Chapter 4 Are You Here To Save Me

As soon as they walked into the elevator, Janice crouched on the ground, holding her head between her palms. Alivia wanted to say something to comfort her, but then, she realized that her words would not do much help to Janice.

With a heavy sigh, she simply held Janice in her arms, patting her on the back.

As soon as the elevator stopped at the first floor, Alivia walked out, supporting Janice. Roy immediately rushed to them and hugged Janice.

He seemed to be nervous as he was gasping for breath and had sweaty palms. Janice could feel his raspy breaths on her face.

"It is such a relief to see that you're all right! Thank God..." Roy said with a smile. He had been so worried about her that when he finally saw her, he felt like a ray of light had shone upon him.

His heart, which had almost stopped because of his anxiety, slowly calmed down.

By then, Janice had stopped crying, but the moment she heard Roy's voice, tears started to fall down her cheeks again. Only after Alivia continued to pat her on the back did she calm down.

With a faint smile on her lips, Janice gently pushed Roy away and asked, "Why are you here, Roy?" No one else knew about the kidnapping incident except for her, Alivia, and Malcolm.

Roy was supposed to be in his house, dealing with business matters. He should not have come here.

Upon hearing her question, Roy could not give her an answer. In fact, he was furious, thinking about Malcolm, who had not answered her call. He took a deep breath and replied, "I received a girl's..." But before he could finish his words, a familiar man appeared before them, and Janice immediately ran to him.

Roy turned around, only to hear Janice's cheerful voice.

"Are you here to save me, Malc?"

A sudden wave of sadness crashed through Roy's heart.

Malcolm was about to say something to Janice, who was looking at him expectantly, when he spotted Roy standing just a few steps away from them. Roy's forehead was still beaded with sweat and he was panting, making it obvious that he had come there in a hurry.

'Did she only call me after she called Roy?'

The moment he thought of that, everything that he was about to tell her vanished from his mind. His expression turned ice cold and his words were even more hurtful than his gaze as he said, "I am just going to a party." He then lowered his head, looking into Janice's eyes. Every word that he said to her after that, tore her apart piece by piece. "Janice, even your lies are getting pathetic."

Malcolm's words stung her like a sharp pin.

He cast a fierce glance at her before he started walking towards the elevator, accompanied by his assistant, Caleb. Just when he was about to cross paths with Roy, Malcolm stopped for a moment.

"Looks like you have a thing for my wife. I can let you have her, if she asks for my permission first." Malcolm's voice was so full of contempt that his words infuriated both Roy and Alivia.

Janice heard him and immediately turned around with a bright smile.

"I won't ever leave you, Malc! Regardless of what happens, I will never leave you." Upon hearing that, Malcolm's expression froze. All the words that he wanted to say got stuck in his throat.

With an indifferent scoff, he walked to the elevator. Roy, Alivia and Janice were left both physically and mentally exhausted.

As soon as Malcolm disappeared, Janice returned to her weaker self. She seemed to be about to faint, so Alivia caught her just in time.

"I wasn't expecting him to be so heartless, Jannie!" Alivia said. Not only had Malcolm ignored his wife in the time of her need, but he had also said those terrible things to her. Thinking of that, Alivia realized that he was worse than Leonel.

Shaking her head, Janice smiled at her and said, "That's fine, I know that he will never abandon me. After all these years, I know Malcolm better than anyone else."

"If you know him that well, then you'd also know that he is not going to like you after what happened. Don't embarrass yourself, Jannie. You're too good for a man like him. Don't waste your time on people who are not worth it," Alivia retorted.

Janice wanted to snap at her, but then, she noticed the tears in Alivia's eyes and couldn't help but smile at her.

"Why are you crying if I am not crying? Why don't we stop talking about depressing things?" With that, Janice turned to look at Roy with a bright smile. "Roy, can you take us to the bar? With you around, Alivia and I will feel much safer."

Roy wanted to refuse, as he wanted to take her for a long drive to relax. However, he had never learned to say no to Janice, so he had no choice but to agree.

"All right, let's go." Roy walked with her as they exited the building.

Janice wiped away Alivia's tears as she guided Roy to the Night Bar.

A few minutes after they all left, the elevator door opened again. The two men who had tried to kidnap Janice were lying on the floor, almost losing their lives...

Meanwhile, after getting drunk at the bar, Alivia and Janice were unable to drive. Seeing that, Roy kindly offered to drop them home. He dropped Alivia at her house, and then took Janice to her villa.

As soon as they arrived at the villa, Roy suddenly felt like he could not let go of Janice.

Janice was deep asleep in her seat. Her soft pink lips were slightly parted and her breaths were rhythmic, making her seem like an angel. She looked like the opposite version of herself when she was asleep.

"I hope you will always be by my side, so that I can protect you whenever Malcolm wants to hurt you," Roy whispered to her. Upon hearing Malcolm's name, Janice moaned and turned in her sleep, as though she was right next to him.

"Malc.. I love you. Jannie loves you, Malc," she moaned in her sleep, as though she was talking to her lover, which left Roy stunned.

Why did she love him?

For the past two years, Roy had seen Malcolm hurt her every day. And yet, Janice seemed to love him with all her heart.

Roy could not understand the reason and it caused his eyes to turn red with anger. He could not control himself anymore. Roy lost all sense of reasoning as he leaned closer to her.

His lips were merely a few centimeters apart from hers and he could feel her warm breath on his skin.

They had been friends for years, but he had never been as close to her as he was at that moment.

Janice was stunningly beautiful. She had pale skin, rosy cheeks, a sharp straight nose, and long thick eyelashes. She was so good-looking that any woman would be jealous of her.

Although she looked perfect, she had fallen for a man who never appreciated her.

"Jannie, won't you look at me?" As Roy said those words, he leaned closer to her, his lips almost touching hers.

However, there was a sudden knock on the car window.

Roy became alert and rolled down the window.

But he forgot to look out the window to see who it was.

The man outside the car was Malcolm.

Malcolm seemed furious, clenching his fists as he glared at Roy, as though he would hit him any second.

"Can't you at least wait till she is awake? She is someone that I don't want. Why do you care so much about her?"

Then, Malcolm left, walking away with Janice in his arms. Roy was so enraged that he wanted to run up to him and beat him up. However, he knew that he could not even lay a finger on him.

Besides, the villa was Janice's most favorite place. Hurting Malcolm there would only disappoint Janice. Thinking of that, Roy decided that it was best for him to restrain himself.
