Chapter 3 The Contract

Third Party's POV

Eunice was feeling dizzy and her stomach was acting up again, and Mr. Lloyds dominating presence was making it worse. She was praying that the elevator would go down soon so she could relax. She held her breath and felt uneasy.

"Ms. Dawson, I don't bite. You can relax yourself." Mr. Lloyds told her. Eunice was surprised to hear him talk but managed to reply, lying about the uneasiness she felt. "I am fine Mr. Lloyds, it's just that my stomach has been acting up since morning."

Xavier just looked at her as if thinking whether I was lying or not. His forehead creased and he asked, "Are you really fine?" "You don't look fine to me at all." as he said, as the elevator opened. Eunice was thankful and said goodbye to both Xavier and Paul. "I'm fine, thank you. Goodbye, Paul," she said and looked at Xavier. "Mr. Lloyds," she added and nodded.

Eunice was walking to her car when her dizziness came back. She stopped and tried to stay still, holding her head.

"Ms. Eunice, are you alright?" "You looked pale. Let me take you to the hospital." She heard someone tell her worriedly, and when she looked up, it was Paul with Mr. Lloyds beside him. She was about to say something when she finally lost it. The last thing she remembered was Mr. Lloyds's voice, worriedly commanding Paul to get the car ready and feeling the arms that caught her from falling.

Xavier brought Eunice to the hospital and left Paul at the office to settle some matters on his behalf. He was staring at Eunice, who was now sleeping for over 2 hours now, and caught her constantly creasing her forehead. He wondered what her dream could have been for her to look so problematic.

After a few minutes, he saw her move and slowly opened her eyes. He moved closer to Eunice and asked in a business-like manner. "How do you feel?"

Eunice woke up and was thinking about where she was. She heard a man's voice ask her She looked at him and answered startled, "a bit OK. What happened?" She felt confused about why Xavier was with her.

"You fainted in the basement parking lot." You already know you don't feel well. Why did you still want to attend the presentation? You could have stayed at home. Is that how your boss made you work? " Xavier burst out angrily.

Eunice was caught off guard. She doesn't understand why Xavier was making such an assumption. She managed to defend her and her boss in a low voice, "It's not that." I thought it was just a simple dizziness and would go away after a few minutes, but I was wrong. I need to at least give the soft copy of our presentation because I was the one who made the layout. As for my employer, boss and Lia were concerned about me too and asked me to take a rest and get back to work healthy on Monday. "

Xavier handed her water as he noticed that she had a dry throat. Eunice took it and felt relieved after drinking it. "I will call the doctor," Xavier said, and after a few minutes, he left the room.

Eunice decided to lie down while waiting for the doctor and Xavier. She remembered to call Lia and inform her of what happened to her and was looking for her cell phone when the door opened.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Eunice. I am Dr. Lindsay. How do you feel? " said the doctor, looking at Eunice's smile. "Uhm, I think I'm fine. I'm not dizzy anymore and my stomach was a lot better." she answered.

"That's good. Ms. Eunice, it seems that you are fatigued, which causes your dizziness and eventually fainting. This happens because of overworking, lack of sleep, stress, or over-thinking. As for your stomach, you haven't had a proper meal for I guess the past 5-7 days already. You have a very weak stomach and if you can't be careful, it may lead to a critical illness such as stomach cancer. " Eunice was just listening and did not notice how Xavier's face darkened.

"But now, everything is going to be alright. As long as you work and rest properly, and most importantly, eat properly and on time, you are good. You can be discharged now and continue to rest at home, and you can go back to work on Monday. I have asked our Registered Nutritionist and Dietitian to formulate a diet for you to recover at the soonest possible time. Do you have any questions? " Dr. Lindsay continued.

"Oh, nothing. I will take note of everything you say. "

"Alright, I will prescribe you medicine for your stomach." Dr. Lindsay added, and looked at Xavier and left the room.

When the doctor was gone, Xavier neared her and said, "Can't you take care of yourself properly?" How can you not eat on time while you work more than your resting hours? "
