"I think you're swearing too much now Dani..."
"I don't fucking care, i just want to teach that Royal pain-in-the-butt, lame and dickless prince a lesson..."
"Woah! Woah! That's way more swearing for one person." Aldrin joked and she chuckled,
"Way too much you say?
I haven't even started." She sighed.
"Why didn't you use your fist on him? I didn't know you would ever bitch about someone like this, you always use your fist first then bitch later.
What happened this time?" He asked mockingly, she sighed and swat his arm playfully,
"Maybe because I don't want to end up in detention or worst suspension and have my mom start those silly and annoying lectures of hers on me."
"You're quite right, but that isn't the only reason." He emphasized and she frowned,
"What do you mean?"
"Don't you think?
Apart from Geneva, no one has ever rile you up this way to make you bitch for over two hours now."
"Aldrin, I think you need a reminder that my fist are in good shape and they work at any time.."
"I don't need a reminder for that." He said and dropped it.
They came to the path where they're to go their different way and turned to each other,
"See ya later." Danila said to him and they did their special handshake,
"Bye and see you at practice later." He said to her, she nodded and they parted ways.
For Lucas it was worst, not only was he given a dhampir when he doesn't need one but he was also insulted by her. She'd the effrontery to tell him to his face that he's no better than a ten years old dhampir.
What nonsense?
No girl had ever had the guts tp talk to him like that, none at all and now, this ordinary dhampir girl insulted him, she didn't only insulted him but even compared him to a ten years old child, making him feel less of himself, like a child that needs a babysitter.
Fuck!
He's going to make her pay. For every trash she said about him, he's sure going to make her pay or else, he doesn't have the Ozera blood flowing through his veins.
Since she would be guarding him twenty four hours everyday, Danila was suppose to move in with Lucas, but putting their gender differences and to uphold the school moral values, she was moved to the next room after his, at least, they can be close to each other.
None of them liked the idea, especially Danila.
"Why can't he be moved to my quarters? Why do I have to be the one to be moved down to his quarters?" She whined when Xerxes told her of the new arrangement the next day.
They'd just got out of church service which ended early cause the Queen had an urgent meeting to attend, so wasn't present to address Lucas's case.
"Two reasons. One, because he's royalty and two, because you're the one guarding him and not the other way round.
Let me ask you this, if you're to apply for the job of a bodyguard, do you stay with your boss or he come stay with you?" She sighed and looked away for a moment, then she turned back to him,
"But I didn't apply for this one. I didn't want to be his dhampir in the first place. I just want to have fun in my final year, graduate and probably go make good use of my life."
"You can still do all of that if you want to..." He paused and took her hand, then led to her out of the pavement to the lawn and he made her on the wooden bench then he sat next to her.
"A wise person once said, when life gives you lemon, you make lemonade...."
"My lemons are way too much to make a good lemonade." She mumbled under her breathe.
He heard her but that wasn't why he'd called her, so he ignored her sarcastic comment and continued.
"You can still have all the fun you want. Being a guardian isn't as bad as you've deemed it to be, it can be fun too, as fun as your normal training.
I know you love training, Xavier told me so and I've seen it too." He said to her,
"You can see this one as a practical training and no lie, it's fun like the normal training." She rolled her eyes and sighed,
"Yeah right, it's."
"Danila, as a dhampir and a vampire, this is an important stage in your life and I don't you want to let it slip because of a rude prince..."
"At least, you see what I saw in him." She mumbled, he ignored her comment still and continued.
"Your mom is among the most fearsome and strongest female guardians in the world and she'll be very proud to hear of this news.
Don't you think it's expected of you to give her that honor..."
"Like I care about what she thinks? Blah!"
Xerxes chuckled, she sighed and began,
"The only family I've ever had is this academy and of course, Aldrin's family.
My mom, she's just there, like a god. She can reach down to me whenever she wants but I can't reach up to her when I want."
Xerxes was touched by her words.
It reminded him a part of himself he'd wish to forget but haven't been able to.
"I'm proud of her as one of the strongest guardian who's killed several bad ass strigois but I'm definitely not proud of her as my mother, not at all."
He looked at her, the pain and hurt that flashed her face was evident to him.
However, she masked them with a chivalrous smile a second later,
"Never mind I said those." She got up from the seat,
"Don't worry, I'll try to be nicer to your royal pain-in-the-butt prince." She said and bade him goodbye before vanishing into the pavement, while he just sat there and watched disappearing figure till it went completely out of his sight.
As her best friend and the closest person to her, Aldrin helped Danila take her stuffs to her new dorm.
It was Monday and the beginning of a new week marked the beginning of her dhampir duties to Lucas.
"I'm really going to miss seeing your face everytime." He whined as they finished arranging the last of her stuffs in the room.
Unlike her old room, where she'd two roommates, this time she'd only one roommate and the girl was a dhampir too.
Diana or whatever her name was.
"Quit being a baby.
We'll get to see at practice every night and morning for the next seven weeks, so we'll get to see more of ourselves from now." She punched his shoulder playfully and he sighed.
"You sure aren't bringing you big baby to training right?" He mocked, switching the sad expression on his face to a mocking one.
"That big baby? Duh!
I'd rather bring a teddy bear cause it'll be of more use than him." She asserted and they started to laugh.
The door burst open and Lucas walked into the room, their laughter continued and was even much more worst than when he wasn't there with them.
"What's funny?" He asked, irritated already at their annoying laughter, Danila did stop laughing, but she ignored his presence like no one had come in, infuriating him the more.
"Aldrin, I think my job as a babysitter has just begun." She pulled close to Aldrin and gave him a peck on his cheek, right in front of Lucas, who wasn't only feeling insulted for being ignored but was mad at her pecking Aldrin in front of him.
"See you at practice." She said when she pulled away from him, Aldrin smiled and he flashed her one last smile before he bade them goodbye and left the room, closing the door behind him.
Immediately he did, Danila turned to Lucas with a sarcastic smile,
"What does His Royal Highness wants?" She asked him, crossing her arms across her chest, staring at him belligerently.
He was really tempted to compel her to hurt herselfor worst, even use his fire magic to set her ablaze, but with her staring at him like that, he found himself dumbfounded, staring at her like he was being hypnotized by her eyes.
