Chapter 2 2. Why you came back

Chapter 2

-Anastasia's POV-

"Why?" I murmured as Ajax took off his shirt and covered me with it.

He didn't answer me but helped me stand up before pulling me closer to his chest.

"Why are you here?" I stared at his sad face as he guided me out of the house. The locked door was already open, but I couldn't care less. I couldn't believe he was here. "After two years?"

"I will explain." He gave me a blank look before he turned around and threw me into the backseat of a jeep parked by the house. He didn't kill the twin sons of Alpha Don but only kicked their asses. Was that what a brother should do for his younger sister? I didn't know and didn't want to know.

For the moment I only wanted to know why he came back. Just in the way he left, he returned without a reason.

I bit my lips and watched him getting on the driver's seat and starting the engine.

"Why can't you explain now?"

My nails sank in my palms, but I didn't care about the pain.

"We have to leave as soon as possible." He looked at the route and didn't even glance at me. This gave me a feeling of the way Jenna and Anne treated me, though he was supposed to be my older brother, my only family in the world.

I could feel my tears welling up in my eyes. I tried to control them but I couldn't. "Explain to me, NOW!"

I didn't know why I just burst into tears. Usually I would hold them back because tears were a sign of weakness. And I didn't want to look weak in front of my bullies. But at this point I didn't care.

I hated him.

He had left me living in hell and gone out without telling me what he had been leaving for. I had suffered from the worry about him at first and then at myself...God knew how I had survived the torture. But after two years he just showed up out of nowhere, took me with him, and was now leading me to a place I didn't know about.

The d*mn selfish man! How could he return and act like nothing happened?

I jumped on him, forcing him to stop the car in the middle of the woods. He wrestled with me, trying to take control of the steering wheel before he could press the brake and stopped the car.

"Are you crazy?" Ajax shouted at me and pried off my hands away from the steering wheel as the car screeched to a halt. He jumped out of the jeep and dragged me out of it.

"You wanna a fight?" he demanded, pushing me onto the ground and crossing his arms.

"Yes! You're driving me crazy and I just want to kick your *ss!" I shrieked and pounced on him after getting on my feet.

In an agile manner, he ducked and swept me down with his right leg. I bounced up from the ground before hitting his gut with my fists.

He let out a painful growl and pulled my hair, angling my head so that I'm facing him. I could not help but loosen my control of his legs and I was lifted up in the air.

I grabbed his hands tightly in order to ease his grip of my hair. "Let me go, you jerk!"

"Now can you listen to me?" he said calmly as though we never had a fight just now.

"NO!" I screamed and kicked him in his crotch. He collapsed on his knees, his grip on my hair loosening as his hands flew to the area I just kicked.

"Now can you listen to me?" I smirked and stepped towards him before he swept me down.

"Didn't you learn a lesson after getting your *ss handed to you?" He laughed loudly and grabbed my arms before I could react to him. "You're persistent."

My face heated up. My anger got welled up in my chest. "Say whatever you want."

He sighed and said with his knees on my back, "Just want you to know I won't really hurt you, sister."

I bit my lips and answered back with teeth clenched. "Huh, you call me sister? I don't remember I have a brother!"

He didn't answer. Instead he just boarded into the jeep and didn't say anything. I sat on the backseat glaring at his back. I knew he could see me from the mirror but I didn't care if he would give me another fight after he got pissed off.

But he didn't. He just drove his car when I was huffing like a wounded lioness.

Damn it. I knew nothing about my only family who just saved me from the twin perverts' hands but later kicked my ass. What kind of guy was he? Why did he save me yet bully me?

Ajax remained silent on the way to his so-called Night Howlers Pack after sending me in the jeep. I knew I was not strong enough to kick him off so I chose to tough it out by staying with him for the moment. Anyway, I was good at enduring tortures after being left alone.

After a while, Ajax talked all the way there even when I gave him no answers. He looked like an idiot.

"Anastasia, we will arrive in a new pack. You can start a new life there."

A new life...God knew if it was real.

"No one will bully you, I promise."

Your promise meant nothing to me!

"But you need to obey the rules there. They are strict."

Godda*mn. I knew how to obey rules. I always knew.

"We will see the Alpha first and then I will show you around."

Who cared who the Alpha was...Every alpha was the same. Cruel and commanding.

But I already started to imagine what he would look like...A pointed nose like Ajax? As tall as Jenna's father? It is rumored he is the most handsome Alpha in North America.

Ajax stopped suddenly in front of an office and my nose hit his back because my thoughts were wandering wildly...

He didn't give a look at me and told me to stay outside before he knocked on the door and went in.

I sat down on the couch, waiting for him to come out. Why was I always controlled by others? I had to listen to Aunt Mary when I was at her home. Now I had to listen to Ajax.

When could I live a normal life?

Ajax came out soon and patted my shoulders, "You have to see the Alpha." I shrugged off his hands and strode to the office when I knocked on the door.

I swallowed and heard a man's deep voice, "Come in."

He had a melodious voice and it somehow made me shiver. I didn't know what the feeling was...Ajax nudged me to go inside. I gave him a glare and opened the door.

There sat a square shouldered man who lifted up his head when he heard the door creaking. He had blue eyes whose color was like the ocean of depth, which reminded me of his voice. The thin lips...they kinda impressed me. I once heard that men with thin lips were cold-hearted. Was he emotionless?

The afternoon sunlight was still dazzling and scorching, but his gaze left me soaked in coolness. The heat I was enduring went away as soon as we had eye contact.

He stood up from his leather chair and strode to me before he called me

"Anastasia?"

That was the moment I recalled another rumor.

He was also the most dangerous Alpha in North America.

And he was gonna kill me. Definitely.
