Chapter 9 A Transaction, Again

Calantha didn't think she'd be so easily spotted, because things were always going to work out for her.

Asher no longer had patience with her. He squeezed her chin, forcing her to look into the eyes of his,

"Don't let me repeat it a second time. Where's Selena?"

The powerful gaze of the one who wields potent power made Calantha felt it would kill her.

Fear forced Calantha to say what he wanted to hear.

"No, wake up, Calantha, you can't fall," Reason tried to stop her from doing her stupid trading betrayal.

"I don't know," she said.

Asher frowned, laughing sarcastically. He asked, "How much money did Selena give you? Tell me, I'll pay you three times."

It was a great proposition, but it's also a contemptuous saying.

Calantha knew that Asher thought she was a grabber, he wanted to use the money to solve this problem.

But if she said so, she would have to accept a greater consequence than she could get. Selena would avenge her. Asher loved Selena very much, so he won't protect her and make Selena unhappy.

Calantha's silence made Asher angry.

"Selena found a great service," Asher said sarcastically, rudely pulling Calantha up to the second floor.

Calantha screamed, trying to resist, but she was still locked in Asher's room.

Calantha slammed the door and shouted for Asher to release her, but it was all useless.

Asher got out of the house, got in the car.

"Drive to the wedding venue," he said to the driver.

The assistant called him and reported to him about Selena.

"What? You didn't find any clues?" Asher screamed.

He could not have expected that Selena had prepared an extremely thoughtful plan to escape from him.

Asher was angry. He said, "I will go back to Rosé, Selena left one thing there. I'll start with her. You need to find out who Selena was with."

Asher hung up, threw his phone on the floor.

When Asher returned to Rosé, Calantha was trying to tie the clothes together to form a long rope. She would use it to climb down the mansion and escape.

Asher opened the door of the room rudely. When he saw what she was doing, he laughed sarcastically.

"What a naive thought," he said, pulling Calantha to the window.

She saw a lot of muscular security guards around the mansion.

"They're all demobilized soldiers. I reserve these for you," Asher said.

"No," Calantha said desperately.

"You can get out of here if you tell me everything you know," Asher advised.

Calantha's eyes welled with tears. Not being able to run away from Asher scared her, but she couldn't do anything but endure all that Asher would do to her.

"No, I can't," Calantha said.

Asher gritted his teeth. He said, "That's a good choice."

Asher let go of her hand and stated, "You'll have to stay in this room until you change your mind."

Calantha ran after him, grabbed Asher's arm, pleading, "No, you can't do this to me."

Asher, despite her plea, removed her hand rudely, went out of the room, and locked the door.

He locked Calantha in that room for a month. She tried to escape, but Asher's guards always found her.

Every day in that month, Rosé's butler, Mr. Anderson, gave her meals three times a day at fixed times. Calantha tried going on a hunger trike to force Asher to let her go, but he just took it as a joke.

Calantha felt she was going crazy, and every day she had to draw pictures to keep her spirits up.

Asher was still trying to find Selena. He searched all over New York City, using his power to find her in other cities.

But he couldn't, Selena's plan was too perfect.

Asher couldn't always take the time to look for Selena forever. His delay did not satisfy the shareholders of his corporation. His mother, Bertha Pitman, called him several times and chanted about that he did not closely monitor the categories.

Whatever will happen will happen. An incident occurred in a category of the corporation. Asher must resolve this issue before shareholders requested an internal meeting. Bertha went to the company to meet him, and they talked for an hour in his office.

Asher couldn't just focus on finding Selena. He had to go back to Rosé and solve the problems that happened before the shareholders found out about them.

One day, Asher went to the room where he locked up Calantha.

When he entered the room, Calantha sat by the window, the brightest part of the room, and read a book. As soon as he saw Calantha's face, Asher thought she was Selena, the girl he was always looking for.

But when Calantha raised her head, looking at him, her baby blue eyes reminded him she was Calantha, not Selena.

It startled Asher as he looked into those baby blue eyes.

Calantha no longer panicked when she saw Asher like she had been a month before. Being confined in this room for so long has worn away her feelings.

Calantha stared at Asher, watching his every move.

"Go out, I have a job for you," Asher said.

"If I say no?" Calantha asked, her gaze unwavering.

Abel smirked. He said, "You think you may say no?"

...

Calantha walked down the stairs, she wore a wide white dress. She let down her hair. After a month, her hair was longer, her hair root was black. Her face turned pale. But Asher always paid attention to her.

Calantha was not as charming as Selena. She looked gentle. But Asher couldn't stop himself from finding Selena's presence through that lifeless face.

Calantha sat down on the sofa, facing Asher. She said nothing, waiting for his actions.

But Asher didn't want to start first. Calantha gave up, she used her hoarse voice to ask him.

"What do you want?"

"You must be very pleased, right? I haven't been able to find Selena for a month, and I have to come back here, talk to you like a loser," Asher said, with all his anger.

He knew he should hate Selena. But he couldn't, he loved her. But he needed to vent his anger. And he chose Calantha as common sense.

"So you want to vent your anger at me?" Calantha firmly said.

Calantha exposed Asher. But Asher could only look at her with angry eyes, because he needed her until he found Selena.

Asher took a sip of water to calm down.

He slammed the cup down on the table, causing it to make a high-pitched squeak. He said, "I want to sign a transaction with you."
