Chapter 5 The Horror Begins

Chapter Five

They both appeared inside their Pa's car and coughed hard due to the much fog that filled the car, coming from the nearby factory.

"Are you alright kids" Pa asked. They both stared at each other, puzzled at what happened. So Mohini was actually right, they thought

"We are fine Pa" Jenny muttered

"Okay....and we are here, welcome to Pa's farm sweeties" Pa said, as he parked the car, turning off its ignition

"You might want to check around, I will be in the store house" he cooed, getting down from the car, which they also did

"Enjoy your time here"

"Pa?" Jenny called, he turned to face her

"Any problem jenny"

Didn't you notice anything, I mean where we in the car all along" She asked, Pa frown, perplexed

"Jenny...Mohini told us not..." Jeremy whispered, pulling her dress, while Pa watched is amusement

"What is it kids...who is Mohini" he asked, they gasp with mouth wide open

"You mean you don't know who Mohini is huh, the girl who our lorry knocked down, the fair girl with......"

"No need for much explanation Jeremy, everything that happened was not real" Jenny snapped place a knock on his head

"Ough"

"What are you kids talking about" Pa chuckled

"Nothing Pa, see you later" She muttered, dragging Jeremy with her as they leave Pa to ponder on their sudden reaction. He shrugged and went his way, after much thoughts

"What was that about Jenny, I thought we promised to keep the secret" Jeremy grimace

"Shut up...ain't you the one describing Mohini to Pa, when she is clearly not real to them. We are the only ones that knows about her"

"So what are we gonna do know"

"Find the red feet chicken" she stared at the cages where the chickens are kept, squinting her eyes

"Ahhnnnnwwwn. This place stinks" Jeremy grouse and wrinkled his nose as they move further into the poultry. Few minutes later, they were already drained out, unable to find the chicken.

"Jenny, are you sure Black Bender is here, because I'm damn tired" He groan, as he sits on a large stone close to the water tank

"This chickens are damn annoying, they wanna pull off my hair" he whined

"You need to be quiet; you wouldn't want the workers to know that we are here. They are just some meters away, they might hear us" jenny whispered

"Fine" he breathed out. Immediately, they sighted one of the workers coming in, oblivious of their presence he went directly to one of the cage and brought out a large chicken. They both hid and peep to have a glance of the chicken he was bringing out

"Are you seeing what I'm seeing, Jeremy"

"And what are you seeing....huhh" he gasp

"The chicken with the red feet" they both exclaimed and ran out of their hiding place, chasing the man with the chicken

"Wait up mister....hey..wait up" Jenny yelled, as the man stop, surprised to see them in the poultry

"Who are you kids and what are you doing here?" he asked authoritatively

"We are Pa's grandchildren...and we are here to take our chicken..please hand it over" Jeremy muttered, the man chuckled

" Haahaa.. you both are funny, what do you need a chicken for...anyway, a customer wanna buy this one here" he said lifting up the one he was holding

"So you can get yourself another chicken" he snorted

"No......we want this one, the one with the red feet...that's Black Bender he is trying to take away...come on Jenny..stop him" Jeremy whined

"Children, I won't let you take my precious time, I'm leaving" he snapped

"No...you are going nowhere with that chicken...it...mine!!!!!" Jenny yelled

"Ours!!!!!!, not just yours alone" Jeremy chipped in

"Oh ok, it's ours!!!!!" She screamed

"What's going on here, I'm hearing some scream...huh..children..what's wrong" pa said, rushing in

"Sorry sir..but this kids here were the ones screaming" the worker pleaded

"What kids..huh..these are my grandchildren don't you get it" Pa snapped

"I'm sorry sir...but..."

"But what...you tried to hurt them?, what about the chicken you were asked to bring?, you are keeping the customers waiting, idiot"

"Sorry sir...I will give them right away"

"No...no..that's our chicken Pa..not his"

"Oh oh children, it's for a customer" Pa smiled trying to pat their hair

"No Pa, give the customer another one, I need that one with the red feet" Jenny grouse

"But...but why? The chicken has been booked"

"I don't care....I love chickens with red feet...mum said that they are....ermm"

"They are delicious...and so tasty" Jeremy chipped in, smiling

"Yea, sure, mum said that a chicken with red feet are delicious and she told me to bring one of it home for dinner, so we need that chicken now!!!!" jenny yelled

"Hmm...did your mum really said that" pa asked, with furrowed brow

"Yes!!!!" they both replied

"Well then..you can have the chicken with the red feet....erm but ain't there other chickens with red feet over there...erm let me check it..."

"Noooo!!!!!" They yelled

"Oh, ok then you can have this one, tell the customers that we got a problem and won't be able to give them the one they booked, get them a bigger chicken to replace this, Johnny" Pa said

"Yes sir" The supposed Johnny replied and handed over the red feet chicken to the kids

"Phewwwww, mission one completed, so let's move to the next stage" Jenny mumbled

"And that is to kill it and eat it" Jeremy smiled

"Yea...but wait a sec..did Mohini asked us to eat it..or we should just kill it"

"I don't know about that, but it's still the same thing, mum's gonna kill it and we all will definitely eat it, period"

"Fine, let's do it" She cooed

*The horror begins*

On getting home, their mum killed and prepared the chicken which actually possessed Black Bender, but it was too late. His spirit was fully aware of what they were about doing; they were foolish to have conversed about his death in front of him.

The spell bounding him to the chicken was already broken, he was free to leave and possess another living thing, and he did. He took advantage of their maid, Mabel and lives in her. While the chicken was killed, his spirit was fully bestowed on Mabel, who was suddenly filled with taste for blood.

She became mild for seconds and came back to her normal self with the aim of destroying souls and making their Christmas Eve a feast for blood.

Jeremy, seated at the dinner table was feeling paranoid. Staring at the chicken in his plate, he felt disgusted at once. He couldn't imagine himself eating a once possessed chicken. What if Black Bender is not really dead, he thought and picked up his cutlery.

He might come back for us, for killing his home, jenny thought, but she shrug it behind her and devoured the meat. They were both having different thoughts when suddenly the rooms light went off.

A sudden cold wind blew into the dinning room, causing everyone to shiver as they were unable to see one another. The light flickers for some time and came up again. This time their mum stood up and went to pick a touch light.

"I think something is wrong with the bulb connection, why is it shaking" Mum asked no one in particular.

Jeremy stared at jenny, having a horrific look, they both understood each other, but the question is, will Black Bender come back for them?

Later that night, the whole family retired to their various rooms, after greeting each other goodnight. Jeremy, being scared to the bones was unable to sleep, he kept turning from side to side on the bed; the door to his room bang open as jenny barge in.

"Hey, can't you knock, you almost scare the hell out of me" Jeremy blurted

"You need to come now, something is wrong, Pa's car got burnt out there" She yelled, as his eyes popped out

"What!!!! How, what started the fire"

"I don't know, but I have a feeling that something is wrong somewhere. We shouldn't have listened to Mohini, we shouldn't have agreed to kill Black Bender" she snapped

"But what are we gonna do now, how are we even sure that Black Bender is dead. We only killed the chicken, but will the ghost die along with it" Jeremy inquired

"Remember what happened in the dinning, that wind was not an ordinary wind, but let's wait and see what fate has for us, come..Mum is out there,. Everyone is awake" She said, as they both ran out of the room.

Their mum sighted them coming towards the scene and hurriedly meet up with them, preventing them from coming closer.

"Children, please!!!, I will like you both to go back inside, it's not safe out here..come on" their mum said

"Mum what happened, what started the fire" jenny asked, as they walked into the living room

"I don't know, it was reported that the fire suddenly erupt from the ground and started burning the car, but the fire agency are here, they will try to put it out" She explained

"Hmmmm, mum,,,I'm scared,,,I don't wanna die" Jeremy whined

"No one is talking about death here baby, only your Pa's car got burnt and nothing more" she said

"Never mind mum, you won't understand" Jenny chipped in

"Understand what!!!!! Kids, is there anything you are not telling me" She frown

"You both went to the farm with Pa today, right, did you touch anything in the car that caused the fire, huhnn, answer me"

"No!!!" they both replied

"Mum, one of us is missing and you never asked about her..fine she asked us not to mention about her..but i don't care, Mohini, she left with us, but didn't come back" Jenny snapped

"What Mohini, I mean...jenny, what are you talking about" her mum asked

"Mum??? Don't you know Mohini, the girl our lorry knocked down on our way here" Jeremy said

"Point of correction Kids, our lorry did not knock down a girl, it actually hit a dog, which I think belongs to some villagers...we left it there, and came here. So who is the Mohini you are talking about" She stated and stared at their confused face, she furrowed her brows.

"Mum I don't get you, but this Mohini told us about a possessed chicken which she is on a mission to kill. She said the chicken is possessed with a dreaded fairy ghost that loves to destroy lives and properties. The chicken was actually the one we brought from Pa's farm, now I believe that Black Bender is behind this fire.

Because, the spell the great queen casted on the box holding his heart is not longer functioning, Black Bender might have leave the chicken before it was killed, he will come back for us mum.

We are sorry, but mum we need to leave this place...we need to go back to the city...we don't wanna die!!!!" Jenny muttered, as Jeremy started sobbing.

Perplexed, their mum sigh and arced her brow, she placed her hand on the neck to feel their temperature.

"Mum...what are you doing?" Jeremy asked

"Just trying to see if the both of you are okay, but I think you are not, with the countless rubbish that you spit out just now.

Anyway kids, this is where I will say goodnight, I will call for the doctor to come check on your mental health tomorrow, cause I can't fathom what you are saying..go to your rooms kids and sleep

"But mum!!!" They whined, as Jeremy sobs the more

"No buts!!!!"

She dragged them by their hands towards their rooms and push them in

"Goodnight jenny" She muttered, and locked the door to her room, as jenny kept on banging it, yelling furiously

"Mum...open the door" she yelled

"Goodnight Jeremy"

"Mum, listen to us, we are saying the truth...Black Bender is a dreaded ghost, it's gonna harm us...."

"Nothing is gonna harm you here baby, you are safe..so goodnight"

And with that, she locked the door to his room, and left, as she breathe a sigh of relief

"Hunhhmm..weird..Mohini? Black Bender...hunnn...I'm gonna ask Pa what he gave to my children to eat, they can't just go crazy all of a second" she thought
