Chapter 4 I don't take no for an answere

Xavier's POV

Shocked was all over her face when she asked me for the nth time, "What did you say?"

"How many times do I need to answer your question?" Are you deaf? "

"Why do you want to marry me?" she asked, with a wondering look on her face.

"Let's be married by contract; my father had been pressuring me to marry in two months, and a month had already gone; in exchange, I would pay you."

"Do you think marriage is just like that?"

"3 years. You simply have to be married in 3 years and you're free; as my wife, you'll be given an allowance in the form of a black card, which you may spend as you like, and at the conclusion of the contract, you'll earn $100 million."

"Your father wanted you to get married, and I'm sure he already has someone in mind. Why not marry her? I don't like family feuds, and I come from a horrible family, so it'll just tarnish your reputation," she concluded.

"I'd rather marry you because I chose you, not my father; also, he already had someone in mind for my wife, but that doesn't mean I have to marry her; he's just giving me an option if I can't find one; and your family background doesn't bother me." I said, encouraging her even more.

"I am uh------," she said hesitantly, so I cut her off.

"What? "

"I am not a virgin. You will only look down on me in the future. "

I was shocked by what she said. It was a big deal for her when it wasn't for me.

"Me too!" I said, trying to make her feel at ease. She just looked at me, trying to figure out what to say.

"You're a man," she argues.

"Double standard, huh?" I rode on her.

"I have nothing, and the one thing I could offer to the guy I was meant to marry was lost due to my ignorance; you are wealthy, have more to offer, even the entire globe," she said.

"Are you taking it against me? Being unchaste and rich?"

"You will never understand."

"I completely understand you, and I'm merely stating that I wouldn't mind; and why are we arguing over this? We're getting a contract marriage, and other things are unnecessary." I was becoming irritated, and I just wanted to end this argument.

"How can this be simple for you? We're talking about marriage; what if I become pregnant and have a kid? Who will marry the divorcee and have a child like me if we divorce?"

I was stunned by her reaction. I wanted to laugh but held it in. I looked at her sincerely and said,

"Do you think I'll still divorce you and terminate our contract if you have my child?" You're mistaken, honey. It will never come to pass. You will always be mine, as will our kid. "

As her eyes widened in surprise and she just gazed at me, the room fell silent. Her mouth was slightly open, and I wanted to kiss her right then. Before my mind wanders off,

" I take it that you have agreed. You will be going home with me today. " I told her.

"Wait, what? I have not agreed yet."

"I don't take no for an answer; now, get ready to go home; I'll process your discharge; by the way, don't bother escaping; I might still find you." And with that, I was gone, leaving her with no choice but to accept my decision.

I called Paul and told him to prepare our contract and send it to my home.

After I processed her discharge, I went back to her room and handed her the medicine that Dr. Lindsay gave me and said,

"You need to take this before leaving."

After saying that, the nurse got in with a smile and gave me another prescription that she needed as well as the nutritionist dietitian's scheduled diet.

She was looking at Eunice and gave her a sharp stare that I did not miss while Eunice was going down the hospital bed.

"What's wrong?" Do you have a problem with my wife? " I asked her, which made her eyes widen.

I added, "Do your job properly if you want to keep working here," and I took Eunice's hand and walked out of the hospital.

"What was that? Why did you have to say that to her? " Eunice asked me curiously.

"Nothing." I said, not wanting to prolong the issue and end up fighting with her.

"Keep your temper to yourself, not everyone was looking for a fight or something to you."

"Alright, just rest. We'll be home soon. " After that, she just stayed quiet and closed her eyes. I can't help but look at her. Though she looks tired, she looks peaceful.

I don't know if I should wake her up or carry her to our room. I want her to rest more until the colors on her face go back.

I decided to carry her when she opened her eyes.

"Oh, we are here already?" she asked. I nodded and offered her my hand for her to take and get inside. I was glad when she took it.

I spotted Paul waiting for us when we got into our house. "Paul here brought our contract and marriage application. Do you want to settle this now or rest first?" I asked her, putting a few strands of her hair behind her ear.

She stared at me, and suddenly she said, "Let's settle that first, Paul had been waiting for us I guess."

"Not really, Ms. Eunice, you can have your rest first if you want." Paul said.

"It's alright, I will rest later."

She signed both our contract and our marriage application right there. Paul took her ID and processed our marriage certificate. Paul left after completing all of the appropriate paperwork, and I took Eunice to our room.

"We are sharing a room?" Eunice asked.

"Of course, though we are married by contract, we are still legal husband and wife."

As I said that, she just stood there looking at me.
