Chapter 9 I Don't Trust You

The secret he had hidden for a long time was that he had a rare type of respiratory disease, that no matter what treatments he had undergone, nothing could make it better. Leoni was so discreet about his health that he didn't tell anyone; not even Jorge knew about it. He didn't want people to think he was weak. The next day, the young woman was a bit scared when she got to the company. After what happened at the company yesterday, she couldn't help but be a bit anxious.

While carrying out her tasks in the front entrance of the company, Louise came to face Leoni and his assistant entering the building. The girl froze when she saw him. The man stopped by a bookcase and regarded her with a cold gaze, staring straight into her eyes. Then, in silence, he followed to the elevator.

She sighed in relief seeing he go away. In the afternoon, right after lunch, she went to the room where they kept the cleaning tools, to pick up something she had forgotten. It was then when Leoni entered the room locking the door behind him before saying, "Tell me how much you want. Just name your price."

Taken aback by that question, she replied, "What price? What are you talking about?"

"Nothing in this world is free, and I know someone's silence isn't either. No one knows about my illness, not even Jorge. You are now the only one who knows and I don't want to take any chances."

"Why didn't you take good care of your health? Yesterday I got really scared, but luckily I remember my grandma going through something similar and what I have to do to help."

"Just answer the question I have asked you."

"Do you think everything in life is all about money? I don't want anything from you. I just need you to let me work in peace."

"What's your problem? I'm trying to pay you for your silence and you tell me you don't want anything?"

"Yes, that's my answer. If that was everything you needed from me sir, please do excuse me as I have things to do."

Louise went towards the door to leave, when the man suddenly turned around, pulled her by the arm and pushed her against the wall. He was breathing down her neck as she was between the wall and the man's chest. He was so strong that she couldn't run away. At that moment, her face and lips were very close to his, and then he said, "I don't trust you. If you tell my secret, I'll do whatever I have to finish you, understand?"

"I already gave you my word, sir"

Leoni, so close to her, could feel the fragrance of her hydrated skin, and froze in place looking into the sea of her eyes.

'How beautiful she is, ' he thought.

She looked into the man's eyes, displaying no reaction and no longer feeling afraid.

In that silence it was possible to hear someone knocking on the door and the voice of an employee talking to Williams, who couldn't open the door because it seemed that someone had locked it from the inside. Those on the outside started to force the door to open it.

Leoni got back to his senses and walked away from Louise, finally unlocking the door and leaving.

When the people outside saw him, they were embarrassed and apologized profusely.

"Mr. Leoni, we didn't know you were in there. Sir, please do forgive us."

Leoni left without saying anything and went to his office.

The employees entered the room, and then saw Louise there. Sinde entered as well and as soon as she saw her friend, she asked in a surprised tone, "Louise were you here with the Mr. Leoni?" What were they doing after all?

Louise left the room as she replied in an exhausted tone, "I need to finish my duties."

"What was happening in there?"

Louise didn't say anything more and simply left everyone outside looking at her. They were all surprised because they thought Leoni was alone in the room. Now everyone there knew that something was going on between them, including Williams and Cassia.
