Chapter 4 She doesnt know

Derick

I was coming from welcoming another human camper when I met Tania; she was coming out of her chalet but what made me go closer to her was the glowing tattoo she had running down from her neck then disappearing inside the top she had on. It looked mesmerizing; I made small talk with her keeping my eyes on the glowing tattoo trying to see the kind of ink that was used to make it. I wanted to ask her about it, but I just met her, and it would not be appropriate.

I left her after saying she was going to the river, and I also have work to sort out in the packhouse on the other side of the campsite. As I was walking to my jeep, a mind link came through. 'Beta Derick, something is wrong with the human, come quickly.' Says one of my pack members who works at the cornfield. I wondered what could be wrong with Tania because she was fine a moment ago. 'What is wrong with her?' I asked.

'I think it's best you see for yourself.' I hurried down the path she took and when I came to view, everywhere she passes the corn came back to life. 'Is that...?' I asked through the mind link but was not sure what I am asking or what I am seeing. I walk behind her and watched as the cornfield came to life. I don't know what is happening here or maybe she is a witch but then again, she doesn't carry a scent of a witch. Then what is she?

'I will stay with her, tell me if the corn stays alive.' I tell them then hurry to join Tania; she doesn't look dangerous at all but for the sake of my pack I will keep an eye on her to see what she does. I tell her about the history of the place playing a good tourist guide and she seems fascinated by what she hears. But as we walk, I keep an eye on everything, it's all coming to life, and she is not going anything to bring them back to life. At least not that I can see.

When we get to the river, she is quick to kick off her shoes and dips her feet in the water. The strangest thing happens, the water sparkles like fairy dust just got sprinkled on it, and this kind of scares me. I need to tell Samuel about this and keep a close eye on this human. I tell her I am coming, and I leave her there. I run to the packhouse quickly in search of my alpha, but he was not there and was not available on the mind link.

He must still be with the witches; I pick some berries on the way back so that I don't come empty-handed and of course she loves then. I never thought we would see these grow here anytime soon, they used to be here when we were kids but then one day they were just not there; I was surprised to see them there again and I am sure the human has something to do with it. We spend a couple of hours at the river then she tells me she wants to see the garden.

Seeing what she did with the cornfield I was more than eager to take her to the garden and by the looks of things, it does seem like she is aware of what she is doing. Or maybe she is so used to it that is second nature to her, either way, I take her a different route going to the garden taking her through the woods. Wildflowers blossom as she passes, I even spot wolfbane here and there. We must get rid of that but how is she doing that?

Maybe when we get to the garden, I will ask her about it. "This place is amazing; I am loving it," She says with excitement, and I give her a small smile. "Am glad you like it," I tell her and we come to the gates of the garden, she frowns. "What could be killing these beautiful flowers? Damnit, I came at the wrong time, am sure it's beautiful." She says and I just look at her. Does she not see that the flowers right at the gate where she is standing are already coming to life?"

"Go on and look around, I will stand here." He nods and moves around the garden. The same thing happens the flowers bloom and the color returns to the garden. "Tania!" I call her and she doesn't turn but answers, anyway. "Yes, Derick?" I shake my head not able to comprehend all of this. "Look behind you," I tell her and she halts then turns. Her eyes lit up, and she smiles widely. "Oh, my God! They are beautiful" dear Goddess, is something wrong with this woman?

"You did this Tania." She frowns. "No, I didn't." She denies. "Look at where I am standing then look at the path you took until there." She looks and I see disbelief in her eyes. "This must be one of many secrets this place has, there is no way I did this." I sighed feeling defeated. "Tania, look at me." she does as ask. "This has never happened here, as I said I don't know what is killing the plant but if we go back the way we came from your chalet, you will see even the cornfield came to life. You did this." She shakes her head.

"I didn't do this!" she shouts and walks fast coming my way. She tries to move past me, but I hold her then turn her back to look at the garden. "Look at the dead flowers you just passed, they are coming to life, look at this entire garden, five minutes ago when we arrive you saw that every flower in here was withering away and dying. But look at it now." She stills for a couple of seconds looking at the garden. She then shrugs me off.

"I am going back, am tired." She tells me then walks away and I follow behind. "If you don't know how you are doing this, then let us at least talk about it and figure out what is going on," I say catching up with her. "I just want to be alone for now." She tells me, her reaction tells me she doesn't know what is happening, and she doesn't seem to fake it. Something is up here, and we must find out before she leaves.

I must talk to Samuel, maybe he will have an idea of what is going on. The walk back to her chalet is silent but the dead plant and grass don't stop coming to life as she passes them. it's like she is healing them just by walking amongst them. Yet, she doesn't know she is the one doing it. "Before I leave, can I ask you a question?" She looks at me then nods.

I don't like the look she had in her eyes now; the excitement is gone and that light she had in her eyes is gone as well. It's my fault I know but I have to find out what is happening here. "Where you live, did you not notice something like this happening?" she shakes her head. "I wouldn't have, we are far from nature there, there are a lot of tall buildings and factories. Nothing like this and that is why I came here for my trip." This explains why she was shocked by this.

"Okay then, I will see you tomorrow, and please forgive me for ruining your first day." She nods then gets into the chalet without looking back again, I feel sorry for what I did but I am afraid I can't let it go. Alpha has to know, and she must give us answers.
