CHAPTER 5

We woke up the next day getting ready for school.

We went to the living, breakfast was ready, we ate and bid Mrs Ice goodbye and left in Elle's car.

We got to school.

"I wish my sixteenth can just repeat, I had fun last night, what about you?"

Elle said.

"Yes"

"Let's get to class"

On our way to class.

"Are you interested in cheerleading?"

"No"

"Why?"

"No reason, I just don't like it"

"Ok, at least you have to be in one of the activities"

"Ok, I will think about it"

Elle stopped, removed a poster on the notice board.

"The drama group needs a female lead role, I heard that the previous one suffered a bone dislocation during practice and is at the hospital"

"So?"

"Let's see maybe you can fill in for her"

"I don't think that's a good idea, I will embarrass myself. I don't even know how to act."

"Try something new, girl. Besides there's always a first time for everything in life and this my dear is no different"

"I am not so sure about this one." I hesitated with a dry chuckle

"The audition is starting after classes so don't worry about stage fright or anything that'll stop because I will be there as your one and only cheerleader"

Who gave her that position in my life? Somehow she's managed to force her charming aura into my life and truthfully, I could use that in this new location.

"Let's get to class then"

We proceed to class.

"Yes, I wanna see that star in you"

Elle said in excitement as soon as class wrapped.

We entered into the enormous theatre audition room. I wrote my name down and was given a script to perform.

"You can do this girl."

"I wish I had the kind of faith you have in me"

Honestly, with that kind of faith in a stranger, the world I guess will be a better place."

We both wore a smile.

I still don't understand why I'm here and doing this crazy stuff. Second guesses crossed my mind and I just wanted to pull myself up and exit the place but Elle's constant assuring smile and puppy face kind of charmed me to sit in place.

We watched as people took turns to audition for the female lead character and truth be told, they performed very well. Some of them must have had training prior to this audition because how can you act that well?

I walked to the raised platform when it was my turn and mounted it. If I wasn't wrong, I'd say there was about fifty five people in the room including the three judges.

Oh boy, here we go.

I immediately started reading the monologue written in the script.

Elle and I stepped into the hallway as soon as I finished the audition.

"You did great there, I hope you get picked, fingers crossed"

There's no keeping my fingers crossed because I did trash.

It was just a bid to make her less reluctant about the whole stage play issue.

Mrs Hart, the drama teacher had said they will paste the girl that gets the role on the notice board tomorrow morning and the extra roles we need.

"You are going to be a starrrrrr"

"We don't that yet"

"I know that, I will go home now, my family is meeting with one of my dad childhood friend"

"Ok, see you tomorrow"

"Bye"

"Bye star" She beamed before leaving.

Few minutes later, Mr West driver arrived.

I entered the car.

"Good afternoon Miss Sophie"

"Afternoon Thomas, what are you waiting for? let's go home"

"Mr West said I should pick up Miss Lucy too, I'm waiting for her"

"Ok"

Lucy entered the car.

I took my phone, log on instachat, replying to some message request.

I didn't want to say anything to Lucy, she might just pick up a fight with me and I'm not interested, I buried my head in my phone till we got home.

When we got home, Mr West was not at home.

I went to my room, took a shower, Sandy brought some snacks for me in my room, I ate them and lied on the bed, scrolling through some message requests that was sent to me.

I clicked on one of the message request that got answered, the username was goldfish 2000.

CHATS

"Hi"

"Hi"

He responded.

"How are you doing?"

I asked.

"I'm good and you?"

"Same"

"What's your real name? I'm sure your name can't be goldfish 2000"

"Yes, My name is Jake, what about you? Is Sophie your real name?"

"Yes, why didn't you use your real name?'

"I didn't feel like using it"

"Ok"

"Yea"

"How old are you?"

"I'm seventeen, you?"

"I'm just turning sixteen"

"Ok"

"Which school do you attend?"

"Starhills high school, you?"

"Hilltop high school"

"Ok, nice chatting with you"

He logged out.

That was my first long chat I have ever had on instachat apart from Elle.

It was six in the evening, I left my room for the living room.

When I got to the living room, Mr West hasn't arrived. Sandy was still preparing dinner. I sat down on one of the sofa in the living room, turned on the plasma, scrolling through some channels.

I watched some funny fifteen minutes videos.

"Dinner is ready"

Sandy announced.

"Won't we wait for Mr West?"

I asked because Mr West hasn't arrived.

"He is not coming home today"

"Why?"

"He travelled somewhere urgently to look into something, he didn't tell me where he went"

"Ok"

Lucy came out.

"Go to your room now!"

She yelled and looked at me.

I looked at her cofused.

"You heard me, I didn't stutter"

"Why?"

"My friends and I are having a sleep-over, if you know what that is, I don't want them to see a cheap girl in my father's house so leave"

"I want to eat dinner"

"Then take it to your room"

"Ok"

I took my food to my room. I don't know how long it is going take Lucy to accept me.

I sat down on the chair facing the table in my room, watched some movies on youtube.

I finished my dinner, left the plate on the table.

I slept off watching the kissing booth 2

I got to school the next day.

I couldn't find Elle, I called her.

"Where are you?"

"I'm right behind you"

I looked back and hung up.

"Good morning"

"Good morning star, let's check the notice board"

"Ok"

We entered the school building and head towards the notice board.

"Ok, look back, I want to see it first"

Elle said.

"Why can't we look at it together?"

"Don't ruin the special moment"

"Ok"

I turned back.

I wasn't interested before but now I'm eager to get the role.

I heard Elle screamed, I turn around.

"You got the lead"

Elle said in excitement.

"Wow"

"Are you excited?"

"Of course"

"I thought you weren't interested"

"I am now"

We jumped up and clapped our hands together in excitement.

"The rehersal is starting next week Tuesday"

"Ok"

"The days for rehersals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, don't be late, the time for the rehersal is the same time the cheerleaders pratice, I miss last week pratice, I don't want to miss next week, the captain might remove me"

"Ok"

"I want to look at your name on the notice board again"

She looked at it.

"I'm happy for you"

"Thanks"

The bell rang.

"Let's get to class"

We left the notice board.

"What are you doing this weekend?"

Elle asked.

"Nothing"

"Ok, let's watch a movie together"

"Elle......."

"I don't want to hear excuses, let's get to class"

She hold my hand and we went to class.
