Chapter 4 FOUR

Later that day, Danila's presence was requested for in the Royal Court.

She knew why the Guardian Councils had requested her presence and deep down her, she prayed she never get chosen.

It was her final year in the academy and unlike her junior year and her episode with her moroi, Geneva Sarony, she really wanted her final year to go smoothly for her.

"Don't worry Dani, I don't think the councils would appoint you to be his dhampir protector." Aldrin assured her when she won't stop murmuring in anger why she was chosen to even appear there.

"You're strong, Danila.

Stronger than most of us here but the councils won't want a girl to be the future King's guardian. It's totally absurd if they do but I've a feeling you won't get chosen.."

"They better not choose me cause I might end up sending their precious prince to the hospital."

Aldrin chuckled at her words which he knew were true.

If there waa one thing he'd come to know about Danila, it should be her quick fist. She's all about action before words.

She's the type that would use her fist first before calming down to ask what happened or why it had happened.

She literarily has no weakness, none he knew of even after being her best friend for over five years now.

Though, he isn't surprised by that fact, after all her mother is the famous dhampir guardian, Anne-Marie Kirova and she's known widely for her acute strength, smartness, beauty and commitment to her guardian duties.

She might not be the best mother to Danila but evidently, she's the best guardian any moroi can get.

Aldrin walked Danila to the entrance of the court and they stopped by the large double door.

"Okay girlfriend, do your worst in there and make sure you don't get chosen." He encouraged her and she smiled,

"If there's any more worst crime than punching a royal Moroi in his face, spill it now cause I'm about to kill someone who isn't a bad ass strigoi." She snorted, making Aldrin laugh out loud.

"Hmm hmm." Someone cleared his throat behind them and both Danila and Aldrin turned to see Comrade Xerxes behind them with a not so impressed looking on his face.

"Aldrin Lazar, don't you've class to attend?" He asked Aldrin,

"I've too, but I'm being called here for some dickless prince." Danila murmured under her breathe, which unfortunately both Xerxes and Aldrin heard it and the latter began to laugh.

"Aldrin, to class now. Danila, inside the court." The man ordered, Aldrin nodded immediately and left while Danila sighed but still stood where she was.

"Go inside Danila." Xerxes repeated, she looked at him with a sarcastic smile and went inside the court.

All this she was doing to ensure she doesn't get picked.

There were two other male dhampirs students in the hall and both, just like Danila had completed their Black Moon (New Moon) training.

She sighed when she saw she was the only female in the court with two male Dhampir students and four higher ups gaurdian including Xerxes.

Why would they even bring her here?

Fuck these stupid Guardian Councils.

"The Guardian Council had chose the three of you because we've watched and saw you three are the remarkably the strongest dhampirs in the academy, acing all your trainings." Guardian Berkowitz began straight up after greeting the students.

"Your instructions have had good reports on you three and now, one of you is about to be chosen to protect the most important royal moroi...."

Yeah right, the most dickless royal moroi.

Who cares about him?

Duh!

Danila's thoughts kept roaming around without restraints, picking random topics to think and ponder on.

It went on like that for a few minutes before she heard her name,

"Uh!" She mouthed, averting her gaze from the floor to the men in front of her.

"Were you paying attention to what Guardian Berkowitz was saying?" It was Xerxes asking her and everyone in the hall had their eyes on her.

"No." She replied honestly and the guy beside her on the right, Mason or whatever his name was, snickered,

"Smart mouth."

"Smarter than your brain." She hissed at him and turned to the higher ups seated across the table.

"Sorry Guardian Berkowitz for not listening to your exceptionally long speech but, I didn't want to be here in the first place." She told the men and turned to the two guys beside her,

"You can fight for the prince but I'm not interested in protecting him. Don't wanna take the risk of sending a royal moroi to the hospital. So goodbye y'all." She stepped out of the qeueu and turned to leave but a voice stopped her.

"Danila Kirova, not so fast." It was Xerxes voice as the rest people in the room were left astound at her quick-witted mouth.

She turned with a sigh,

"Where do you think you're going to?" He asked her and got up from the seat,

"To class I guess.

I'd rather seat down in a boring History class than stay here and listen to your exceptionally long sermon, which obviously, I'm not interested in.".

"Guardian Berkowitz, Guardian Mengoni and Guardian Giraudoux, can I have at least, a minute of your time?" Xerxes asked the older men and they nodded.

They all stood up and followed him, leaving Danila and the two male students.

"Seems like someone's smart mouth is sending her to lock down.."

"Nah, rather she'll be tossed out to the pavement for manual labor." The other guy cuts in and both started to laugh.

Their words really infuriated Danila but she had to control herself not to start up a fight with them.

"Wonder why the councils even brought a female dhampir here in the first place?" One asked and the other nodded.

They of course didn't see reason why the G.C would select a female dhampir as candidate for the prince's protection.

"Because they knew she could singlehandedly beat up the two dickless male dhampirs they'd chosen too." She said with a sarcastic chuckle,

"You got some nerves girl...."

"Shut up you jerks, it'll take the both of you a whole year to learn what I was born with and bet me, the two of you against me, I'll beat your asses like those cherokee drums used in musical class." She mocked them.

The shorter one amongst the two rushed to hit her but just then, Xerxes came back with the three other guardians and seeing what was abut to unfold, he stopped them.

"Hey!" The boy stopped in his track and turned to the men while Danila just stared at him belligerently.

"You two, go get prince Lucas Ozera."

Then he averted his gaze to Danila,

" Kirova, the G.C have come to a decision you would be the prince's dhampir from now on." Xerxes informed her and the other three guardians nodded in affirmation.

"What the fuck!"

"Language, Kirova!" Guardian Berkowitz warned and Danila swallowed hard as she mumbled an unapologetic apology.

Damn! She didn't bargain for this, she doesn't want this.

Be the Prince's guardian. No. No. No.

I hate this!

"I'm sorry Guardian Monford, but it seems like you don't understand what I'd explained to you all a few minutes ago.

I'm not interested in..."

"Kirova, the councils have decided. You'll be the Prince's new dhampir and for the next seven weeks you're on training, you'll have to guard him for twenty four hours, six days in a week." Xerxes explained to her.

"You guys don't...."

"Kirova..."

"My names is Danila." She almost yelled at the man, but recalling he's a Blood Master 7 holder, a comrade and also a member of the Guardian Councils, she stood no chance against him.

Fuck y'all.

The two male dhampirs left them begrudgingly and one of them came back awhile later with Lucas.

"Lucas Ozera." Xerxes called him when he walked towards them and he scoffed,

"Well, we're not going to be taking much of your time but I think you should be aware of this.

The council and have decided this," He said and turned to Danila.

"She's Danila Kirova and will be your new dhampir."

"What the fuck!" Lucas yelled angrily and Xerxes turned to the men, giving them the I-told-you-so-look.

"Manners Ozera!" Guardian Giraudoux warned Lucas but he isn't someone who heed to people's warning, so he lashed out on the man.

"Manner you say?

Where do you expect me to buy one?" He scoffed and looked at Danila,

"You're talking about manners and yet you chose an ordinary girl as my dhampir..who does that?" He asked angrily,

"I was in the outside world for six months, SIX GOOD MONTHS and I was able to protect myself, why do you think I need a protector? Talk less when it's just an ordinary dhampir girl..."

"Danila is no ordinary dhampir girl Lucas." Xerxes pointed out to him,

"She's stronger than most male dhampirs and her mother is Anne-Marie Kirova, one of the famous and strongest guardians in the world." He admonished Lucas and the latter rolled his eyes with sarcasm.

"Does it look like I care who her parents are?" He sneered, Xerxes was about to say something but Danila cuts him short.

"Lucas Ozera or whatever the fuck your name is, I might be a girl, an ordinary dhampir girl but heaven knows that even five of you can't stand one of me." She said with an air of pride, bringing smile to Xerxe's face,

"You think because you were able to flee the acadmy and stayed in the human world for months had made you strong?

Hell no kid!

You're no less than a ten year old dhampir, so I suggest you keep your mouth shut."

Lucas was embarrassed at the insult she gave him but Danila cared less, she hadn't even started.

"And so you know, I don't even want to be your protector, more of like, I don't want to babysit you.

Not you, not any other moroi nor spin off royal and moroi, but I don't have any choice, so to make it easier for the both of us, you better keep your arrogance in your pocket and be of good behavior.

Trust me, you don't want to end up like your fellow pain-in-the-ass moroi, Geneva Sarony."

Xerxes turned to the other men,

"I told you guardians, there's no one fit for the Prince like Danila and there's no one fit for her like him. They're compatible, so this decision is far the best one so far."

The men concurred to his words, sure this was the best decision they'd made choosing a dhampir protector for a moroi.
