Nick planned to take me to the home of the witches to see if we could find my mate sooner than my birthday a year from now. Wish he thought of this sooner but, oh well.
Once I was dressed in a pair of black, ripped skinny jeans and a white crop top, I grabbed my flannel off the hook and slipped on a pair of converses before heading downstairs to eat breakfast. Nick was already downstairs, smiling the second I came into the room, I smiled back as I sat down, "How did you sleep?" he asked,
"Fine, thank you," I told him as I fixed my plate; he whispered something to a guard before turning his attention back to me.
"We're going to meet with the witches after you finish eating. I've already arranged the meeting with them." I nodded as I continued to eat. The second I finished the plate was taken from in front of me and I got up. Nick led me to the car and we took off to meet with the witches.
It felt like we had been driving forever when we pulled up to a quaint little house. Two young women came out the door and stood on the porch. We got out of the car, taking Nick's hand, and we walked towards them, "Thank you for meeting with us." Nick told them, they nodded their heads. The one to the right was dark-headed and had a darker arora about her, while the other girl was blonde and had light shining through her.
"I am Melanie," the dark-headed woman said, then motioned towards the other woman, "and this is my sister, Celeste."
"This is my fiance, Aiday." Nick motioned to me and I bowed my head towards them. "We were wondering if you could perhaps help her."
"Please, come inside, we can talk more privately there." Celeste says, we all went inside the small house and sat in the parlor, "Now, what exactly can we help you with?" Nick looked at me and nodded, I then turned to the sisters,
"I want to find my mate sooner. I just turned eighteen, and if I don't find my mate, Nicholas and I will be forced to marry. Can you help?" the sisters exchange a look,
"Perhaps," Melanie says, "however, this is more to do with the Moon Goddess. I may have something, just a moment." Melanie gets up and disappears into another room.
"My sister plays more with the dark arts and potions; I am a Wiccan, I deal with herbs and nature, but I also read palms, if you like, I could read yours?" Celeste says to me, I nodded and handed her my hand, but before she could read it her sister returned with a vial,
"Here, this should help." She hands me the vial, motioning for me to drink it, which I did; the moment I drank it, I felt tingly, and without even a hint of warning, the warm smell of vanilla and cologne, I tense when I realize the smell is coming from right beside me. My wolf started screaming, mate. I composed myself and shook my head,
"Nothing happened," I told her, she seemed confused, but her sister places a hand on her shoulder,
"Perhaps, it will activate when she is around her mate." Melanie nodded,
"Nick, we should go." He nodded, and went to start the car, "I'll be there soon." I then turned back to the sisters when I saw he was gone, "Do you have anything that could prevent my heat from coming?" Celeste nodded and grabbed to herbs and grounded them together, and placed them in a bag,
"Brew this as a tea, it should help. It only takes a teaspoon and you only have to have it once a week. I can send more each month, think of it as birth control." I nodded,
"Thank you," I told them before joining Nick in the car.
When we made it home, I went straight to my room to cry. Nick was my mate, a vampire is my mate. This was the last thing I wanted. There was a knock on my door, "Aiday, are you okay?" I heard Nick ask, I tried to calm myself down,
"Yes, I'm fine. Do you need me?" I asked,
"No, but my mother has binders ready for you to look at to start planning the wedding if you feel up to it." I took in a breath,
"Okay. You can come in." The door opened and Nick walked in with six binders which made my eyes go wide. Nick laughed seeing my face after setting the binders on the coffee table. I took a breath and decided to ask, "Would you like to stay and help me plan the wedding? It's your wedding too." Nick smiled,
"Thank you, yes, I'd love to." We sat down on the couch and started flipping through the binders, "Here, this one has dresses." He says, handing me a binder, I nod and go back to flipping through some of the other binders.
After deciding to have a traditional werewolf wedding with a touch of vampire traditions as well, we went to pick colors. For a moment, I actually felt myself get excited about everything. Nick was pointing out many things and even agreed to do earthy tones with a few touches of dark, which I agreed to, Nick smiled at me,
"It's like we're a real couple, planning our wedding that we weren't forced into." He said, I gave him a weak smile. We continued planning until Nick had to leave to do some work, so I decided to watch some TV. , so I decided to write a letter to my mother; I haven't written to her since I got here, so it's a perfect time. I went over to the desk in my room and started writing,
'Hey Mom, it's been a while. I found out a lot over this last week; first, Nick is trying really hard to get me to like him, it's sweet. Second, he took me to the house of the witches and I discovered that Nicholas is my mate.' I wipe some of my tears away, 'A vampire is my mate. How could the Moon Goddess pair me with a vampire? I don't know what to do, Mom. What about children? Would they be hybrids? I feel like I should tell him but I don't know if I want to be with him; maybe I should reject him, at least then I'd be free to find someone that I could truly love. I wish you were here to help me, Mom, I need your advice; I don't have anyone here to confide in. I love you, Mom, I'll write again soon.' I close my notebook and put the pen in the holder. Getting up, I walk over to the couch and turn on a movie while humming a melody in my head.
Later that evening, I went downstairs for dinner, I sighed as I ate alone, I began singing a song I wrote with my mother; it was one that she would strum a guitar while I played the piano, it was a soft melody but then would pick up around the end of the first verse. Little did I know, I was performing in front of a small audience, when I finished the song, clapping was heard from behind me which caused me to turn my head to see Nick, his parents, and a tall woman with raven black hair and piercing blue eyes, much like Nick's. I blushed madly as they came in and sat down. Nick, after kissing my cheek, took a seat next to me, "Hi, I'm Mandy, Nicholas's sister." we shook hands,
"Aiday. It's nice to meet you." I said to her; Nick smiled,
"My sister is in town for a few months, mostly on business but a bit of a vacation as well." Mandy nodded,
"Yes, and I believe Amanda said that she's bringing a friend to the engagement party tomorrow night." Nick's mother said, I raised an eyebrow and looked at Nick, who seemed just as surprised as me,
"Mother, what engagement party? We haven't heard anything about it." Nick asked her, Nick's father just went to chat with one of the servants, "Mother?" Nick said again,
"I planned a small party for the two of you, did I not mention it?" I took a breath while trying to keep my composure,
"A heads up would have been appreciated, Mother. Aiday is still trying to get settled here and I didn't want to put so much on her." Nick stated, I just put on a smile and placed a hand on his arm, which made him look at me,
"It's fine, Nick, it sounds like fun. It gives me a chance to meet my future subjects since I will be queen."
"Are you sure? You don't have to." Nick said, I smiled,
"I'm sure, it'll be fine. But I didn't bring anything formal, mostly because I didn't have any." Nick chuckled,
"Don't worry, we'll go shopping for you tomorrow morning." He told me, I nodded as I finished my dinner. After dinner and some light conversation, I went to my room and went to bed, thinking about everything that has happened today.
