Chapter 7 Hyena's Attack

We made the smart decision to light the bonfire first when we entered the cave.

I was able to grab a burning stick and stand at the entrance of the cave to ward off the incoming attack.

The punk Rosie showed extraordinary courage. She also picked up a burning piece of wood and stood beside me.

The blonde beauty Hazel looked terrified, but she still plucked up the courage to stand on the other side of me holding a long stick.

I blocked the entrance of the cave, armed with a torch and my dagger. Rosie and Hazel would help me in this fight.

The flickering light of the fire made it hard to see the enemy clearly.

Hyenas!

These were difficult opponents. On the African grassland, even the powerful lion would not provoke hyenas. They were ferocious, cunning, and greedy beasts.

My stomach churned with nerves.

I had fought wolves once in the army, but then I was not afraid because I was armed with a rifle.

Now I only had my dagger and a stick. Nevertheless, I had to fight with all I had, or I and my six companions would be their dinner!

A hyena barked wildly and charged towards us.

I could see its disgusting nose and razor-sharp teeth rapidly approaching.

But something was wrong. This was not a normal hyena!

When I was on a mission in Africa, I saw a hyena. One of my comrades-in-arms had shot it and I had the chance to look closely at the corpse.

The creature in front of me looked similar to a hyena, but it had a shorter face and a more ferocious appearance. Its teeth appeared stronger and had a thick layer of enamel. Its jaw was strong and sturdy. I knew that it must be able to bite even harder than a hyena.

The most obvious difference was that it was much larger than an ordinary hyena.

To say that it was like a little calf was an underestimate.

It was as large as a lioness!

"Shit!" I cursed and struck it with the burning stick. "It's not a normal hyena!"

The stick immediately shattered against its hard muscles.

The huge hyena rolled on the ground. It was fearful of the flames and retreated with a whine.

Before I could even take a breath, another huge hyena pounced on me.

I was taken by surprise.

I was saved by Hazel, who hit it on the head with her stick.

I seized the opportunity to hit the back of the hyena with my knees and stabbed its neck with my dagger.

I could feel the dagger hit its thick neck bone, and I hoped that some important nerves had been cut off.

The giant hyena howled and struggled hard. Copper-scented blood poured from the wound. The ground at the entrance of the cave was soaked with it.

The first hyena tried to bite my leg.

Its mouth was gigantic! It could take my whole leg off with one bite!

Rosie threw a burning stick and the other hyenas were frightened back.

I kicked the hyena's soft belly, sunk my dagger into its belly, and tore hard.

Blood splashed all over me, but I kept stabbing until the hyena stopped barking.

The other huge hyenas were afraid of the fire and didn't dare to come into the cave.

I raised the burning stick to frighten them. They immediately retreated but refused to leave.

I dragged out the corpses of the two hyenas we had killed. Their blood splashed at the entrance of the cave and I threw their corpses onto the rocks.

"Come on! Son of bitch!" I shouted as loud as I could to intimidate the hyenas.

It worked!
