Chapter 2 In the Name of Wife

"A certain Miss Clark has been waiting for you in the living room for three hours."

Adela, the housekeeper, said in a low voice, "Old Mr. Moore sent her here."

"Tell her to go back." Jason sounded impatient, "I'll explain to my grandpa."

"... You won't see her?" Asked Adela.

"That won't be necessary."

Jason took a glance at the carved partition of the living room and saw the woman rising. Her figure was slender though.

"Tell the driver to give her a ride."

Following his words, Jason walked straight to the stairs. In a hurry, Alison trotted out and saw the tall figure of the man.

In a blue shirt and a pair of black trousers, he was holding the business suit that he took out. Viewing from behind, the man didn't look sick but in good shape.

"Jason."

Alison called out.

The man halted his steps before hearing her clear and pleasant voice again, "Can I talk to you?"

Jason turned back. The woman before his eyes had a slender figure, shiny eyes, soft features, and slightly curved lips.

Unlike those in the videos that he had watched, this woman didn't decorate herself much. Her makeup was light, and no earrings were on her earlobes.

But her bright eyes glittered like stars in the sky.

Alison held her breath the moment when she saw the man's face.

The man was very handsome and masculine.

His features looked pretty and sculpted. His eyes were as deep as cool pools in the mountains. The cold air about him was distant and indifferent.

Only the heavy dark circles under his eyes and his weary look resembled those of a sick person.

While she was in a daze, Jason said coldly, "About what?"

"About..." Alison pressed her lips to stifle the mixed feelings in her heart, "About our marriage."

"Marriage?" Jason frowned.

"You probably don't remember me. My name is Alison Clark. You saved me ten years ago and have transferred money to me in the past ten years..."

Upon hearing the woman's anxious explanation, Jason narrowed his eyes.

Ten years ago? That car accident?

Noticing the sudden grief and displeasure in his eyes, Alison knew that car accident was an unspeakable trauma for him.

So was it for her!

She would never like to remember it.

"In short, your grandpa told me to come, and I'm willing to marry you."

Alison plucked up her courage to make such remarks and knew there was no turning back.

To her surprise, the man in front of her laughed, but his eyes turned colder, "Getting married? I won't."

Alison was stunned. In joy, the corners of her lips curved up involuntarily, but the tearful look of the old man crossed her mind again the next second.

The curved-up lips soon went down, and she asked, "So, we should talk, in the living room?"

The woman's emotional change intrigued Jason. Since she was unwilling to marry him, why was she so persistent?

They took their seats in the living room across a row of sofas. Adela served tea and left. After a moment of hesitation, Alison decided to get to the point, "Grandpa already knew about your illness, so you don't need to keep it from him."

"My illness?" Jason arched his eyebrow, "What illness?"

"We are both adults and should be brave. I know that you can only survive another six months..." Alison admired her own bravery, "So, I'm willing to keep you company in the name of your wife."

Jason got her meaning, "Grandpa told you this? I have six months to go?"

"Yes." Alison pressed her lips, "But given the advanced medicine nowadays, you may still have a chance, so don't give up on yourself."
