Chapter 4 WHO THE HELL IS HE

Davina got out of the car and headed straight for the main entrance of the three storey building duplex apartment, which she resided in with her father, who was barely even around. She practically lived all by herself.

The house would have been really lonely if not for the maids, cleaners, drivers, gatemen and of course the housekeeper of the household.

It wasn't like Davina related with them anyway, infact, she barely saw the workers of the household eye to eye. Except Mrs Darlington the housekeeper who had to directly report to her as per her father's orders.

Everyone said that it was because of work that her father was barely home but Davina doubted this greatly and she had good reasons to.

It had been ten years... Well, not exactly ten years but what was a day anyway? Davina sighed as thoughts of her mother filled her mind. Her sweet loving mother. She missed her so much.

And it seemed like her mother wasn't the only one she had lost that day. She had lost her father as well...

Stepping into the shower after stripping her clothings off herself, she turned it on at full blast and just let it rain down on her. As she relaxed from its coolness, her mind raced.

"So much for being successful!" she thought, and then stepped out of the shower, grabbing a bathrobe and her towels as she left the bathroom with water dripping from her body, most especially her hair.

After dressing in simple yet elegant clothes and accessories, Davina stepped out of her bedroom and moved to the sitting room. She picked the remote control and grabbed some cookies from the fridge and then settled on a sofa in the sitting room.

Just then her phone rang. Glancing at the caller's ID, Davina's face lit up immediately.

"Dad," she muttered, the excitement evident in her voice.

It had been quite a while since she last heard from her father... "How long has it been since her dad called her? Three months?" Davina couldn't remember... Not to mention the last time she had seen him...

"There is an important meeting in the company tomorrow, I need you to be a part of it. I already called your manager to explain things to her. She would adjust your schedule to make it fit," came her father's domineering tone.

Davina hummed a reply, and then sighed softly.

"Of course her dad had called her for work related reasons..." she thought to herself, trying hard not to scoff.

"Dad... Are you umm, in the country?" Davina asked.

"No dear, I am not. I can't be at the meeting tomorrow either, that is why I need you to be there."

Her father paused and she heard some voices in the background. She couldn't make out what they were saying though.

"I have to go. I have got my hands full here. Take care," he mumbled quickly, in one breath."

"Okay... Love..." the call got disconnected before she could let out the "You." she swallowed the last word and sighed.

Davina sighed again, and then put away her phone. She stood up and picked up a book, which was in the centre table, and then returned the remote control to its place.

Grabbing a cookie and a pen, Davina sat down and placed the book on her laps. She opened the book and started to write...

"Dear diary," she started...

An hour later, Davina heard the honking of a car. She rushed towards the window to peep out expectantly. Even though her father had told her that he wouldn't be in the country tomorrow, Davina couldn't help but still have some hope that it could be him. That he remembered. That he had only intended to surprise her.

Her hopes were however dashed straight to the floor when she caught the housekeeper's Audi. She hissed and returned to her Diary.

"Wow!" Jace had not stopped exclaiming, since they had taken that first turn that led to this luxurious private villa.

The roads alone that led to the villa was like nothing he had ever seen. The arrangement of different types of flowers on flower beds extended even until they got to the villa.

As soon as they drove into the villa, Jace got out of the car and started to give himself a tour of the place all the way to the back of the building.

Mrs. Darlington just followed her excited son unhurriedly.

There was a manicured garden. A swimming pool.

What fascinated him the most though was a beach house in the building too, a small beach house which led directly to a beach at the back. Jace was already in love with the natural and serene environment. But one thing bugged him though. He couldn't help but feel like he had seen this place before.

"Where have I seen this place before?" Jace wondered, thinking deeply. He couldn't remember.

"Who do you say lives here mom?" Jace turned to his mother as he asked.

She smiled, and then opened her mouth to speak but before any word could leave her mouth, another voice rang out.

"What is going on here?" the voice that spoke was angelic. Maybe too angelic that Jace failed to miss the harshness of it.

Jace's eyes immediately traced the voice to an approaching figure. His mother turned and came to stand beside him.

Jace felt his heart miss a beat as the face of the owner of the voice came into view.

It was already the late hours of the evening but the house was lit up quite brightly and beautifully.

Well, except for the part of the house they were standing at now, by the beach. It was beautiful no doubt but not lit up as brightly as the rest of the house. The lights of that part of the house were off so the place was only lit by the crescent moon in the sky above.

"Cassie, who the hell is he?"

The moment Jace's brain registered the girl's words, the spell broke.

"Did she just call his mother by her first name!" he screamed internally.
