Chapter 4 I'm Hurt

Since the servants were cleaning up everything on the bed, Lea got out of it quickly. She couldn't help thinking inwardly, 'He really wants to change everything just because I slept in his bed for a while? He's ridiculous!'

Lea tidied up her pajamas and rushed out of the room without even wearing her slippers. Fortunately, the whole floor was carpeted, so it was comfortable although she walked barefoot.

She looked around, hoping to find Barry. When she caught sight of him slowly walking down the stairs, she strode to catch up with him.

Standing in front of Barry now, she said sternly, "Are you really a neat freak? Why do you have to change everything on your bed? Don't you know that our country is now promoting environmental awareness? You are wasting resources. And I'm hurt!"

Barry looked at Lea without saying a word. But for her, his cold eyes were like saying, "It's none of your business.

And I don't care whether you're hurt or not."

Barry went past her and continued walking. Actually, he was still angry with what happened just now.

Lea watched his receding back with a frown. She thought to herself, 'Is there really such a man like him in this world? Why doesn't he talk at all? Even if I am not the most beautiful woman, I am still a beauty.

Why is he so cold and indifferent to me?'

When Lea was studying abroad, she was used to getting special treatment from men. Those who tried to pursue her did everything to please her.

But now, she didn't expect to meet someone like Barry. However, she badly needed him since she wanted to get hired in Sky Construction. With this reality, she had no choice but to swallow her anger and be nice to him.

So, Lea forced herself to smile gracefully and followed Barry. She then said to him, "You are Barry, right? Mike told me that you will teach and train me. Let's just forget what happened just now. You are not a petty person, are you?"

The truth was, Lea wanted to say that if Barry made a big deal out of what happened just now, he was indeed a petty person.

Barry finally stopped walking.

Lea raised her chin slightly to meet his eyes. She was not a timid person, and no one dared to be rude to her since she was a child.

Looking at Barry now, Lea got the opportunity to study his face. She then realized that he was undeniably gorgeous.

"Didn't anyone tell you that I'm disgusted with noisy people?" Barry said coldly before he went to the bar. His apartment was indeed luxurious. It even had its own bar.

Lea was stunned and didn't even bat an eyelid for a while. She couldn't believe what he just said. Was she really that noisy?

With a dissatisfied look on her face, she quickened her pace and followed him to the bar.

The bar counter looked so elegant. Next to it was a shelf that contained various kinds of wines of different ages. This part of the house filled with the fragrance of wine.

It was so intoxicating.

Barry held a goblet in his hand and motioned the servant to pour some wine to it. When his slender fingers circled around the goblet, it seemed to inadvertently add a little dignity to that ordinary thing.

This man really had a natural charm in him.

He looked so mysterious. His dark eyes were filled with sadness and indifference, which made people scared of approaching him.

With his expressionless face, no one could tell what he felt or what he was thinking.

Just like now, he was sitting on the chair like an inviolable god.

Lea suddenly stopped. Feeling the intense coldness that surrounded Barry like an iceberg that had not melted for a thousand years, she hesitated to get close to him.

It took a while for her to pluck up all her courage. She then tightened her pajamas, clenched her fists, and walked towards him. Without even asking for his permission, she sat on a chair next to him and said to the servant, "One glass of red wine, please."

But to her surprise, the servant just turned a deaf ear to her. As if she didn't exist, he just lowered his head and continued wiping the goblets on the tray.

Lea was stunned. She couldn't help wondering what kind of house she had entered.

Not only Barry but also his servants were all cold and indifferent.

She suddenly remembered the saying, "Birds of the same feather flock together." Now she had proven it was really true.

Lea gave Barry a side glance as she gradually felt awkward. He just took a sip of his wine, completely ignoring her. It was as if she wasn't there at all.

She cleared her throat and said, "I know that we will have a teacher-student relationship. But let me just remind you that I am not inferior to you. Even if you know better than me, we are just equal. So, would you care to tell your servant to give me a drink?"

Barry didn't respond. He just leisurely played with the goblet in his hand.

This time, Lea felt something wrong. She thought that they could never really get along well in the future. She couldn't help feeling worried for herself.

Lea suddenly felt a chill on her feet. When she looked at Barry, she found that he was staring at her feet with dissatisfaction and disgust.

She felt a little embarrassed. She immediately took back her feet, but she didn't know where to hide them. Barry was still staring at her feet.

She thought to herself, 'Is this man a freak? Why is he staring at my feet like that?'

Smiling awkwardly, Lea asked, "Do you have some eccentricities?"

She heard that most successful men who seemed unreachable had some strange hobbies that no one could imagine.

"Next time, don't walk barefoot on the carpet. Do you want me to change all the carpets in my house?" Again, Lea felt that Barry was showing his germaphobia incisively and vividly.

Barry stood up and turned to go back upstairs.

Lea's chest heaved up and down with anger. She murmured, "Does he really need to be that clean? His words are so poisonous. Doesn't he know how to treat a woman?"

As Barry disappeared from her sight, Lea stood up. She went to the foot of the stairs and roared, "If it weren't for the fact that you are a senior in architecture, do you think you could still have the strength to climb up the stairs. I could have already kicked your legs. Barry, I am telling you, I'm not the kind of person who accepts insult and humiliation. Just so you know, I am so mad at you right now!"

She angrily turned around and looked at the servant who was still wiping the goblets. He looked calm as if he didn't hear anything.

Lea held her head and complained, "My life is full of pain."

The next day

Mike came to Barry's house with so many gifts in his hands. Lea rolled her eyes at her brother. For her, it wasn't worth it to please an iceberg man.

Barry sat on the sofa emotionlessly. He still had his usual noble and cold aura.

"Barry, you promised me that you would give Lea a chance. Our family is engaged in the entertainment industry. But she likes architecture, so I have to trouble you now," Mike said in a polite tone.

Barry glanced at the gifts on the table and said, "I haven't said that I like these things that you brought, have I?"

"Well, I don't know what you really like, so I just bought some things casually. I hope you like them." Barry had never shared his preferences with anyone else, so it was really impossible for Mike to know what he liked.

Mike winked at Lea, who was just sitting there quietly, indicating her to apologize to Barry immediately.

Although Lea felt disgusted with the idea, her future was in Barry's hands. So, she forced herself to smile, looked at him, and said, "Barry, I know that I had offended you a lot last night. Please forgive my inappropriate behavior."
