Chapter 3 Tell me it isn't so...

Chapter 2

Myra's pov

I could hear my phone going off, but I decided to just ignore it because I was mad at both Gabe and Noah. I can't believe he left like that. I kept telling him he could, but he swore he rather be with me. I just wish he would have woken me up and at least told me he was leaving. Noah just couldn't give us one night alone together. I was starting to feel like the third wheel in their bromance.

My phone was going off non-stop now and that was not normal. I had a bad feeling something was wrong, so I decided to go ahead and check it. I had a lot of missed calls and voicemails. From not only Gabe but Noah and Briel's brother as well. Now I was really worried. I got Gabe's text saying he was heading to the hospital with Briel. I didn't know my way around yet, so I got a cab and headed to where they were at.

I tried calling Gabe, but he didn't answer so I called Noah and got no answer. I was so worried and about to freak out. I felt like this cab was taking forever and no one was responding to me. I should have gone out with her tonight. I just wondered what could have happened. I thought Noah was with her so how could he let anything happen to her?

The cab finally dropped me off at the hospital and I immediately went to the front desk and asked where Briel was. They told me where to head and I took off. I had everything running through my head at once. I was scared. I felt guilty because I wasn't there and also because I didn't answer my phone right away. I was such a horrible friend.

I got to the waiting area they told me to go to and there I saw Gabe, Noah, Briel's mom, dad, and brother. Everyone looked so somber, and it made me wonder what was going on. The last time I saw her she was fine. She was dressed to kill. So, what could have gone down between then and now?

"Myra you're here." Gabe said.

"Yes, sorry I took a cab here once I got your message. What's going on?"

"Noah left Briel for only a few minutes to run to the restroom. When he came back, she could barely stand. He called me so I hurried and left to go get them. One look at her and I knew something was off, so we brought her here and now we're just waiting to find out what was going on."

"Oh no I should have been there. Did someone drug her?"

"We aren't sure but I'm thinking so just by the way she was acting. We're just waiting for the doctors to come in and tell us what's going on."

I tried not to cry because I wanted to be strong for everyone else. I went over and hugged Briel's mom and brother then went and sat by Gabe. This waiting was driving me crazy. You'd think they would know something by now. They say no news is good news but I'm not so sure it's true in this case.

I had a bad feeling come over me and an overwhelming feeling of dreed. I could feel tears coming to my eyes. I had to run to the bathroom to get sick and barely made it. Something was seriously wrong with Briel I could feel it deep in my bones. I truly hoped I was wrong. Maybe stress was just trying to play tricks on me.

"Hey baby girl are you ok?" Gabe asked as I sat back down.

"Yes, sorry I just didn't want to fall apart in front of everyone. I just needed a minute to myself."

Gabe held onto me and I was so glad I had him in my life. He kept promising me that everything was going to be ok. That Briel was fine. He knew more then I did since he was with her last. So, I believed him when he told me everything was going to be ok even though deep down, I knew they wouldn't be.

Gabe's pov

I was glad that Myra finally showed up, but I wondered why she wasn't here sooner. She was acting funny and not really talking to anyone. I knew she was inside her head racked with guilt. None of this was her fault and I was going to make sure she knew that.

We have been here for hours now and still no word on how Briel is doing. Her mom looks so fragile. Her dad and brother have gone up and asked over and over what was going on, yet they got no answers. I was fearing the worst. If she were ok, they would have come and told everyone by now.

Finally, a doctor came in and asked if we were Briel's family. We were then taken to a small room. I knew this wasn't going to be good. They took us into a room just like this to tell us that my grandma died. That couldn't be the case with Briel though because she was young and healthy.

"I am so sorry we did everything we could." The doctor said.

"What are you trying to say?" Briel's dad asked.

"I am so sorry to inform you that your daughters heart has stopped. We tried for over an hour to bring her back but were unable to."

"She was healthy how the hell did something like this happen?" Her brother asked.

"The drugs in her system were just too much for her body to handle."

"Briel didn't do drugs what the hell are you talking about?" Her father screamed.

"We are having a toxicology test being done. From what we've heard the police seem to think someone may have put something into her drink. Her death is under investigation. Once again I'm so sorry for your loss."

I looked over at the two people I loved the most. I ran to catch Myra as she collapsed. Noah was on his knees crying. How could this have happened? Briel was so young and had her whole future ahead of her and all that ended in the blink of an eye. Who the hell did this to her?
