With my trembling hand, I turned the doorknob, and peeked in to see him sitting behind his desk, his gaze strictly fixated on the screen of the computer which was all set in front of him before I finally walked in fully with my heart, thumping heavily against my chest.
"Good morning sir." I greeted in a low voice, but he heard me anyways.
"What is good about the morning, Emily?" He asked calmly but there was a hint of anger and danger sounding in his calmed voice as his gaze kept locked on the screen of the computer not raising his head to look at me.
I gulped down the lump in my throat, and smashed my lips together tightly, searching in my mind for what to make as an excuse to save myself from this situation but my brain abandoned me as I couldn't come up with something. Why does my brain have to do this to me at this time I need it the most?
"Don't make me repeat myself, Miss Emily! What the hell is good about the morning, huh?" He slammed his hands on the table, as he glared hard at me with so much anger on his face. And that's the moment I know I'm screwed.
"You think we're playing here? For heaven's sake. You come here every single day but was always late giving a lame excuse or the other. And to make matter worse, you always sleep when on duty. Are you ready to work at all, Emily" He fired.
"Yes sir. I'm sorry and I promise this won't happen again." I apologized with my head bowed.
"This is what you say everyday. What do you think of me? That I'm a fool? You think you can toil with me, huh?" He fired again, while I flinched.
"I'm sorry sir, please forgive me." I pleaded with a shaky voice closed to verge of tears.
I need this job. Henry is going to kill me if I lose my only source of income. He'll kill me if I can't provide him money, that's how much of a monster he is.
"I won't tolerate this nonsense again the next time you try this, then, we're done. I'm sendingyou away for good. This should be the last time." He pointed his index finger at me warningly while glaring hard at me.
I let out a silent small sigh like a burden has just been lifted off my shoulders. Heavens knows that I won't think twice committing suicide if I lose this job. It'll be better that way than go through the pains which Henry is going to inflict on me.
"Thank you so much sir. I promise this won't repeat itself again." I smiled happily.
"It better not. Anyways, Jayden's empire company's delivery is in an hour, so you're going there to do the delivery since Aaron will be busy here. Here's the key to the courier, make sure you don't get there late, if they call me that you didn't deliver the coffee at the allotted time, then just know that you're kissing your work bye for good." He threatened, as he threw the key to me.
"I'll do just that, sir." I caught the key in the air, and nodded before storming out of his office. Stepping out of his office, I heaved a sigh of relief before going to join my other colleagues.
"Hey girlfriend." Jessy, one of my colleagues waved at me with a smile on her face.
"Hey Jessy." I returned the smile as I walked over to her.
"Manager is being an asshole again. He's just a toothless tiger and I strongly wish I can just kick his ass. He's too strict for my liking. How can he be scolding you like that just because you came late to work? He thinks everyone is just like him. Who doesn't have anything doing at home, other than just to eat and flirt around with women." Jessy scoffed, as she poured some coffee in the mug she's holding. Jessy is just like this and always with a way of making me smile, and I can proudly say that she's the closest person to me here in the café.
"Stop that Jessy, manager is going to kill you if he hears that." I chuckled uncontrollably. This girl is just so funny.
"I'll make sure to kick his groin and end him in his early grave before I leave his café." She looked at me and smirked before turning her attention to the coffee she was pouring inside mugs.
"Jessy, can you please be fast about it? Customers are waiting!" Aaron's voice came on from afar.
"Alright. I'm coming already." She said, and poured one more, before arranging the ten mugs which are now filled with coffee on a tray after which she took it.
"I'll be back." She winked at me before walking away.
I shook my head as I stared at her unbelievably. This girl is one of the craziest creature I've seen so far, she's a badass.
"Hey, Emily." Came Aaron's voice from behind. Turning around I found him standing not too close, with a smile on his face.
"Hey, Aaron. Is it ready now?"I asked with a smile on my face.
"Yes, I've arranged everything and you will be leaving in less than thirty minutes." He said as he took a glance at his wrist watch.
"Oh that's great, but I think I should be on my way now, since it's all ready." I said.
"But you still have half an hour." He gave me a puzzled look.
"Yes I know but I want to go now. I don't want to be late." I said, and without waiting for anymore words from him and hurried pass him and headed straight to the door.
Stepping out of the café, I walked straight to the courier and took the helmet, wore it over my head after which I climbed it and started the engine before riding out of the premises and soon I was already on my way to Jayden's Empire Company.
