Chapter 5 Possessed

ZORA

Then I froze.

It was as if I was earlier possessed.

I felt dread crawl up my spine.

"No.... no... noo." I muttered repeatedly.

She's not dead, she can't just die.

I grabbed her hands in mine, shaking them vigorously.

"Hey!!" I half yelled, cautious not to draw attention to myself.

I slapped her hard across the face, "Wake up. Ma'am? Kindly wake up!! My life is hanging on a balance here."

She didn't move.

I placed my head on her chest to listen for her heartbeat, there was none.

I shook her body hard again,

"You have to wake up!!" I snapped at her, "You can't just die like that!!"

There was no response.

She really was dead, and no amount of shaking was going to bring her back.

I scrambled away from her body in fear, clasping my hands over my mouth to stop myself from screaming.

Ryker would never believe me. He would think I killed his mother.

My situation just got worse!!

If I was scared before, now I was terrified.

My thoughts ran in a frenzy. No matter how much I thought about it, it doesn't end well for me at all.

I glanced back at the dead woman in annoyance. Why did she have to wait for her son to be out of the room before she woke up, only to die?!

I ran a hand through my hair in frustration, panic building up my bones.

I have to think of something, or better yet, find a way to escape before anyone finds out she's dead.

What the heck did she even mean, 'heal my son, save my son.'

I am not some sort of demi god or savior of the world!!!

I couldn't even keep my wolf!

And why the heck did I promise her without a protest? It was almost like I was pulled in a trance when her frail hands gripped me.

I pulled at my hair in frustration. This is killing me.

Goddess!!! So many things were happening at once, and I don't know how to handle them or what to do.

I've never been so clueless in my entire life.

Either this pack already has a crazy leader who is delusional about me having some sort of power, or the moon goddess is already losing her touch.

Whichever one it is, I have no plans to stay and find out because I am not the one with the problem here, and there's nothing definitely wrong with me.

A loud, tired sigh escaped my lips as I sat on the floor instead, my back resting against the gold-plated bed, or maybe it was real gold, I don't care.

I just want to go home, hug my kids, and assure Lucas, I'm fine.

Gawd!! Lucas would be so worried and blame himself for this misfortune.

I glanced at the wound on my palm, it has stopped bleeding now, but the wound was still open.

I let out another sigh and drew my knees up, placing my head on it.

There's nothing for me to do, aside waiting for someone to come back to this room and maybe explain the situation to them.

Hopefully, it would be someone who understands and maybe explains the situation to Ryker with me getting off.

Honestly, my work here is done, not like I did inecro begin with.

His mother is dead, and he has no choice but to let me go, right?

Right?

As if on cue, his threat echoed in my head. If he meant everything he said, that would mean Courtney and the children's lives are a stake.

The door suddenly opened, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I jumped to my feet, expecting to see Ryker.

It was just the maid from before, Agatha.

She casted a glance at the corpse, then back at me, "Follow me."

I peeked at Ryker's mother from the corner of my eyes. Was it obvious that she's dead.

"Why?" I folded my arms defiantly. "You want to kill me now?"

"Hurry!! And stop acting like a brat, I don't need you disturbing the Luna's rest!!?" Agatha yelled in a harsh whisper and left without waiting.

"Hey!!" I yelled, "Wait up!"

I went after her quickly, breaking into a jog to keep up with her. She was too fast.

She stopped in front of a door, just down the corridor.

"Help yourself." She muttered and left.

I waited until she was out of sight before I opened the door, glad to finally be able to rest, but stopped short, my mouth opened in surprise.

The room was no different from a storage room.

It was small, the walls filled with stains and scratches.

The previous owner of this room must have been one crazy person left to suffer. I can't imagine the horror of what they must have passed through.

I walked in cautiously, scared that I might trigger anything since this pack and its leader was crazy. Started with thinking I have healing powers to hearing my thoughts, then whatever spell his mother pulled on me.

I can never be too cautious with this people, who knows what could happen next? Or what I would be accused of.

At least the bed looked neat.

I plopped myself down on the bed. I would kill to have a phone on me right now.

I'd barely closed my eyes when the bed gave way beneath me, wood splinters poked at my skin angrily.

My arms were bleeding.

I stood up and marched to the door, my body shaking with rage.

I tried the door, but it wouldn't budge.

I tried it again, it was the same.

It was locked.

These bastards locked me in.

The realization dawned on me like cold water splashed on my face.

I glanced back at the room.

There were no windows.

How did I miss that in the first place?

Cold sweat broke out on my forehead as I slid to the ground. My stomach clenched with anxiety, and my body was paralyzed with fear and dread.

I don't do well in small enclosed spaces.

They are my nightmares.
