Chapter 3 Why Do You Have A Child Outside Of Wedlock

Matthew stomped back into his mansion.

In the living room, all of his family members gathered together, waiting for him.

As soon as Edward Lu saw his grandson come in, he stood up and walked towards him, holding his walking stick. "You're finally back!" he exclaimed. "Where have you been?"

"Grandpa, I was having dinner with a client. Do I really have to report all my meetings to you?" In the Lu Family, Edward Lu was the only one close to Matthew.

His memory had been becoming worse through the years. Hearing his grandson's answer, he thought it was quite reasonable.

However, Matthew had just sat down when his grandfather suddenly recalled a minor detail. He clapped his hands together. "Bastard, why are you sitting down? Where's my granddaughter-in-law? Didn't you have dinner together? Where is she?"

Matthew's mother, Anna, sent him a hint using her eyes. On the table, there were tons of pictures of him having dinner with Faye as well as sending her away.

Matthew narrowed his eyes, staring at them. A part of him suspected that Faye was the one who had done it,

but he quickly gave up on that idea. She didn't have the guts to pull off such a stunt.

After comforting his grandfather, Matthew eventually returned to his bedroom and opened Faye's blog. In her latest video blog, she had finally announced her retirement. "I found out that I'm not suitable for the entertainment business. Tomorrow will be my last live stream. Plus, I'll be releasing bonuses to my fans. Do stay tuned."

He later received a reward of 10,000 dollars. She addressed him as "Mr. Sooner" and sent an apology.

Early in the morning, she was woken up by a call from her company.

Her phone was bombarded with thousands of missed calls, but she didn't care who was calling.

Tom had a fever the whole night, so she didn't have any time to deal with her business. Faye sent her fans a message that she was changing the live stream time to the evening before disappearing.

She quickly took Tom and his babysitter Lucy to the Municipal People's Hospital for a check-up.

Sweat trailed down her neck as she waited for the results. At this time, she wasn't able to afford his treatments.

The doctor only repeatedly suggested that she let Tom be hospitalized. If he didn't receive proper treatment, his physical condition might get worse.

Faye hesitated. Although the money in her account was enough for a stem cell transplant surgery, she wouldn't be able to afford any of the follow-up treatments.

Now that she had offended Matthew because of that stupid Richard, it would become more difficult for her to take a step forward with this treatment.

When Faye turned on her phone in the afternoon, Matthew was the first one to call her.

She answered, but before she could say anything, he asked her coldly, "Where are you?"

"In the hospital. Why? Is there something wrong?"

"Give me the address. I'll go to you," he ordered.

A bad feeling rose in her heart. After hanging up the phone, she opened her website and saw that her blog was already running wild.

There were rumors that she was actually Matthew's girlfriend, and her prime goal was to snatch the richest men from outstanding families.

Her hands shook with fear. Instead of getting famous, she would only offend Matthew because of those rumors.

Without another word, she grabbed Tom's arm and hurried out of the hospital.

On the way back home, she felt as if someone was following her. Although the driver managed to get rid of them, she was still terrified. Once they had returned, Faye hurriedly packed up her clothes along with Tom's and planned to run away.

However, as soon as she opened her door, Matthew was standing right in front of her.

His face was cold and grim as he stood elegantly in front of her. Staring at the luggage she was holding, he frowned. "Where are you going?"

"Oh. This is the child of my TMC partner. I'll be taking him home now." With a smile, she brought Tom to Lucy and asked them to go ahead first.

He sneered, not buying it in an instant. Matthew walked towards Tom and was about to reach out to hold him.

"Mommy," Tom cried out, bursting into tears. He was scared of Matthew.

Matthew turned to Faye, blocking her at the doorway. He pressed his hand against the wall and leaned to her face. "Didn't you say that he is the child of your TMC partner?"

he asked.

She didn't dare meet his eyes.

Matthew had aimed to trick Faye for what she had done to Richard, but he didn't expect that he'd be tricked by the very same woman. Now, his family was a mess. Edward Lu was so excited that he fainted and was sent to the hospital.

On the other hand, Faye's popularity had already increased. From all the money she made, she was about to run away.

"Who gave you the guts to trick me?" he demanded.

"Please. I wouldn't dare. I don't know what you're talking about!" Faye forced herself to look into his eyes. Her heart was already pounding fiercely. She didn't know if it was because of her fear or of their intimacy.

Matthew licked the scar she had caused on his lips.

She looked away awkwardly only to see that her little boy was running towards her. He pulled at Matthew's trousers. "Bad guy! You bully my Mommy!" he accused.

Matthew then squatted down.

Her eyes widened. "Don't touch my son!"

Without another word, Matthew reached out to pinch his round face. The child was good-looking, but he didn't look very healthy. In fact, he was even paler than the moon.

"Miss Qiao, you're 23-year-old and unmarried. How do you have a son?"

Her heart skipped a beat.

She rushed towards Tom. "That's my business, not yours."

"Why is that? Rumor says you're my girlfriend," Matthew teased.

Faye bowed her head. "Mr. Lu, I really have nothing to do with that. You can investigate it if you want to, but please let us go. We can leave the city and never return."

Her heart ached at the thought of leaving the city that she grew up in, but it seemed that she had no other choice.

Matthew stood up and glanced at Faye's apartment. Although it wasn't big, it was incredibly cozy.

He thought for a while and shook his head. "No."

'Shit. I'm dead,' she thought.

Faye didn't know how to explain Tom's identity. If she left North Jin City, his treatment would be delayed, and it was also very likely that she'd be taken back to the Qiao family.

However, Matthew uttered the unexpected words. "I'll be taking you and your son home with me."
