"What a disgrace," my father said to me. I really thought that I could prove to him that I was capable of making him proud, but now shame befell upon me, as I was discarded by Conri.
I climbed the staircase to my bedroom. When I shut the door, I sat and rested my back against it and cried.
I found the strength to take a shower, and then I slept.
***
I woke up with a headache and nausea; I could not lift any of my limbs. I thought that maybe I had hurt myself from all the hard labor I had been enduring for a week.
I drove myself to the hospital, and the test result was different than I expected. I stared at it in joy and bewilderment.
My joy knew no bounds as I stared at the pregnancy result in my hand. It was positive; I was pregnant.
I could not wait to go home and share the good news with Conri. Maybe after I informed him that I was carrying his baby, he would come back to his senses, send Juliette away, and top it all by putting a ring on my finger. I would officially be a member of his pack.
I would be the most fulfilled person in the entire world. I could barely believe this.
I drove into the garage; I could smell Conri, and my wolf could barely hold herself back. I parked carelessly and ran to the living room. He was at my house. After I left, he must have come to his senses and come to look for me.
"Conri," I said in happiness as I jumped onto Conri's lap. He did not hug me back. His whole aura was cold and frightening.
I looked at his face and slowly stood up from his lap. I remembered how he had pushed me away a few days ago because I hugged him.
If he was not here to apologize to me, then why was he here?
"What's wrong?" I asked, looking around. My eyes fell on Juliette, who was staring at me with disgust and hate.
I looked down to see that she was holding hands with Conri; he was gripping her hand tightly. I saw their engagement ring still on their fingers.
"Darlene, sit. We have something to discuss," he said icily.
I felt my heart stop and then start again.
"Conri, remember that I'm your mate," I told him, trying to touch his shoulder, but his frown sent me away.
"Conri?..." I asked in disbelief. Is he really just going to push me away?
"You're not going to be my mate for long," he informed me.
"No, I need to wake up from this nightmare. It can't be... No!" I cried, my world crumbling before my very eyes.
I turned to my father.
"You're such a shame; I can't believe I produced such a useless daughter," he told me.
"What did I do wrong? Please tell me," I pleaded, going in front of Conri and falling to my knees.
This nightmare was starting to seem like a reality.
"Do it, Conri. End it and free yourself from this pathetic piece of trash," Juliette said.
"I, Alpha Conri McShawn..." he started saying. I never knew this day would come.
Tears slipped past my eyes as I touched my belly with my hands. The first thought I had was to end myself for good, but life was growing within me.
"I reject you, Darlene McGuire, as my mate."
"Accept his rejection!" Juliette ordered me urgently. I placed my hands together.
"Please, Conri, please, I'm begging you. Don't do this to me." My heart was eating itself up.
"Accept my rejection!" he yelled, pulling my hair.
I cried.
"I, Darlene McGuire, accept your rejection," I said, and he released me and pushed me to the ground.
My head hit the hardwood floor, and I felt my skin tear at the temple.
"Pick your bags and leave," my father demanded harshly.
"I had already packed it for you," my sister, who was a strong Luna, said with a laugh. "You're so worthless. Here I was thinking that maybe we would try to manage you. Leave and never show your face again." She warned with a glare.
"The rules are very easy to follow. If you return, it will be ruled out as trespassing, and any member of our pack has every right to kill you," my mother said. "Such a disgrace," she spat.
"She has ruined the image of this family. You've already been banished; now leave this territory!" my father screamed, walking toward me with his hands raised, ready to strike me.
I tripped on my luggage as I tried to run away from his hit and fell.
I heard laughter behind me. I got up on my knees and cleaned my tears with the back of my palm.
I picked up my luggage and threw one more glance at Conri. He looked disgusted by me, as if I had a fatal, contaminated disease.
"Don't try to join any other packs. They won't accept you; we've warned them about you."
I was made a rogue in the twinkle of an eye; my life was changed.
I walked to the car as slowly as I could, waiting for someone to call me back and tell me it's a prank. I was waiting in my car until I heard the warning howls of the Alphas. They could smell me, and since I was a terrorist, they would take much pleasure in clawing me apart.
I was weak and defenseless. I drove off, placing my hand on my belly.
"Hang on, little one; it's only me and you now," I whispered.
