Chapter 1 AN OMEGA'S CURSE

CHAPTER ONE.

AN OMEGA’s CURSE.

Raine’s point of view.

The sound of my sobs echoed in my room, piercing the somber silence.

I sat curled up on my bed, my hands clenching tightly to the bedsheets as I walked in grief.

“My mate...” I whispered, with hot tears running down my cheeks.

My sister, Freya, rushed into the room, her eyes brimming with tears. “Raine, please,” she begged, wrapping her arms around my shaking form.

“Please do not cry. I am here for you.”

But I could not hear my sister’s words. All I could feel was the emptiness of my mate’s absence, the ache of his loss digging deeper and deeper into my soul.

“He is gone,” I sobbed, my voice raw with anguish. “He is gone and I am all alone.”

Our mother who had been watching from the doorway, finally stepped into the room.

“Stop your blubbering,” she snapped, her voice as sharp as broken glass. “You are bringing shame to this family with you pathetic display.”

I winced at my mother’s harsh words, but my tears continued to flow like a river down my cheeks, a river whose source was my pain.

Freya shot my mother a glare.

“How can you say that, Mother?” Freya demanded, her voice trembling with anger. “Sister Raine is grieving.”

But our mother only scoffed, her lips curling up into a sneer. “Grieving? For what? A weak omega like her should be grateful she had a mate at all, good riddance I say.”

My heart wrenched at my mother’s mean words and I felt the weight of my grief bearing down on my shoulders.

My mate, my soulmate, my life partner, my other half, was gone and I was left alone.

“Please mother,” I whispered, my voice small and broken. “He was my everything. He is the only mate I had that loved me for who I was. And now...now he is gone. Do you not understand! Do you not feel my pain?”

But my mother’s expression remained cold, a remainder that my pain meant absolutely nothing to her.

I buried my face in my hands, tears soaking my cheeks as I fought to control my sobs.

My mind reeled, spinning with emotions, mostly sadness, despair, anger and a bitter resentment that threatened to consume me.

“I hate you,” I hissed, the words spitting out like a venom. “You are supposed to be my mother, but you do not even care. You just want me to die, you just want to see that I am no longer breathing, don’t you?”

My mother’s face contorted unto a mask of fury and she stalked towards me with a feral snarl.

“How dare you speak to me like that?” My mother spat, her voice harsh and cutting. “You are nothing but a disappointment, a burden on this family. And now with your mate dead, you are of no use to anyone.”

I cringed, feeling the weight of my mother’s hate on me. “Do not give up, she has no right to wish you bad.” The voice in my head said.

“If you think I am useless,” I said, my voice shaking with a new found strength, “then you can just kick me out of the house.”

My words hung in the air like a challenge and my mother’s eyes narrowed into slits. “Do not tempt me you cursed child. I would be more than happy to see the end of you.”

My heart hammered in my chest but I stood my ground, unwilling to back down. “I am done with this,” I said, my voice steady and resolute. “I am leaving, with or without you blessing.”

My mother scoffed , a twisted smile on her lips.

“Goodbye.” I said and stood up to leave.

My mother’s expression darkened, her fingers tightening around my arm like a vice. “Oh no, you don’t,” she hissed, her lips pulled back in a snarl.

“You are not going anywhere. You are my daughter and I will not let you run off and bring more shame to this family.”

I struggled but my mother’s grip was like iron, unyielding and unforgiving. “Please let go of me!” I screamed my voice hoarse with desperation. “I am not going to stay back here and listen to all the mean things you have to say to my face.”

My mother’s smile widened, a cruel glint in her eyes. “Oh, but you are going to stay my dear.” She purred. “And you are going to be married off, you will finally be free from my hand. But do not worry, you will be a perfect match for the alpha’s son, now that his own has met with a s...similar fate.”

My breath caught in my throat, my chest constricting with fear and rage. “No,” I whispered, shaking my head in disbelief. “You can not do this to me. Please, please mother do not do this.”

“Yes I can and I just did, you will get married to the alpha’s cursed son, and I will be given the respect that I deserve in this pack. Raine you will not ruin my one shot at fame.” My mother growled.

“I will never get married to him, all his mates mysteriously disappeared.

The ones who were found ...please mother do not do this. I will do anything you ask of me, please do not do this” I pleaded with my mother.

“Silence!” Mother roared. “Not another word out of you, you will go to your room and take a nice rest. Make sure you relax your mind and force yourself to accept that you will be married to the alpha’s son, and don’t you dare think of escaping. If you try anything funny, I will slit your sister’s throat.”

I gulped and my blood ran cold. “Keep sister out of this, please mother.

I will do anything but do not harm sister. I will marry the alpha’s son.”

“Very good, go to your room. This is your last night in this house cause you are getting married tomorrow.” Mother said and walked away.

“Tomorrow?”
