Chapter 4 It Was Just An Accident!

So she entered the huge room, which was very beautiful, and saw something that made her very embarrassed.

On a sofa in the corner of the room there was a handsome man, shirtless, kissing a half-naked pretty girl. She guessed that this woman was a model, but she didn't know who the man was. The two had been caught by her in an intimate moment. Louise didn't know, but that man was no one other than the general manager of the company Leoni Fredo.

When the couple noticed Louise's presence, the model, named Jessica by the way, was very embarrassed.

"Didn't you say you would lock the door?"

"I didn't think it would be necessary. Nobody ever comes here," he replied.

Louise was very embarrassed.

"I'm so sorry. I will leave now."

"Wait!" The man stopped her in a serious tone.

"If you tell anyone about what you just saw, I'll make you quiet for good. Got it?"

"Yes, I got it."

She consented and soon left the room embarrassed and in fear of what that man could do.

Soon after, Leoni's phone rang. It was Jorge.

"Leoni, where are you? Don't forget our meeting in 30 minutes."

"Don't worry, I'm at the company already. I'll be there in time."

"Right."

Leoni hung up, got dressed and before leaving he heard Jessica's voice.

"We can continue later."

"No! We will continue this when I say so!" he said in a cold, serious tone.

Leoni then had a meeting with the shareholders and partners, and at the end of the meeting, when everyone had already left, Jorge approached him.

"I bet you were having a lot of fun?"

"What?"

"There're lipstick stains on your shirt."

"Mmm. Well, I was busy!"

"Yeah, right... Just... Don't make it that obvious... Hahaha."

"Shut up Jorge, the important thing is that we close the deal. I'm going to have lunch. See you later."

Leoni left the room and went down the hallway that led to his private elevator.

At that time Louise was leaving a room that she had just cleaned. It was then when a group of children ran pass her, making her lose her balance, and she unintentionally dropped the bottle of her detergent. Moments later, Leoni stepped exactly where the detergent was spilled. He slipped and fell hard to the floor.

The man's face darkened, and Louise turned pale, not knowing what to do.

"Are you alright, Mr. Leoni?" asked one of the assistants while helping him up.

Leoni with his face tinted in anger stood up and looked at Louise.

"You were responsible for this, weren't you? How dare you?"

The girl was very nervous and apologized profusely.

"Apologies? You think that's gonna work?" He smiled devilishly.

"That word doesn't exist in my vocabulary. What do you think you're doing, you useless wench?"

Louise didn't know who that man was, but she was furious with him humiliating her, so she questioned him.

"I'm no useless wench, you idiot!" she screamed.

"Don't you look at where you are going? I've apologized for my mistake. I don't have to listen to your bullshit.

In fact, you're just shameless shagging with women inside the company."

"What? How dare you talk to me like that? Who do you think you are?"

When Louise was about to respond, Williams, who was nearby and noticed the scene unfolding, came and said, "I deeply apologize, Mr. Leoni." He apologized while bowing.

Louise then realized who that man was.

Crap! He was Leoni Fredo, the general manager of the company!

"Williams, what on earth did you have in your mind when hiring this small rat to work here?" exclaimed Leoni.

Louise lowered her head.

"I'm really sorry, sir. She's a rookie, and today is just her second day."

"A newbie? I think this was the longest she would last here. SHE IS FIRED!"

"What???"

The girl panicked.

"I'm sorry I didn't know who you were. I wasn't aware of that."

"Glad you know, so now you can pack your stuff and leave."

Soon after Leoni said that, he left. All the employees that witnessed the scene were terrified.

They all agreed that the girl was crazy.

Jorge could hear the whole argument from afar and noticed the confusion, including the fact that his cousin left and that all the others were gossiping about it.

He looked at Louise from afar and saw she was about to cry.

Louise left there, completed humiliated. She had no idea what she was going to do.

On the way out she met Sinde who asked her what the commotion was all about.

"Louise, what happened? I heard you knocked Mr. Leoni to the ground and got fired? Is that true?"

Louise was crying as she looked at Sinde and explained that it had been an accident. She had no idea that man was the general manager, and now she didn't know what to do as she really needed that job.

"I understand, my friend. But that man is awful. He won't let it go, unlike the other director - that man you asked me about, Mr. Jorge. After this incident I should tell you, Mr. Jorge is the deputy general manager, also the cousin of Mr. Leoni and the nephew of the current president."

"Really?"

"Yes, he is very good and humble. Maybe if you talk to him he will help you."

"No way he would. He doesn't even know me, and he's probably already aware of the matter."

"Yeah, my friend. I'm sorry for you, and for not being able to help you sort it out."

Louise had been sitting in the staff room for a long time. She hadn't even had lunch yet, and her coworkers were very worried about her.

In the general manager's office... Jorge knocked on Leoni's door, and since Leoni was slightly calmer he entered after short knocks.

"Leoni, here are some documents for you to sign."

"Leave them there. I'll have a look later,"

he replied while still focusing on his computer.

"And... by the way, what on earth happened earlier today with that janitor?"

Leoni became irritated all over again hearing those words.

"That woman? Damn! Don't even mentioned that. It'll only make me mad."

"But what happened wasn't that big of a matter. I saw everything from afar, and I'm sure she didn't know who you were!"

"And once again you are defending the employees! That wench won't be working here any longer. I can't accept that type of behavior."

"I think we could deal with this situation in a different way."

"I don't want to talk about it any longer. I have bigger fish to fry."

"Well, let me handle it then."

"No! That woman won't work here anymore, and that is final, Jorge."

"Leoni, that girl really needs that job."

"And what do I have to do with it? It's not my problem."

"Man, please trust me. You know I'd never let you down, and... What if she gossips about what she saw in earlier."

Jorge said that in order to persuade him.

Leoni thought for a second and impatiently replied, "Okay Jorge, take care of this matter, but I'll tell you now, if this woman crosses my path again, I'll end her, got it?"

"Note taken!"

Jorge left his cousin's room, and then went looking for Louise, who was leaving with all her belongings. He saw her from a distance and ordered his assistant to go to her, and take her to his office.

When the girl got to the office, she gave him a sad smile and he smiled back at her.

"How is your wound?"

"It's alright, Mr. Jorge."

Louise knew who was in front of her now.

"Good, Miss Louise, because our hallways will need both your hands."

"You mean the cleaning job? Unfortunately I got fired today."

"I know, and I just took care of it."

"Excuse me?"

"That's what you heard. Leoni backtracked, with one condition: that you stay away from him. Can you do that?"

"Absolutely! I will do my best, sir. You are a life saver."

"I just did what I did because you really need this job and you seem like a nice girl after all."

"From now on I will pull my best behaviour."

"Good. that's all I have to say. Leoni is very strict, so don't piss him off anymore, okay?"

"Absolutely."

Louise thanked him and went back home feeling relieved. She didn't know how to repay such kindness to Jorge, her secret crush.
