Chapter 10 Where Was Janice

The cocktails were served on the table and the three of them looked forward to drinking as much as they wanted. With Alivia and Roy, Janice felt much more open and free. She screamed out her grievances without holding back. Alivia listened to her woes and cursed at Malcolm from time to time while Roy paid attention to every word that came out of her mouth.

Roy swore to himself that he would one day make Malcolm pay for everything that Janice suffered.

After several hours of drinking and talking, Janice and Alivia were drunk. It was at this point when Roy took their glasses from their hands.

Having helped the women clean up a bit, Roy intended to carry Alivia upstairs first. His room was empty after all. Alivia and Janice were the only people who had lived in there all this time.

But as soon as he touched Alivia, she called out,

"Jannie, I want to go to the toilet." As she spoke in a daze, she reached out a hand to Janice and was about to pull her up.

But Roy hurriedly stopped her. "Alivia, there's a toilet here. You don't need to go out."

Janice and Alivia seemed to be more intoxicated than he initially thought, and they both looked extremely charming. If they went out and ran into bad men, they might be taken advantage of.

Alivia glared at Roy. "The toilet outside is cleaner. Get... Get out of my way! I'm going to pee my pants."

Hearing Alivia's straightforward words, Roy felt helpless as his temples throbbed in pain.

"Then let me take you there. Follow me closely." Roy didn't know how Alivia could say that the toilet outside was cleaner, but he didn't think to ask more about it. It was useless to reason with a drunk person.

So half a minute later, Roy walked out of the private room, assisting both Alivia and Janice. One step out into the public area and the loud music troubled his ears. He briefly contemplated asking the DJ to turn the volume down. The music was just too noisy.

But he focused instead on helping Alivia and Janice to the toilet, despite the watchful eyes of several men.

Unmindful of the crowd's strange gazes, Roy bent over and whispered to Alivia, "Be cautious. Remember to take care of yourself and Jannie. I'll wait for you here."

He wasn't sure whether or not Alivia understood what he said, but after a couple of seconds, the latter went into the toilet with Janice. Despite being in a daze, it seemed as if Alivia could still operate by instinct.

The two went into the toilet and entered separate cubicles. As soon as she'd managed to relieve herself, Alivia felt more recovered. She talked as she stared at the floor,

"Jannie, what would Leonel say if I called him and told him we were kidnapped?" Hearing no response from her friend, she knocked on the partition to snap Janice back to her senses.

"What would Leonel say? Well, he probably would say the same things as Malc. He might think you're a liar and are merely making trouble for nothing." Tears welled up in her eyes at the mention of these words. Janice then raised her head and tried her best to keep her tears from falling.

Not knowing what was going on at the other cubicle, Alivia continued to talk, "You're right. Leonel's a bastard like Malcolm. Why did I even think he'd be special to me?"

As she spoke, Alivia felt herself going blank again. She wanted to ask Janice more questions but she suddenly felt too weak to open her mouth.

She lost her train of thought for two minutes. When she snapped back to her senses, cold sweat began to break out on her forehead.

"Jannie, I feel so weak, I'm sweating bullets here. How about we hit the gym for some training starting tomorrow?" She then knocked on the partition again as she waited for Janice's response. But after more than ten seconds, no sound came from the other side.

Confused, Alivia asked,

"Jannie? Did you drink too much? This is the toilet. You don't want to sleep in here." Alivia put on her pants as she spoke before walking out.

She then went in front of the cubicle where Janice should be and knocked hard on the door.

"Jannie, If you don't come out, I'll go in there. Come on! Let's go to Roy's room. We can sleep there." She then pulled the door casually and was surprised to find that it was not closed at all. Moreover, what she saw inside instantly brought her to sobriety.

"Jannie?"

Janice was nowhere to be found.

'I was talking to her just a few minutes ago. Where could she be?' Alivia wondered.

At this point, Roy rushed in after hearing the commotion in the toilet. Seeing the shocked expression on Alivia's face, he could instantly tell that something bad had happened.

"Alivia, where's Jannie?"

"I... I don't know." The woman was obviously flustered. "She was here just now..."

She looked around and asked anxiously, "Jannie? Where are you?"

Frowning, Roy stopped Alivia, who had been scrambling like an ant. "Calm down, please," he said.

The room was very narrow and anyone could see that it was empty except for the two of them. Janice was gone.

A few minutes later, some people outside began to comment on what was happening inside the toilet. Embarrassed, Roy escorted Alivia out, before reaching for his phone to call Janice.

But Janice's phone rang from within the bag he was carrying. He could only hang up the phone, feeling utterly defeated.

"What should we do?" Alivia was so frightened that she completely sobered up. Janice had actually disappeared when they were together!

"Don't panic. Let's think." Roy looked at Alivia and asked, "Did she tell you where she's going?"

Confused, Alivia was stunned for two seconds before she finally shook her head.

"Let's look for her then," Roy declared.

But Roy and Alivia had almost flipped the bar upside down and yet they still couldn't find Janice. Roy had to go to the manager of the bar to check the surveillance video.

But the manager didn't want to show them the video, saying something about the privacy of the other guests. Roy had to deal with the manager again after searching almost every private room in the club. He was worried that Janice might have been too drunk that she stumbled into the wrong place.

But night had fallen and they still hadn't seen her.

After checking the last private room, Roy was already in a foul mood.

"Alivia, think it over. What's going on here?" Roy asked.

Alivia tried her best to recall her last conversation with Janice. She then said, "Could it be... Maybe Jannie had felt too drunk and went home to Malcolm?"

Hearing her words, Roy stiffened.

"Really?" he murmured in a bitter voice.

Alivia anxiously shook her head. "I don't know. But what if... What if we call him and ask him?"

Roy refused instantly.

"No! That bastard hurt Jannie. She... She wouldn't go there. Besides, she'd tell us if she went home."

Alivia could only shake her head.

She couldn't help but feel that she had forgotten something from their conversation. But what was it?

In the villa, Malcolm was sitting on the sofa with a gloomy face. The carpet some distance away was a complete mess because of his own doing.

He turned his head to look out of the window. It was completely dark outside. He then looked at the door. Anger was written all over his face and his body emitted a strong aura. He was so close to blowing up.

'It's late. Does Janice plan to stay outside? Is she still with Roy?'

At the thought of this, Malcolm felt furious. He wished he could rush out right then and pull Janice back to the house and lock her up. He would never let her see anyone else ever again.

He promised himself that he would not let her go once she got back!
