Chapter 4 Episode 4

CHAPTER FOUR

Camila's pov

"You know, if there is anything that is more stressing than my work, believe me; it's my children." he stated.

I was compelled to laugh, but I tried not to. Raising kids can be stressful; who doesn't know that?

"And it's even more difficult raising them all alone ..." he trailed off.

I stared at him in bewilderment and asked, "How do you mean 'alone'?"

He sighed heavily. "You know Ella, right?"

Biting my lip in envy, I reminisced. "Ella? You mean your wife?"

"Well ... we got divorced two years ago, so she's literally my ex-wife now." he said.

I gasped in amazement. "My goodness. What happened?"

"She is dead to me. My kids have no mom to give them that motherly love for a very long time now. I'm trying to bring a mom for them. But I failed" he said, his silence signifying that was the end of the narration.

I couldn't fathom what next to say, or what the right words to say were.

"Bringing a mom is not a fast way to solve my problems, but looking for someone guiding my kids" ." he said and laughed.

I could sense a hint of pain in his laughter.

"Those kids are just becoming so audacious and rude. Believe me, I stopped going on dates because of them. They always find a way or two to make the girls I get entwined with to leave angrily."

I felt a little bit sour in my heart.

"Also, their performances at school seemed to be dwindling, and a teacher had called me to give me a notice about it. I might not be that responsible father, but I wish to rectify my children's stubborn attitude and their academic performance."

I scoffed, unsure of where Kevin was headed with this discussion. "Okay? You mentioned you needed my help, so where do I come in?"

Kevin adjusted himself on the sofa. "I need you to cater for them."

JACK'S POV

I tap my pencil on my exercise book repeatedly and look at the board for probably the hundredth time. The math's exercise seems to be nothing but jargons to me. I can't seem to understand a single thing. Normally, I am a math freak, but right now, I can't think straight with all that was going through my head. I can't seem to understand a thing. I felt Zoey's eyes on me, but I don't bother to look at her. I know that she wants to ask me if everything is okay and probably offer to help me, but I am not interested. I look from the tail of my eyes and I see her playing with her dark, long hair and biting her pen, waiting for me to turn around.

"Pssst!"

That voice unmistakably belongs to my friend, Mike. He sucks at Math's and I have been slipping answers to him throughout the school year and he is probably waiting for me to do the same today. He doesn't understand that today is different.

"Come on, son. A little help here." He harshly whispers.

I look at our teacher, Miss Mary. She seems to be busy with something, but I still don't turn to my friend. I feel a slight jab at my ear and I turn around in anger. I can catch Mike's fat ass bouncing back to sit down and motions at me.

"Let me be!" I tell him.

He scoffs and shakes his head. I roll my eyes and look straight ahead of him. After a few minutes, I felt a paper ball hit me at the back of my head and I turn to look at him in anger. He could clearly see that I am not interested in helping him at all.

"It's not my fault that your Mom died and left your sad ass alone." He raises his hand.

On another day, I would have smiled at him and reminded him about his divorced parents, but it hits differently today. In what seems like a second, I stand up and smack my best friend across his face. I dash out of the classroom to the section that housed male's restrooms afterwards. I get into one of the restroom and bolts the door. I hold my head in my hands and try to get myself to breathe. I don't know how long I have stayed, but I hear a soft knock and I open the door.

It's Kitana.

She always have a way of knowing that something is wrong with me at school and then finds me. We just look at each other for sometime and she sighs.

"Zoey told me that you punched Mike and that Miss Mary can't find you." She explains.

"Don't worry about me, Kitana. Go back to class." I instruct her.

"I don't want to." She whines. "I will only go back when you feel better."

Well, I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon, because I was completely filled with anger at that moment. I now despise that so-called teacher lady with all of me; even when I haven't met her yet.

"I can f*ckin' kill her." I didn't realize what I said until the word slips from my mouth. Kitana only smiles.

"Maybe we should punish her for taking our Dad away." Kitana tells me.

I can't believe that my innocent sister would think that.

"What?"

"Let's play our tricks on her." She tells me. "By the time we are done, she wouldn't want to marry Daddy anymore. "
