Chapter 9 A ridiculous proposal

Celine walked down towards her car, she noticed a shopping mall close to the company and decided to go there to do some shopping before she went home.

She would buy a scarf or shawl for her mother."l know mother would like that,"she muttered to herself smiling as she walked down.

She removed every thought of David's attitude and indifference from her mind.

She wouldn't give up, she thought, after all, she was his wife and she had to make this second marriage work even if David showed indifference to her.

A mistake must not be repeated twice, one should always take caution after an experience.

She started humming to herself as she entered the shopping mall.

David looked remorseful as he watched her go, he stood up to go after her, but he stopped himself quickly.

"How can he, the CEO of the wheelers company, run after a woman?"he said to himself.

He looked curiously at the lunch pack and opened it; as he saw the sandwiches, he forgot he was angry with her as his stomach started rumbling.

He ate everything in the lunch pack and drank the juice.

"How does she know he loves sandwiches?" he wondered.

Celine entered the shopping mall cheerfully and went straight to the clothes section. She saw a nice scarf and shawl for David's Mother and was wondering if she could buy David a gift too.

Finally, she decided to buy him a Rolex Watch; though it was very expensive, she had savings, so it wasn't a problem to purchase it. Going down to the counter, she told the cashier to wrap it as she paid for it, and then she went back to the clothes section again to buy herself a dress.

She picked two dresses to try on,as an attendant directed her to the changing room.

She walked towards the changing room, moving along the corridor and suddenly felt apprehensive, as if someone was following her.

As she reached the changing room, she quickly went inside and locked the door, so she could try on the dresses.

After trying on the dresses, she dressed back in her suit once again, packaging the dresses back, she opened the door and stepped out.

As she stepped out, a figure came from nowhere and pushed her back into the changing room.

She screamed but he put his hands on her mouth and held her from behind.

Celine struggled as much as she could when a familiar voice said from above her head,

"Keep still, my love!"

"My God!" Celine panicked; "where did Ray come from?" She thought he was still in police custody.

She had forgotten, he could be bailed out at any time.

He chuckled, "Surprised right;

You and your father think you could keep me in the confines of a prison, right my love," he said, still holding her mouth.

"I have a proposal for you, baby, it is good; promise me you will hear me out first."

Celine was quiet, thinking of what to do frantically.

What proposal would he have that he thinks she might be interested in? It's better to be calm and pretend to hear him out, as he might do anything to her here.

He turned her around and put her on the chair in the room squatting in front of her to hold the chair.

"Listen to me, baby," he said, grinning at her.

Celine nodded in agreement.

As she noticed that no matter how she screamed someone might not come as the changing room was at the back of the building, unless someone wanted to try on a dress, but for now, she couldn't hear any footsteps.

"Your husband is a rich businessman."

"And what about that?" she retorted suspiciously.

"Get some money from him and give it to me every month, in return, I will be your lover once again,"he said, smiling mockingly at her as if he had won a trophy.

She furrowed her brows, disbelief written all over her face.

Ignoring her expression, he continued, "I can see you are not happy with him, the way you came out from his company, baby, I am here; just bring his money so that we can enjoy ourselves. I will make you a happy woman."

"Just imagine you being married to a billionaire who doesn't have time for you and a boyfriend who can make you happy in bed,"he said, still smiling, which she knew was all fake.

Looking at him, Celine started being irritated by his behaviour; she never knew he could be so disgusting in her sight this way, and to think that she had wanted to build a family with him at one time.

"Gross!"

Celine was just thankful to God that she was already divorced from him and out of his clutches.

"You think I have been starved for s–x,?"she said; what would make you think that?"

He chuckled out aloud.

"Seeing the way you looked and especially how angry you came out of your husband's company speaks a lot of volumes, you know,"he said with a mocking smile.

"So you have been watching me, and following me around," she accused.

"You are my ex-wife and I take it as a responsibility to know that you are okay because I still love you," he said contemptuously.

"But your love is selfish, Ray; you are only concerned about money, especially making it out of people."

"Imagine your proposal now, you are a failure as a husband."

"Now you want to be my boyfriend?"

"A man has to make deals to survive. It is what it is,"he drawled.

"Your mentality is very low, Ray; how can you stoop so low to make such a deal with me?" Celine said.

"Don't tell me that!" He said harshly, keeping his guard once again.

Celine knew she had to make him relax so she could escape.

"Okay, I will think about it and give you a call soon," she said, smiling sweetly at him.

Seeing her reaction, he relaxed and smiled. "That's my girl," he said happily.

She looked around the room with the corner of her eyes. She knew she couldn't allow herself to stay longer with him in the changing room, but her mind was racing seriously, thinking of what to do and fast.

Suddenly, with all her might, she used her legs to push him off balance as he was squatting in front of her.

"Holy shit!" He shouted as he hit his head on the wardrobe at the side of the room.

Celine didn't wait for him to recover. She quickly stood up from the chair and ran to the door, bolting it from behind, then she walked back quickly to the receptionist area, ignoring his knocks and demand to open the door.
