Chapter 5 Got a job from Mr Rude

ALEXA'S POV

"Alexa, let's go" Mark's voice came up and I nod my head standing up.

"Don't be scared, he isn't scary" says Mark again and I nod my head.

We head to the elevator and we entered, Mark pressed the 30th floor, I'm not so surprised because the building is fucking huge.

After some moment, we reached our destination and in our front is a glass door that is glittering like it's made of Gold, CEO Nicklaus Knight is boldly written on it.

"You have to wait here for a minute, I will call you in or I will come take you in" Mark said and I nod my head, he gave me a short smile and entered the office.

The door opened and Mark entered. A few minutes later, the door opened.

Mark showed his face and signaled for me to come in, I said a quick prayer in my mind and I entered with my head bowed.

Stepping into the office, I knew I changed environment, it fucking screams money, I mean huge money, I don't even know where I am, I feel like I'm in another world, I........ a voice suddenly cut me off.

"And this is the thing you brought Mark?, seriously! She can't even afford to buy herself a good cloth" The boss said almost yelling, but his voice seems familiar, I wanted to raise my head and look at him but I'm scared, he may think I'm rude.

"Boss, she......" Mark tried to talk to him but he beat him to it.

"Don't even try to defend any shit Mark, and you! Do you think you can work in a company like this? (I hear him scoff) You only have a high school certificate, it's not even that great and you think you can work in a place like this? (He laughed) so you think we hire dullards here, right?........(He went silent for a while)... look up" I shook slightly still not looking up.

"You heard me, right?" He barked this time around and I raised my head immediately. My knees wobbled the moment our eyes met, he looked gobsmacked too, suddenly he burst into hysteric laughter and my face went red immediately, I'm so embarrassed right now, I couldn't even look him in the face anymore.

"Really?, so it's you, I should have known that the only gullible person that can bring this kind of certificate to apply for a job in this kind of company, do you even think at all before doing things?" I turned back to walk out of the door because staying is of no use, he will just insult me and still won't give me the job.

"Is this how you easily give up? Then you'll never find a job, can you even swallow your pride and admit you're wrong?" He said and I stopped dead on my track, I think I should swallow my pride, I really need a job, I'll just apologize.

"I..I..I..I..m..I'm, I'm s..orry, I'm sorry" I stuttered and he laughed a little.

" you don't have to be, I thought you were rich" he said and I looked down ashamed.

"Or you've probably gone broke (he laughed sarcastically) well, do you really need this job..." "Yes!" I replied rather too desperately, he laughed and I looked at him mutely.

"Well chill, I..." his phone rang, he picked up the and received a phone call which ended after some seconds, a guy walked in the instant he dropped his phone.

"Good morning boss" the guy greeted him and he waved him off, the guy nodded his head to both Mark and I, Mark responded him with a nod too while I responded with a small smile.

"Morning Karl, Mark this is the new passing assistant I got yesterday, I don't know what to do about your girl or can she work as a maid?" I looked down embarrassed, I know what he's tryna do, he is humiliating me.

"Can you?" He asked again, I raised my head and looked at Mark who nodded his head in return, I guess I really don't have a choice here, I know the personal assistant job is a bit high for me, but being a maid is not, what do I even expe......

"This is the last time I'll ask this, can you work as a maid?" He said and I quickly nod my head.

"Say it out" he commanded.

"Yes I can work as a maid" I said and he smiled.

"Okay I think we're cool now, Mark I need you to create a contract for us and I'll forward some details to you make sure you add them to the contract" he said and Mark nodded.

"You can go now Mark and as for you (he pointed at me) you have to sit here and wait to complete all the processing and sign the contract" He said, I nod my head and Mark left the room.

"You can go sit on the chair over there and please make sure you do not stain my chair" He said and I went to sit on the chair in the far end of the office.

"Karl, what is our schedule for today?" I hear him ask his personal assistant.

I've been sitting here more than four hours, yet there's nothing, just that CEO Nicklaus has been attending meetings and receiving business calls, I'm fucking tired already, I guess I just have to endure....

"Lexa, come over" I heard his voice and looked at him, he nod his head to confirm he called I quickly sprang up my feet and went to meet him.

Mark entered at the same time, he dropped a file and winked at me before leaving. Nicklaus pushes the file towards me.

"Have a seat" He said and I quickly took a seat.

"This file contains the contract, it's a year contract, you can go through it" He said calmly and I took the file, I brought out the contract book and the first thing I saw got me gobsmacked.

"Fifty grands" I asked, more like whisper yelled.

"Yeah, you got any problem with that? Or it's too sm.." I quickly cut him short before he changes his mind.

"Pls give me a pen sir" I requested, I can't wait any longer. If I do this for a year, my life will be much better, Aunt and I will be able to live a more comfortable life.

"You're sure you don't wanna go through this before signing" He asked, go through what? This is like a fucking blessing, I don't care about whatever the terms and conditions are, I'm ready to abide by anything.

"I have gone through it and it's very perfect" I said and he nodded his head, he brought out a pen from his pocket and gave it to me, I collected it and signed the necessary places.

"Your work starts on Monday, drop your account details, you'll be credited your half payment for the first month" He said and I showed him all my thirty two sets of white clean teeth.

"Thank you sir" I smiled widely at him, he nod and I see something like smirk on his face .

"Collect my home address from the secretary and report there on Monday" He said and I nodded.

"You may leave" He said and I nod my head .

"Thank you sir" I said and dashed out.
