Chapter 2 Moving Day

Chapter 1

Myra's pov

I was so excited today I was moving into my very first apartment with my best friend Briel. Classes didn't start for another week so we would have time to set it up perfectly and get to know the campus. My bf Gabe and our best friend Noah was helping us move in then we were all going to go out tonight to celebrate. They already moved into their apartment off campus two weeks ago, so they claimed to know where everything was. It was hard being away from Gabe for two weeks. Since freshman year when we got together, we have been inseparable. I trusted him so I know he didn't do anything bad I just missed him.

"Hey beautiful you look as if you're a million miles away what's running through that pretty little head of yours?" Gabe asked.

"I was just thinking how much I've missed you these last two weeks."

"Yea that was torture. I missed your tons baby girl."

"I say you never leave me again."

"I don't ever plan on it baby your mine forever and always."

He pulled me into him for a kiss. I loved being in his big strong arms it had a way of always making me feel safe and protected. He was the best boyfriend any girl could ever ask for. I just loved him so much and knew one day that I would be his wife.

"Will you too cut that lovey dovey shit out so we can hurry and get done I'm ready to go out and have some fun already." Noah said.

"You're just wanting to go out and find some women tonight so you can get laid." Gabe said.

"So, what if I am? Don't hate on me because your practically married. Not all of us can have what you two have ya know."

Gabe looked over at me and winked. I just giggled as I got back to work. Everyone always said Gabe and I acted as if we were already married. I don't know about all of that, but I did know we were committed to each other and would never do anything to jeopardize that.

Once we were all done, I was filthy, sore, exhausted, and starving. The last thing I wanted to do was go out, but I knew Gabe wanted to, so I just needed to suck it up and go with the flow. They left to go and get ready and said they'd be back in an hour to get us.

I let Briel take her shower first because she took longer to get ready. I loved her but she was extremely high maintenance. I guess you could say I'm pretty low maintenance. I'm more of a down to earth jeans and t-shirt type of girl. It won't take me long to get ready once I've showered.

I decided to lay down while I waited for Briel to get done. That was a huge mistake because I was way too exhausted. The next thing I knew I was being shaken awake. I looked up to see Gabe looking down at me and he didn't seem so happy. Damn I must have fallen asleep. Why didn't Briel wake me up?

"Gabe I'm so sorry I was waiting for Briel to shower and must have fallen asleep."

"If you didn't want to go out you could have just told me."

Was he seriously mad at me right now? I just fell asleep it wasn't like I did it intentionally. I've never seen him act like this. If he wanted to go out, then he just needed to leave and go out I wasn't stopping him. I'll just stay here and unwind.

"Baby girl if you're this tired I'll just order us a pizza and we can cuddle up and find something to watch. I much rather be alone with you any way."

I thought he was mad about not going out guess he was just upset that I didn't tell him how exhausted I was. He went and told Noah and Briel to go ahead and go out without us. They weren't happy about that but still went out any way. He also ordered pizza then came and climbed into bed with me.

The pizza came so I got up and got plates and put together a salad. He got both of us a beer then we sat at the table. I looked and Gabe and felt so blessed to have him in my life. I don't know what I'd do without him.

"I see you've got your head in the clouds again baby girl. Is everything ok?"

"I was just thinking of how lucky I am to have you."

"Oh, really well then tell me more."

"I love you."

"I love you too baby girl."

I laughed because I was so happy. We finished eating then went back into my room to lay down and watch a movie. There was no place I rather be then in Gabe's arms. He had one arm around me and the other he had holding his phone because Noah kept texting him.

"Gabe if you want to go hang with Noah it's fine, I don't mind."

"Nah baby girl I'll stay in with you it's fine."

I tried to get into the movie, but it was hard. I was just so tired. Soon I found myself starting to drift off again. I woke up and realized I was all alone. I wondered where Gabe was. I got up and looked around, but he wasn't here. Did he leave once I fell asleep?

Gabe's pov

I hated leaving Myra while she was asleep, but I got a call from Noah saying that Briel was sick and acting funny and he couldn't drive because he had a few beers. So, I decided to go and pick them up, so I knew they'd be safe. I was just going to run there pick them up then get back in bed with my girl. I doubt she would be mad about this. I just want to get back to her since I've been away from her way too much lately.

When I showed up Briel looked just awful. She looked like a sloppy drunk. She could barely stand and looked as if she were going to be sick at any minute. I've never seen her this bad before. How much did she have to drink and where the hell was Noah? Why would he let her get this bad?

"Dude what the hell how much has she had to drink?"

"she's only had two beers and one shot. I honestly don't know what's going on. I only left her to go to the restroom because some jackass spilled his beer on me when I came back, she was like this. I think someone slipped her something."

"We need to take her to the hospital."

"I agree something just isn't right with her."

Noah helped me get her into the car then he sat in the back so he could watch over her. I got into the driver's seat and sent Myra a quick text telling her what was going on. I wanted her to meet us at the hospital because I was nervous and really scared for Briel.

We got to the hospital and Briel looked even worse I ran in to get a nurse and a wheelchair. The nurse took one look at Briel and took off with her yelling things out as we got inside. We were ordered to the waiting room so now it was out of our hands.

I looked around and didn't see Myra. Did she not get my text? I tried calling her but only got her voicemail. Where could she be? This was her best friend she should be here. I was frantic because I felt like if we had gone out with them that this would never happen. We should have been there. What could be wrong with Briel? I wasn't mad at Noah because I did believe him when he told me he was with her all night except for a few minutes. He still cared for Briel, so he was really broken up about this.

I started to panic because I kept hearing code blues being called. I wondered what was going on with Briel and why no one was telling us anything. Noah called her family and told them what had happened. That was one phone call I'd never want to make. I was scared that Briel wouldn't make it and I'd have to tell my girl that her best friend died. She'd never forgive herself for not being with her. Hell, her and Noah couldn't survive that. She was going to be ok she just must.
