I grabbed my things as I felt sudden aching in my heart. Warm liquid started to rushed down to my cheeks. Fuck...I couldn't imagine leaving this place. The place where I grew up but what can I do... it's too late for my odium.
When I saw a tricycle, I waved my right hand into the air and it made it stop.
"Where are we Ma'am?" the drivers' asked
"On the seaport, Mister, and please be in a hurry, I might..." my words were cut by a familiar voice shouting.
"NAYA!" when I turned my sight I saw Megan waving her hands on air.
"Wait for me!" she again shouted as she quickly runs towards me.
"What for...W-what are you doing here?" I confusedly asked her while my eyes are on her bags and luggage.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm coming with you," she announced the reason why my jaw dropped.
"What...are you crazy Megan?"
"Shut up okay! This is my life so I can do whatever I want. I'll go with you and that's what I want. I won't be happy here knowing that my best freight commitment suicide because of a freaking asshole." I was touched after hearing her words.
"But that..."
"This is my life Naya and I am the ruler of it, nothing else you can do but to let me go with you. So what are you waiting for? Give me some space to sit and oh...Mister tarsus the seaport. Faster!" she yelled and as soon as she has her seat...the tricycle began to run.
"That was so near," she said beside me while wiping out her sweats.
"Such a stupid Megan. you have your luxurious life here and yet you choose to stay with me.T hat's kinda good darling." sarcastically I said.
"Thanks." she just answered before giving me a wink.
While we're on our way to the seaport my heart was aching. I think any moment I would burst out of tears.
Right at this moment, I should be serving costumer in the café.W with my tired legs, I and Megan would have our rest under the shade of trees. Resting our both tired body and finding relaxation on the fine ocean waves.
My life was once peaceful but it just happened to be complicated when I met him.
He was my first love but I never expect that he would crush me into pieces.
Why?
Why did he leave me without any closure... without hearing his explanation?
Am I not enough for him?
I bitterly smiled.
Isn't it that clear Naya that he didn't love you in the first place because if he ever does...where is he then? Where is Timothy, the man who promised to marry you?
I took a heavy breath as I stepped out of the tricycle.
"Here." I handed him our fare.
"Thank you, Ma'am, come again." I was stunned as a bitter smile slip out on my lips.
Come again?
I'm not sure if I would come back here after I leave this island.
Could the wave of destiny bring me here again?
Coming back to this place might break me again. I can't take the possibility that if I will come back here...I will saw the man that once happy with me but eventually turned to be happy with someone else.
"Shall we?" Megan asked.
"LLet'sgo."
"GOODBYE SIARGAO!" all of the people in the terminal turned their gaze in our direction because of Mega.
"Shut your mouth, Megan!" I yelled but she just smiled at me playfully.
"Are you happy that we're gonna leave this island?" Megan asked me when we finally took our seats inside the boat.
"I would be the best liar in the world if I tell you that I am happy. O course I'm not..."
"Why?" she asked.
"What with the why? Of course, I'm not happy because I'm leaving..."
"You're not happy leaving this place because?"
"Because I'm leaving my life here..."
"Is that all?" my eyes become teary for a single moment.
"M-Megan?" fuck this! I'm so sensitive.
"Remember this Naya, when the engine of this boat start there's no turning back. Forget about the bad memories you have here...okay?"
"I tried my b-best..."
"God! Stop crying... people might accuse me that I'm hurting you."
I wiped my tears and focused my gaze on the vast ocean surrounding the whole island. How I wish that I don't need to leave this place. If I could go back to the day that I met him...I wouldn't let him wreck me again. I wouldn't give him the chance to hurt me.
It hurts because he gave me the promise but turns out to be just his promise. He said that he would marry me but he's marrying another girl god damnit! "Where are we Naya?" Megan asked while we're waiting for someone to fetch us.
"Just wait. We're waiting for someone."
"Waiting for someone? We're waiting for Christmas here Naya, can't we just ride the jeepney or even the bus?"
"Shut up Megan! Let's just wait for him..."
"Did you just said him? Geez...you already have a new boyfriend?" my mouth form an o.
"Megan... he's not my boyfriend okay. He's just my friend...a childhood best friend." I answered
"Shut your mouth for a while and I gonna called him...clear?" I added.
I dialed his number but unfortunately... unattended. Where the hell is he? Mosquitoes are eating us here!
"What? Is he here now?"
"He didn't pick his fucking phone. That bastard.... wait, he's here. Miko!" I shouted when I saw my childhood best friend.
"Naya?" his brows were knotted while looking at me.
"It's me...Naya."
"My God! Miko, you change a lot." my eyes were busy looking into his figure.
"How are you Naya?" he asked me.
I smiled."Pretty good." geez... that's a lie.
"Hmmm" I heard a deep cough from behind. I forgot I'm with Megan.
"By the way she's Megan...Megan, he's Miko the one I'm telling you a while ago."
Miko laid his hands but Megan just ignored it. This stubborn lady.
"I thought I'm your only best friend Naya?" she demanded beside me.
"I'm friendly Megan so I have lots of friends." I winked but she just rolled her eyes, looks like she's jealous
"Let's go girl. It's already late in the evening."
Miko opened the door car for us... gentleman. Beside me, I saw Megan playfully smiled while she was busy tracing Miko's figure. Ow...I smell something fishy.
