Chapter 5 Separating from Luke

A sad smile overtook Gillian's face, her eyes moist, the corner of her mouth drawn down, and her chin trembled as she stared at the pale yet gorgeous beauty in the mirror.

Limpid, beautiful big black moist eyes that are clear and bright like a web of shiny stars on a starry night, straight jet black hair that falls to the waist, a cute button nose, soft and pliable seductive plump red lips that seem to call one for a kiss.

Overall, the girl in the mirror was a peerless, gorgeous beauty that could topple cities, ruin nations, and pull the heartstrings of any man. Except that the impeccable eyes currently held tears, causing anyone who saw the sight to have a tug in the deepest part of their heart.

Gillian clenched her fist tight. Her pain was bare in her teary eyes.

"So hilarious!" Gillian suddenly spat, the words clearly meant to taunt herself. A mocking smile surfaced on her face, and she leaned back against the counter, her shoulder trembling.

Gillian had planned her whole life and pictured herself as a powerful wife and mother before the next ten years, but what did it end as? Being a pawn and a substitute to be made use of by her family.

"Really hilarious!" She mocked herself once more for being so naive to be played by her jerk boyfriend, scheming sister, and disappointing family.

Suddenly, the doorknob was twisted from outside, snapping Gillian out of her thoughts.

Upon seeing Mr. Roger step into the room, Gillian blinked repeatedly to send the tears back to their sockets, and her face turned cold and collected.

Mr. Roger took a look at his watch and scowled impatiently. "Remember, stick to the arrangements and don't mess up, or else I can't assure the patient's life." Mr. Roger articulated, his voice sounding overwhelming like thunder in Gillian's ears.

Gillian stiffened, and her head shook in pity and mockery.

Gillian took a deep breath to calm herself, and she forced herself to nod her head twice. Her appearance was very stiff. "I understand. Let's go."

Without waiting for Mr. Roger to reply, she stepped out of the room in her white wedding dress, looking cold yet beautiful.

Holding the beautiful bouquet of anemone flowers, Gillian elegantly continued to make her way toward the expensive hall that was meant to hold the wedding.

Gillian's beauty was so otherworldly that it made the guests gasp and murmur in shock.

Oh, although this daughter of Arison's family is rumored to be useless, I didn't expect her to be this beautiful.

Mr. Roger Arison basically made people envious. Giving birth to such a beautiful set of daughters. Even if Gillian is useless to the core with such a beautiful face, she's basically a money machine.

Suddenly, Willa's twisted expression vanished, and it was replaced with calmness. Anyway, Gillian had fallen into a hole, and her life was completely turned upside down, unlike Willa, who's now the princess in everyone's hearts.

The commotion caused by Gillian's arrival also attracted the attention of Luke, who was sitting next to Willa.

Luke's eyes fell on Gillian's face, and his mind was completely blown away by the beautiful sight that he saw; his gaze couldn't help but linger on the face for a few seconds more.

She's really beautiful; it's just that she had such a devilish and wicked heart. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but take a few glances at her.

Somehow, a sense of loss gripped Luke's heart, and an envious feeling crept into his heart. She had never prepared this well for him.

Next to the feeling was a deep sense of regret. Throughout the time Luke had been with Gillian, the only thing they had ever done was hold hands or hug.

That bitch never let him kiss her or sleep with her. And that had been his greatest regret. Had he known, he would have pushed her more. She would have looked good under him. Moreover, he would have been able to tie her down as his secret mistress!

Upon noticing Luke's heated gaze that seemed to want to dig a hole into Gillian, Willa's clenched fist tightened, and her fingers dug into her palm.

Thinking like this, a sweet smile crossed Willa's face. Through the corner of her eyes, she saw Gillian approaching toward them, and a cruel glint flickered past her eyes.

Willa leaned forward and grabbed a hold of Luke's hand softly, jolting Luke awake from his reverie.

Immediately, Luke's face contorted in disdain. He can't believe that he was attracted to that good-for-nothing for a few seconds. She must have bewitched him!

Willa tucked her hair behind her ear and lowered her head pitifully, shimmering tears appearing in her eyes. "Sister looks so beautiful, doesn't she?" She asked softly and raised her head to stare at Gillian.

Gillian's fist clenched by her side. She understood what Willa was doing. Willa was trying to deal her a heavy blow at her wedding!

Luke's eyes flashed with disdain. Without bothering to look at Gillian, he scowled and mocked, "It's just trash. Compared to you, she's mud." Luke responded.

Immediately, he picked up Willa's hand and placed a kiss on it, causing a sweet smile to blossom on her face momentarily.

Gillian's face paled, her face draining of blood. Of course, she knew the two betrayed her, but getting to hear such a disdainful word appear from Luke's mouth still dealt a blow to her; after all, she had sincerely loved this person for years.

"Luke, I know you dislike sister, but calling sister a mud, I can't take it." Willa shook her head sadly and raised her head to stare at Luke, her eyes teary and her lips quivering in sadness.

Luke sighed and hugged Willa close to him, making her lay in his embrace. He stroked her hair gently and said, "Willa, you're so innocent and naive; that's the reason someone like Gillian has always taken advantage of you. Willa, you don't know, but I've been crushing on you for years. You can't understand how happy I am getting engaged to you, so don't mention that disgusting person anymore." He whispered, coupled with his handsome face. Willa repeatedly felt bewitched, and she felt her annoyance vanish.

Luke secretly sighed when he saw Willa appear to believe him. He had almost lost himself.

Luke angrily directed a glare at Gillian. She's such a seductive bitch! Just like her mother. He couldn't believe that he was almost bewitched by her.

Gillian felt Luke's glare, and her heart couldn't help but tighten with pain. Her legs seemed to be tied with lead, making her almost unable to take a step.

Willa's eyes crinkled with a cunning glint, which Gillian didn't fail to catch. She knew what Willa wanted to do, yet she couldn't help but let it get to her. After all, the love she held for Luke couldn't just disappear like that.

Gillian sighed, unable to believe that this was the same Luke who promised to celebrate her birthday every year and never make her sad. She couldn't believe that this was the same Luke who called Willa unworthy some days ago. Now, Willa is his heaven.

Hearing the repeated shutters of the camera, Gillian tried to appear as composed as she could. She swept a glance at the altar, the Albrecht family, and their guests allocated sides, and she found them empty.

Not only was she forced to marry against her will, but her husband and his family didn't even show up. Tears welled up in her eyes. Life must be ridiculing her, isn't it?

Feeling her legs begin to cramp due to standing at the altar for over an hour. Gillian's heart couldn't help feeling as if it were submerged in cold water.

Her husband-to-be didn't appear, nor did the Albrecht family show up. They must take this wedding as a joke, just like her family took her as a joke, isn't it?

Suddenly, Willa stood up with a wine glass in hand and a sweet smile on her face, walking toward Gillian.

Gillian's heart was constricted by anxiety. For Willa to act like this certainly meant nothing good would come out of it.

Gillian quickly looked away, unwilling to pay Willa's attention, but that didn't deter Willa a bit.

Instead, Willa stopped in front of Gillian and bit her lower lips in distress and grievance. "I know younger sister is still annoyed at me, but elder sister is really sorry." Willa cried out pitifully, her eyes reddened and her lips quivering.

"Had the younger sister let Willa know beforehand, Willa would've parted from Luke yesterday and let him get engaged to sister. Younger sister knows that elder sister would do everything to make the family happy, even if it included something heartbreaking like separating from Luke." Willa bit her lower lips, her body shivering.

"Whatever younger sister wants elder sister to do to get younger sister's forgiveness, I'll do it." Willa cried out softly; tears rolled down from her eyes, and her shoulder trembled, invoking everyone's compassion.
