Chapter 5 .......

Back to the hotel room.

Steve was reminiscing about their last night.

He stood up from the bed and put on his watch.

He left the hotel and drove back to the Evans mansion. When he entered he saw Martha was talking to the maids about the arrangement of the coming event the day after tomorrow."Mom, I am back", Steve said hugging his mother from behind. Meta's eyes filled with motherly love but soon replaced with touchiness. She acted being strict and said" You don't talk to me. Last night You were no where to be seen. You didn't even think it was needed to call me and tell me about your whereabouts. Do you think you have grown up so much huh , that you don't need us anymore? I am not gonna talk to you..You let me go".

Tears welled up in her eyes.

"Mom, Mom, Mom. Relax. Look, I am absolutely okay. I was just stuck in some entanglements. See, my phone is dead that's why i couldn't make a call nor could i receive any", Steve brought out his phone and showed it to Martha.

He wiped her tears with a tissue and teased her, " It's too easy to make you cry.. You actually cry like a baby! You are my big baby, aren't you? Now please stop crying, Please "

Martha Couldn't help laughing hearing her son's comment. She sobered up and said," Ok ok. You don't have to coax me anymore. You haven't had your breakfast yet,right?

Come and have something .Your dad will be coming now. Let us have breakfast together today."

Steve sat on his chair. He poured a glass of water for himself while looking around,"Mom, where is Aunt Meta? "

Steve usually wouldn't ask about anyone in the house. But today he asked it because he was concerned about Adalia. So, he asked it with a certain caution in his tone.

To Martha it sounded natural. She replied," Oh, she had left just a bit before your arrived. She was really worried.Adalia hadn't returned home last night. She couldn't get her through phone. She called her friend but didn't get any useful information..

She went back to her house right after getting a call from Adalia. Adalia has returned home that's why Meta left in a hurry. Adalia is a very sweet child. I don't know why she put her mother through so much worry.. Her mother is really vulnerable without her. Its not easy to bring up a child by a woman alone."

Sigh..

Steve listened. He didn't say anything. He was wondering how to apologise to her. But how should he do that. What he would say to help her to digest all these.. His head was about to explode.

"Steve."

"Steve"

Steve jolted back to the reality.

"Yes, you were saying..? Steve looked up and saw both of his parents were frowning looking at him.

George looked at him.

Steve even didn't realise When his father arrived at the dinning table.

It was rare to see Steve being so absent minded. Whenever he is like that, it gives George serious headache. He would get scared thinking if Steve was thinking about his real parents? What if he leaves him and the Evans family one day? How would his wife survive without him.

Spreading butter on a bread Martha started complaining, "Steve,You seem to be really gloomy after you have returned. Did anything happen? . Do you some problem.? Pleas tell dad if you are facing any difficulties.

" No, i don't have any problems. You guys continue. I am full.

Steve got up from the table.

A grumpy voice came from the table..

" Steve we were talking about the ceremony the day after morrow. You didn't say anything.

Are you not liking the arrangement? We can postpone it if you don't like these childish ceremonies " George said with a strick but loving voice.

'The day after tomorrow? Oh, its there anniversary.. How could i forget it?'Steve thougt to himself.

"Of course i don't have any complaints. I will definitely help you two to get the best anniversary this year. Then Steve kissed his mothers cheek and went upstairs to get washed up.
