Chapter 5 Go To The Hospital

The whole office hours, Kate was preoccupied, thinking about how she would get off work. Brian said he would come to pick her up after work.

Totally confused, Kate scratched her head out of irritation. The agreement clearly stated that they couldn't bother each other casually. If Brian would really dare to do anything to her, she could sue him with that agreement.

However, that also meant losing her job. Losing her current job was the last thing she wanted to happen. Moreover, no one could honestly tell who would win such case when a small citizen fought against a CEO.

'Alas, forget it. Just play it by ear,' Kate told herself.

Deep inside, she was struggling. She was so annoyed that she wanted to bump her head against the desk. However, in Lora's eyes, these were the omen of mental disease. Lora became a little terrified of her that she even avoided Kate the whole day.

Finally, it was time to get off work. Lora wanted to take Kate to see a doctor, but was taken away by her friends.

With understanding, Kate just nodded. She assumed that maybe Lora would have a blind date that night. In this era, blind dates were one of the social trends.

Most of the people she knew, like Lora, always stayed at home and were lazy to keep a relationship. If a woman would meet a good man in a blind date, she might marry him casually.

Trying to slow down and buy more time, Kate took a deep breath. But at the same time, she was afraid to make her boss wait for her. In the endless entanglement, she still arrived at the company's door.

A limited edition Bugatti Veyron was parked in front of the building, and Kate recognized it at once. Reluctantly, she looked inside the rolled down window. Definitely, it was Brian.

It seemed that Brian knew she was looking at him. He turned and looked at her, motioning her to get in the car.

Still reluctant, Kate opened the door and got in the car. She put on a dazzling, soft smile and asked, "Mr. Li, where are we going?"

'Restaurant? Villa? Or a hotel?' Kate wondered what he would answer.

Unfortunately, Brian didn't respond. Then, Kate asked again, "It's so late. How about we have dinner first? We need food to get some energy."

In fact, she just wanted to grab something to eat to delay the time.

Though she had read a lot of romantic novels, it still scared her when she encountered it in real life!

Brian was still silent.

Immediately, Kate stopped talking, realizing that she was making a fool out of herself.

She gasped in admiration again. This man was really handsome. His perfect outline was like the most aesthetic masterpiece of God. His wheat-colored skin was healthy, with a hint of exoticness. 'Is the CEO biracial?'

It reminded Kate of what Lora had said to her all day. She thought that Lora was only exaggerating at that time. But after seeing Brian in person, she realized that all Lora's words were completely true. Every good adjective was suitable to describe the CEO. Her dignified, gorgeous, outstanding, and majestic boss.

Kate was lost in various fancies and conjectures when the car stopped steadily. She rolled down the window and was stunned.

This place was neither a hotel nor a villa. But a hospital.

He brought her to the hospital. Could it be possible that he knew what Lora said? Did he take her to the hospital for a treatment?

"Boss, honestly, I'm not that seriously ill. I just need to have a good rest. You don't have to take me to the hospital," said Kate. She didn't get off the car.

What a joke! The hospital was the worst place where people would get a lot of serious diseases, even if you weren't ill. And even a cold might be treated as advanced cancer.

Brian looked at her coldly, without saying a word. Right away, he opened the door and went out of the car.

Kate faltered and thought that if she got out of the car, she might be diagnosed as an idiot. However, if she didn't get out of it, her boss would be angry. Then, it would cause her termination, and her mother would scold her for being dumb. Had been thinking for a while, Kate concluded that since both of them would think her as idiot, the first choice would be better.

Decided, she clenched her jaw and was about to open the door. But when she reached for it, Brian already opened it for her. Screaming in a low voice, she was dragged out by Brian.

Yes, he had pulled her out by her collar and taken her out of the car.

Kate was startled and forgot she wore 5-centimeter high heels. She sprained her ankle and stretched out her hand to grasp the tie of Brian's suit.

This could be regarded as a way of getting back at him, but that wasn't Kate's original intention. Still staggering, she stood still while holding on the neat collar of the CEO.

"Oh, I lost my balance," murmured Kate. When she came to her senses, she quickly released her hand. That time, she felt a stabbing pain from her ankle.

Was she out of luck? She was running all the way yesterday and didn't hurt her ankles. But why did she sprain her ankle today?

In order to keep her graceful posture, Kate gritted her teeth, endured the pain and propped up her body with the other foot. Forcing a smile, she said, "Let's go."

They arrived at the hospital just in time.

Brian only glanced at her ankle, and didn't lead the way.

Kate didn't walk first either. She had an injury on her ankle, and she didn't want Brian to see her limping. But when she stood with him, she was under a lot of pressure. "Boss, you can go ahead now. I'll follow you," stated Kate in a serious tone.

Without saying anything, Brian just looked at her with his deep dark eyes landing on her, which made Kate feel so embarrassed. After a while, Kate couldn't help but speak. Brian slowly bent his knees, with an elegant and gentle gesture. He said in a low voice, "Get up."

What was going on? Kate was confused and didn't get what he meant.

"Do you want me to hold and assist you?" said Brian again in a shallow voice as he was a little impatient.

As soon as he said this, he felt something heavy on his back.

"No, definitely not." Lying on Brian's back, Kate began to bargain. Although Brian's back was so warm and comfortable, she still didn't like to be too close to a man.

"Don't move." Brian stood up and ordered Kate on his back.

"But..." Kate faltered. She felt a little uncomfortable and wanted to slip down.

When she was about to slip down, her buttock hurt slightly. It seemed that someone had pinched it. Kate could not understand what was going on, and she was rigid. 'Did he pinch my ass?' she questioned herself.

After realizing this, Kate was immediately obedient. She froze and stayed motionless on Brian's back. The pace of Brian was as steady as a moving towering tree, and Kate was like a vine attached to it.

'It doesn't feel bad at all,' Kate thought.

Sitting on the chair, Kate helplessly glanced at the old doctor who was wearing a pair of glasses with thick lenses.

She just had a sprain, but why did the doctor need to bandage her whole foot so tightly?

"Remember, keep away from water for the next few days, or your wounds will get inflamed," instructed the doctor in a domineering tone as he adjusted his glasses.

'I'm going to take a shower tonight. Whatever,' Kate thought gloomily. It was just a sprained ankle. If Brian hadn't insisted on taking her to the doctor, she wouldn't have cared about the wound at all. She had suffered more serious injuries before, and she didn't bother to go to the hospital like this. She was not so effeminate.

Brian looked down at her and warned unhappily, "Listen to the doctor."

Kate was so shocked that she almost fell down from the chair. She didn't utter what was on her mind. But why did this man know what she was thinking?

"Well, people nowadays feel that they're all strong. If such a small wound was not treated properly, you would suffer the repercussion in the long-term," the doctor sighed and pounded his back.

Kate lowered her head in silence. The doctor looked at Brian and continued, "As her boyfriend, you'd better take good care of her. How could she fall over while walking on a road? She's an adult!"

When she heard the word "boyfriend", Kate was stunned. She observed Brian from the corner of her eye. Then, Brian said indifferently, "I'm not her boyfriend."

That was the way it should be. They were purely just boss and subordinate. Kate nodded her head with satisfaction. She didn't want to admit their relationship casually.

"I'm her husband." Brian corrected him lightly.

He was neither embarrassed nor uncomfortable at all, and his tone was natural and smooth, as if she was really his wife.

Kate trembled with fear. She really panicked that she almost put her foot down which was wrapped up carefully with bandage. She looked at Brian blankly. Her mouth slightly open in awe, she wanted to ask something but didn't know what to ask.

It was explicitly pointed out in the agreement that they were a couple in front of outsiders, which meant Brian didn't overstep the boundary. However, Kate still felt weird about it. She lowered her head and gently patted her chest to calm herself down.

"Let's go." Brian pulled Kate up with one hand and held her slender waist with the other. Too shy to look up at him, Kate let him control her walk. It was absolutely a sweet and pleasant scene in the eyes of the outsiders.

The man was calm and handsome, and the woman was beautiful and demure.

Even the old doctor looked at them and sighed, "Such a loving couple is rarely seen nowadays."

While limping, Kate tried to hold back her laughter. 'Old doctor, when did you see us in love?'

The moment they went out of the door, they immediately aroused the envy of many people.

"Mr. Li, shall we go back now?" asked Kate politely. One of her feet was tightly wrapped, so now she could only be supported by Brian's arm. She was jumping up and down like a lively and lovely rabbit.

Amusingly, she happened to wear a white shirt and trousers today, making her look more like a rabbit.

Since Brian didn't answer her, Kate didn't dare to say anything anymore. From yesterday till today, she had found that the CEO was very quiet and always ignored others. After getting along with him for such a long time, she spoke a hundred times more words than he did.

With the help of Brian, she entered a ward. Kate was completely clueless and confused. Yes, she just hurt her ankle, but the doctor didn't ask her to stay in the hospital.
