Chapter 5 CHA

"Maggie Zacas. No, she has been great," Glenn Blackwood said to her boss. "I just felt so bad. She has worked so hard for me for so long, you know, I just wanted to get it right and know who this angel is. Thank you so much. Yes, goodnight. Thank you. Bye."

Glenn hung up the phone.

He was aware of Maggie's name and the other bit of information he was not aware of before, her company belonged to his dad's. All he had to do was log into the central files via his password, enter the name of hers in the human resource section, and ta-da, he got the address of his future girlfriend.

Total piece of shit thing to do, but he wasn't going to hurt her, not by a long way.

After closing everything down, he grabbed his jacket and keys and exited his loft. Maggie was needed for his impromptu plan.

His father didn't have a clue about his cleaner and even if he did, he wouldn't have a clue she had the potential to be his girlfriend.

Yes, she was much different from all the other women he'd ever dated and fucked. For one thing, she had endless curves. A waist not bigger around than his arm, flared hips, and fine, large thighs. He'd got a glimpse of those thighs under the jeans she'd had on under her uniform today. At times, he'd even caught glimpses of them when she wore a dress uniform in the middle of summer. She had fine, shaped legs.

Then naturally he couldn't help but ponder her breasts. Large and the way they moved, he had no doubt they were real. He'd been with his fair share of women over the years, some of whom had no problem going under the knife.

Getting in his car, he entered the address and pulled out of the parking lot for the second time that day.

"I know this sounds crazy, but I require results." There was no way in the world he was going to phone any of his ex-girlfriends. They would all expect a hell of a lot from him, including an engagement ring and more than that.

With Maggie, he'd keep her under her in all ways at all times. This would be strictly businesslike.

He found her apartment building, and there was a parking space. Her complex was not as run-down as he had envisioned it to be. Locking his car, he walked up to the door and found it closed.

Glancing at the names beside the building, he noticed Zacas' name. He pressed the buzzer and waited.

And waited a bit longer.

Frustrated, he kept clicking it until she finally opened the door.

"Wow, who's that?" Maggie asked, panting a bit.

"It's me."

"Me?"

"Glenn."

"How did you even discover where I live?"

"I have my sources. Let me in, we need to talk."

"Are you serious right now?"

"I'm here, aren't I?" His palms were open, his brow creased with a frown as he clipped the question.

"Yeah, so?"

"Let me in or I'm going to do something completely insane."

"Go for it it's your reputation, not mine." She mocked.

"And then what about this? If you don't let me up, I'll call every press agent I have and tell them the love of my life doesn't want to marry me, and she's barricaded herself up in her tower."

"You wouldn't dare!"

"I wouldn't, would I?" He laughed scornfully. "You have no conception whatever of what I'd do to possess what I want."

"Gross!"

The door buzzed, and he smiled. "I'll be right up."

She had the most lovely little growl. Going up the stairs, whistling a tune to himself, he was extremely pleased with what he was doing.

The door was already open and she was standing, once more, arms crossed, looking very upset. "How did you know where I live?"

"It's not as if it's difficult to discover this type of crap these days. Perhaps you should do some digging to see who actually owns your company." He grinned at her. "Let's go somewhere we can be private."

She shook her head but moved back. "You know, this doesn't make you very appealing."

"It doesn't?" Did she ever consider him handsome on any other day? Was it just today she didn't? Her gaze was still glued to him, but he'd certainly considered stripping her bare a time or two, even in the horrid uniform she wore now.

"No."

"It's fortunate that I'm not required to be pretty for you to do something for me."

"I don't like you."

"Not many people do when I'm in the middle of negotiating. You're like a group of people I know."

She closed the door. "Would you like coffee?"

"Yes. Non-"

"Non-dairy milk, yes."

"Another little fact you've picked up about me."

"You're a vegan, Glenn, it's not a genius thing to figure out that you don't consume dairy."

Her apartment was small but sweet. He adored the scent of lavender.

Leaning against the kitchen doorway, he watched her. He paid careful attention to her also drinking the same kind of milk as he did. Strange.

"You're here to convince me to lie to your parents and family."

"You don't have to see it as lying."

"It is what it is. There's no way I'm going to pretend to be your girlfriend."

"Why not?" he asked, indignant.

"I would never, ever, you know, do anything with you."

"You wouldn't?"
