"Creative Consulting is truly tasking for me, but I'm ready to have a base here." he said and my eyes widened.
"So why did you go into fashion?" he asked me.
"Fashion has always been a passion for me." I answered him briefly.
"Maybe we can collaborate in the future." He laughed and sent me a wink.
Throughout the dinner, Megan and Richard chimed in the conversation. As Fabian and I continued to talk, I couldn't stop admiring his smile, his voice so charming.
After dinner and dessert, I excused myself to pick a call and came back inside.
"I will get going now." Fabian eyebrows raised as to why I was leaving so quickly.
"I have an emergency to attend to." I said to them, and they requested I stay longer, but I declined.
Fabian came closer and leaned in slightly, he took my right hand and placed a kiss on it.
"I will love to take you out for a date next week, just the two of us." I smiled broadly without taking my gaze off him.
"Do you have any special request for the date." I asked him.
A chuckle escaped his mouth. "Nothing."
"Alright." I left the mansion smiling and giggling. I loved the connection between me and Fabian. I looked forward to the date.
Three months later....
At Fabian's birthday party, I sat beside him, with the glittery pink body-con dress tightly fitted on my body.
The table was filled with friends and family sitting around while diving into the birthday meal.
Since Naomi was not here with me tonight, I was focused on my phone when Fabian slipped out of his chair.
"Will you marry me Jayla?" he said, pushing forward to close the little gap between us.
I looked away from my phone, the evening hard cold whipped against our faces.
I watched him bring out a box of rings, one knee went down as he didn't let his eyes leave me.
My stomach tightened as the words left his lips. Camera flashes appeared suddenly, clicking through every corner. The shadow of my chandelier shaped earring shined radiated brightly.
The crowd kept on cheering, I wanted to oblige, but I loved Fabian and no time with him will ever seem too fast.
"Yes." I said. He slid the ring into my finger.
He smiled down at me and planted a kiss on my lips.
It's been one week since the proposal, I sat down in my parent's living room. My mum stared deadly at me, I took a quick gaze at my father and his expression was unreadable.
"This is too quick, why do you want to marry him?" My dad finally spoke as he shifted his gaze between my mum and me.
"Dad, I really love him and his family loves me so much."
"Every time we're together, I feel fulfilled and happy, I just need your blessing's dad." I said with a pout on my face.
My mother shook her head in disapproval. "The time we met his family they were welcoming, but we just feel it's too early."
"Think it through, you don't have to rush the wedding if you're not ready." she continued.
My lungs let out a loud release of air, I watched my father clench his fist.
"You might be making a mistake, they are wealthy, and you're a fortune yourself."
I swallowed hard. "I love him."
My mother scoffed. "You have made up your mind."
I nodded firmly.
The preparation of the wedding was a stressful ride, from confirming the invitation of the high-profile guests, to dress fittings, interviews and other activities. The grand wedding happened in three weeks and it was glamorous. The Garrison's gifted us the extended version of their house.
After our honeymoon in the Maldives, Fabian had barely been at home. He had been distant, traveling in and out of the country to attend to meetings and business issues.
"I will be back by weekend." Fabian said as he climbed into his car.
This was yet another trip to Canada that I have to endure staying alone again.
Friday evening was the busiest day of the week. Trying to finish up an important overseas client's dress, a call from Fabian came in.
"Just a few hours and I will be down." I say as I put on the beads on the client's dress.
"I will tell dad to check it out quickly." he said and I agreed.
Fabian wanted me to check for a file urgently for him. But I needed to be done before leaving.
At home later in the evening I headed to the kitchen to make a quick pancake. It was all I was craving today, after it was done, I went to shower.
I was putting on pink lace nightwear when I remembered I had left my phone in the dining hall. I picked up my phone and headed, but the sound of the doorknob opening caught my attention.
The door opened and Richard stepped inside the house. I wasn't expecting him in our home today even though we live right behind each other.
He wasn't in a suit, he was in a white shirt that hangs to his body perfectly. The Garrison men have the masculine beautiful features in them, I had forgotten he had access to the keys.
"Hi Jayla, I didn't mean to bother you after Fabian called and said you were still busy." He said as he closed the door and walked to where I was.
"It's fine, are you here for the documents?" I asked him while trying to adjust my dress properly, and he nodded in response.
He halted his steps and put his hands in his pockets.
"Don't be scared when you see us alone, nobody knows." I had always avoided the condition of being alone with Richard, I respect the family and I love his son dearly.
His eyes met mine, this time it traveled down to my nipple which peaked out behind the light lace underwear. My heart beat increased.
I melted under the heat of his piercing gaze. My father-in-law was irresistibly handsome.
"Let me quickly get it for you." I broke the silence and dashed to my room.
"Here it is." I came back a few minutes later, he was in the living room staring at the piece I was working on at home.
Richard turned around, my eye saw his firm pink lips framed by his stubble. His brows are scrunched into concentration as he ran his hands through his hair.
He took a step closer and I thought he was reaching for the file but his lips crashed into mine in a jiffy.
