Chapter 7 Barbara's story

Liam's POV

I didn't realize that I had passed out until I slowly began to open my eyes. I found myself in lady Barbara's room. She seemed to be having a conversation with the healer.

"You will have to make sure he takes these herbs, they will help in healing his wounds and also help reduce the pain he is feeling" the healer instructed lady lady Barbara as she stood close to the door and was about to leave the room.

"Yes healer I will make sure that I do just that" lady lady Barbara replied as she saw the healer off.

I really hate to take herbs but I don't seem to have a choice either.

"Thank God you are awake. How are you feeling?" Lady Barbara asked as she entered the room and sat next to me on the bed.

"My lady, I really shouldn't be here. Can you please take me to my quarters" I pleaded.

"No Liam! That is not true at all. You really deserve to be here because you have helped me. Anyways, let's not mind that. I will have to apply these herbs on you later this evening ok?" Lady Barbara said as she showed me some paste which I'm sure was made from herbs.

"My lady, I'm sorry for interrupting your conversation but Lord Zaka request's you come and see him," a maid came to inform us.

I managed to get myself up from the bed, thankfully I was still strong. I went to the door and checked if anyone was around the room, when I was sure that no one was there, I quickly teleported to the wizard's house, the same wizard who had kidnapped Lord Zaka.

"You! what are you doing here?" The wizard asked the moment he turned around and saw me in the room where he was attending to his wounds.

"I have come to return to you what is yours" I said to the wizard as a smirk rested on my face.

"You don't have anything that belongs to me so now please get out or else.." the wizard threatened me.

"Oh please keep quiet you foolish wizard" I said as I came closer to him and placed my hands on his head, gently pressing my two thumbs on his forehead, he tried to fight back but couldn't.

I manipulated him to forget everything that has happened, the thing about how he kidnapped Lord Zaka and the little fight we were involved in. I also made him forget the things that will happen in the next 5 minutes.

"Here you go" I said as I brought out his bracelet and placed it in his palm, immediately after that I teleported back to lady Barbara's room.

I was just in time as lady Barbara stepped into the room and sat beside me on the bed.

"I'm sorry about that. My dad wanted to discuss something very important so he took longer than I had expected" lady Barbara apologized.

"It's ok my lady. I know that you really didn't mean to keep me waiting" I said as I pretended to wince in pain.

All I really want from her is nothing but her sympathy.

"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry" lady Barbara apologized again.

"No I'm fine" I said as of trying to hide my pain from her

"Do you want anything to eat or drink?" lady Barbara asked

"No my lady I'm ok" I lied. I was really hungry, all that fighting really stressed me out and the hit was so strong .

But I didn't want lady Barbara to be aware of that fact. Lady Barbara made me lie on the bed. She sent for a maid.

"Good afternoon my lady, you sent for me?" The maid asked as she bowed her head down.

"Yes I did. I want you to get some warm water and a towel. Oh! And let the water be a little bit warm" lady Barbara said as the made simply nodded.

Soon, the maid was here with a towel and a down go water in a bowel. Lady Barbara asked the maid to press the affected part on my body.

The maid soaked the towel in the hot water as she slowly and gently began to press it against my body. It was painful but after some time it helped relieve me of my pains.

Lady Barbara sent the maid out after she was done.

"I hope that helped a lot?" Lady Barbara asked me with a sweet voice.

"Yes my lady. I am ok but I think it will be best if you don't make the maids serve me like this. I don't want people to start talking about ill things. Please my lady, I am nothing but a mere guard" I said.

"That is nonsense. Nobody is going to say anything to you. I mean can't they see your condition? Why would it be wrong for me to help you when it is my fault that you are in this condition?what so wrong with that?" Lady Barbara questioned.

"Even at that my lady people will still talk. And anyways, it is my job to risk my life to save that of Lord Zaka's" I explained

"That doesn't stop me from helping you now, does it?" Lady Barbara asked again.

I became silent for a while

"So let's agree that we won't talk about this anymore" lady Barbara said and I smiled as I nodded my head as a yes.

Sometimes I wonder if lady Barbara is really a nice person or she is just acting that way because she might have feelings for me. From my experience in this palace all these years I have worked here, I can say she really is a terrifying person.

I can recall the way she treated a commoner just because she touched her dress. The commer was a maid who worked in the palace for close to 4 years, she was lady Barbara's chief maid but still she had no mercy on her.

"Please my lady, I really didn't mean to hurt you or make you upset. I only touched your dress because I admired it, it's very beautiful and I just wanted to feel it" the maid pleaded with tears in her eyes.

"You are lying. You are nothing but a thief and you deserved to be punished. What did you think? I can't believe you actually thought that you would be able to steal my dress and no one would catch you huh?" Lady Barbara shouted as she began to whip the poor maid.

I really couldn't stand to watch how she mistreated that maid, she didn't just flog her but used all sorts of sharp objects to tear and Pierce parts of her body. Before lord Zaka could get to the palace to hear what actually happened, the maid had already been badly wounded.

Lord Zaka returning to hear the story didn't even help situations,as he did the worst by throwing her in the dungeon and subjecting her to torture for the one week the maid stayed there. He finally let her go and banished her.

"What are you thinking about Liam?" Lady Barbara asked me as she began to apply the paste on my body.

"Oh nothing my lady. I thought you would apply the paste in the evening so why are you applying it now?" I found myself asking her out of curiosity.

"Nothing really. I just feel like applying the paste now" lady Barbara simply replied.

For a moment I began to catch feelings for lady Barbara but then my mind drifted off to how wicked she and her father, Lord Zaka can be.

I remember how many human pets Lord Zaka has killed. Most of them were killed either because they refuse to have sèx with him or because he used his demon powers when he had sex with them.

Lady Barbara on the other hand was aware of her father's evil deeds but she never tried to stop him, not even once. She always supported him in his wickedness.

The last pet of Lord Zaka that died, died because of what lady Barbara and her father did to her.

After molesting her in his bedroom, all in the name of sèx, Lord Zaka had pushed her out of his room. The poor pet wasn't careful so she accidentally bumped into lady Barbara on the staircase, lady Barbara cursed her and said she wanted to kill her.

Lady Barbara dragged the poor thing by the hair and down the stairs.

The pet was already bleeding so badly, but lady Barbara didn't even care at all. She pushed her to the floor and that was how she died.

Lord Zaka came out from his room to see the whole scenario but he kept quiet and asked two guards to throw her body into the fire, as it had now become a common thing for him to do. I mean why shouldn't he? No one questions him after all.
