Chapter 5 THE INTERVIEW.

Lana followed the man into the large office,

By the other side of the glass table were three people,two men and one woman,

The woman sat in between the man in her elegant black suit, permed blonde hair and a light red lipstick,

She should be in her late thirties or early forties.

"Good day everyone." She greeted them and swallowed hard,

"Good day Ms Campbell,

Please have a seat." The woman said to her,

She counted her step forward and sat down while Mr Lawrence went to one of the men and whispered something to him,

The man nodded and Mr Lawrence retracted from him,

Gave Lana a light pat on her shoulder and left the room.

"Ms Campbell," The woman began after spending a few minutes glancing through Lana's files,

"Your just graduated from Paxton,

That's nice.

Congratulations." She flashed her a smile and Lana nodded,

A fake, nervous racking smile etch up her lips as she thanked the woman.

"What is your major?"

"Business Management and Administration." She replied him and she smiled,

"Yes,so I saw in your application." She said,

"So do you've any experience in Community Service?" The man on the left asked her and she nodded,

"Yes sir."

"So I see,

Six months volunteer for a non-governmental organization for cancer awareness." The man read out from her file and she nodded,recalling when she'd joined the program two years ago.

"What do you know about this company?" The woman asked her,

She'd expected this question and had done quite a good amount of research on the company and their modus operandi and for the next three minutes,

She gave a brief but detailed reply to that question,

The interviewers were satisfied.

"So why did you choose to intern here?

Your GPA are excellent and your credentials great,

Why chose Bluestone?" The dark haired man who seem to be in his early forties asked her,

"I chose Bluestone for various reasons," She began,

"It's no lie this is one of the most exclusive and prestigious enterprise in New York," The man nodded as she continued,

"Its productive and changed it'd brought to the society are top notched and one to be reckoned with.

Working here,

I'll get to put my business skill into practice and also able to learn from experts in the field of business,

Expert who I would learn from and in my own way make my own little change through that knowledge,

In this company and in the society at large,

Making it a far more better place for all."

"Okay,

No need of wasting time and resources cause they matter a lot,

Your credentials are good and so are your GPA,

I don't see any reason why I shouldn't accept your internship with us,

Unless you've reasons for me not to." The woman joked,

The men beside her smiled,

Yes, she might have gotten the backdoor deal but it was evident she'd both the brain and the talent for this job.

"Oh my God!" She exclaimed happily and surprised too,

She hadn't expected the interview to be just that,

Especially with the all she read of how this particular company operate,

She'd expected the interview to be rigid and tough but here,

Just in a twinkle of an eye,

She was done.

Touché.

"You can resume tomorrow morning and by then,

You'll be introduce to your team,

You get to socialize with them and they'll give you everything but of information you'll need working with them,

Plus,

So be prepared to come on board with us.

Once again,

Congratulations." The woman said to her,

"Congrats dear and welcome to Bluestone."

"A big congrats to you." The men added and with a cheery smile,

She thanked them again and again.

"Okay,

See you tomorrow." The woman said to her,

She picked her bag and got up from the seat,

"Okay sir,

Have a nice day."

With one more word of appreciation,

She made them goodbye and left the office.

Now she'd been accepted,

None of the stares from the people outside intimidated her,

She walked past them like she'd no care in the world.

An hour later,

Lana was at home nibbling on a potatoes chips from the refrigerator,

Suddenly her phone rang,she picked it up and it was Tristan calling.

"Hello Trist,

Good afternoon." She greeted him immediately she accepted the call,

Him hearing her voice after having a bad day,

His heart took a 180 degrees turn and his face lit up.

"How're you Lana?" He asked her,

"I'm fine,

Has the situation at the factory been settled?" She asked him,

He didn't want to be talking about it,

He didn't want to be talking about the factory or what he'd come there to do,

He want to be talking about them and have her tell him how much she'd missed but since she asked...

"Well,

The engineering is here and he's working on the faulty machinery,

Plus no serious injury or casualty were recorded." He explained,

"So how was your day?

What have you been doing?" He asked,pushing down his work related topic down the drain.

"Nothing,

I'm just home,re-watching ONLY ONE and nibbling on Bryan's chips." She said to him,

"What about you?

You've had lunch yet?" She asked concern filled,throwing one of the chips into her mouth,

"Not yet,

We were taking some mechanical survey around the place,

We finished awhile ago and I'll have lunch later." He explained.

"Okay,

Make sure you do,

I don't want you starving yourself to death,

So have lunch once you're done." She cautioned and he smiled,

The thought of her being concerned whether he'd lunch or not made him happy,like extremely happy and if care not taken,

He might even blush.

"Okay,

I would've lunch once I'm done." He replied obediently,

"And don't forget you're having dinner with us." She reminded abd he smiled,

How was he ever going to forget about that?

He can't and now,

He just can't wait for evening to come so he'll be with her,

Even though it's just for dinner.

"I won't forget about that either." He asserted,

"Okay,

I'll go back to my movies and give you time to finish your work." She said exhaustedly and he frowned,

He didn't want her to go,

He wanted her to be talking to him all day.

How absurd are his thoughts just because he's in love?

Talk all day,

Does she look like a robot to you?

He reprimanded himself.

"Okay,

Have a nice day Lana." He finally said,

"And you too,

Don't forget your lunch and my dinner." She reminded,

"I definitely won't." He assured her,

They went back and forth wishing pleasantries until she told him it was time to go and she bade him bye and hung up.

That evening,

Instead of the Eggplant Parmesan she'd wanted to prepare,

She settled for Vegetable Fried Rice with Buttered and Garlic Chicken cause she was sure she won't make any mess with that.

"Definitely,

I'm having the chicken breast." Bryan exclaimed while he sauteed the chicken,

"Then you'd better make it look good." She warned him as she left the kitchen to go freshen up since she was done.

"I'll.

It's no secret I'm a better chef than you would ever be." He mocked,

She walked past into the kitchen and took her cellphone,

"Remind me how you made burnt offering instead of a simple toast?" She asked,voice cloaked with mockery,

"C'mon,

I was distracted you know that..."

"Yes,

Distracted to make burnt offering." She sighed as she left the kitchen,

He shook his head and went back to his chicken before he'll make a mess of it and have her taunt him about it till he gets bald.
