Chapter 4

Dawn cleared out her inventory at the stall when she received an order from a hotel.

Normally, she didn't offer delivery services. But she accepted the order anyway, as it was the last day she sold fish, and the hotel was right next to the orchestra Blaine worked for. She thought it would be a good opportunity for her to say goodbye.

After Blaine was promoted to lead, he had suggested introducing her to some friends to help her learn to be a screenwriter. However, she wanted to wait a bit longer.

After all, Maya's illness needed a lot of money. Dawn wanted to earn money on her own instead of being a burden to Blaine.

Inside the five-star hotel, Erin was arm-in-arm with Blaine and chatting happily. She was dressed in a white fishtail dress, and he was sharply dressed in a suit.

They mingled effortlessly among a crowd of middle-aged people and handled business matters easily.

Meanwhile, Dawn stood awkwardly in the corner of the kitchen, holding a fish delivery cooler and wearing her rain boots and an apron.

She felt unsteady and dizzy.

A keen-eyed cleaner noticed her discomfort. She followed Dawn's gaze and sighed, "They are a perfect match. He is talented, and she is beautiful. But we can never achieve their lifestyle forever."

Dawn bit her lip, put down the fish, and was about to leave when she heard a familiar panting around the corner of the restroom.

Blaine was usually aloof and restrained, but he was pinned against the wall at that moment.

His ears were a bright red.

Erin's silk dress was torn, and her lips glistened with saliva.

Dawn didn't dare to think much or look at them too closely.

Blaine was reserved and controlled in bed with Dawn, but he was turned on like that by Erin.

Several others were discussing the perfect couple as well.

"A pianist and a doctor. They combine romance with practicality."

"The promising young pianist and the daughter of a prestigious medical family are indeed a perfect match," Blaine's mentor couldn't help but sigh.

"But I remember Blaine mentioning a cousin who sells fish and keeps pestering him. She dreamed of getting married to him and was truly clueless. That woman is so thick-skinned. How could a fish seller marry Blaine? She should take a good look at herself in the mirror."

Dawn's rain boots squeaked against the tiles, and she was shaking. Her breath was even tinged with pain, and she was eager to escape.

As she reached the revolving gate, she suddenly stopped. A familiar melody began to play and brought her memories back.

The entire lobby echoed with a song that Blaine was playing. He confessed his feelings for her in their sophomore year of high school.

Back then, he was in white, under the summer sycamore tree. He shone with a gentle light, and his fingers danced with affection.

But his face had matured now, and he played the confession song once more for another woman.

Dawn stood frozen and could barely breathe. Her chest felt tight.

A hotel attendant pushed a cart with ninety-nine roses towards Erin, who was smiling.

Erin gracefully accepted the gifts and leaned in to whisper in Blaine's ear like an empress, "Blaine, I want to experience the beauty of life with you."

Blaine, who usually disliked being touched, didn't flinch. His hand naturally rested on Erin's waist, and his smile was bashful. "Alright. I'll be there for you."

The staff covered their mouths in amazement.

"The love of the wealthy is truly impressive."

"It's like a scene from a romantic TV drama coming to life."

Dawn touched the rough scars on her hands, which were left from scaling fish. He felt a chill in her heart.

Perhaps her path diverged from Blaine's during that summer when they filled out college applications.

Blaine came home early, which was rare. But when Dawn entered, she saw him slumped on the sofa, and his suit was tossed aside in a mess.

She sighed deeply, put the suit into the sink, and washed it.

Blaine felt a bit guilty. He leaned over and buried his head in Dawn's neck. "Honey, I'm so tired today..."

Dawn felt resistant to his touch. She sighed and pushed him away. "Our wedding..."

Before she could finish, both their phones rang simultaneously.

Blaine glanced at his screen. It was Erin calling.

"Blaine, there's a patient causing trouble..." Erin's voice trembled in fear.

On Dawn's phone, a nurse said anxiously, Dawn, Maya was attacked..."
