Chapter 7 A bad mood

Celine woke up in the morning to see that David was already up.

As they came back the day before, after riding the horses, he went to his study, to make some phone calls, according to him.

She didn't see him come to sleep at night, because she was asleep then, she also hardly saw him throughout yesterday,

She wondered if he was avoiding her.

She got up reluctantly and looked around the room, except for the sheets that were crumbled, one would think that David hadn't slept in the room last night.

She went to the bathroom to take a shower, wondering where her husband had disappeared to.

Going downstairs, she saw that no one was there, except for a maid cleaning the table.

"Good morning my lady," she greeted.

"Good morning," Celine answered.

"Where is everyone?" she asked.

"Mr Wheelers has gone to the office while Mrs Wheelers is still in her room," the maid answered,and

With a bow, she left the room quickly.

Ohh!

Celine thought aloud; she had forgotten the two-day break the baroness forced him to take, and she understood he didn't need to neglect his business for long.

Immediately, an idea came to her, and she went back to the kitchen; seeing the maid, she asked.

"Did Mr Wheelers eat his breakfast?"

"No, my lady," she answered.

Celine thought of preparing something for lunch for him and taking it over.

After all, he was her husband now, and she needed to make efforts so her second marriage would work.

Now that she's matured and has some experience in marriage, there's no need to take chances.

This time she thought she would put more effort into taking care of her husband's needs.

She went upstairs to ask the baroness for the address of the company.

David was fuming as he entered the

company, he was really in a bad mood, he hardly muffled an answer to his worker's greetings and congratulations for his marriage as he came in.

He went straight to his office and closed the door with a bang.

He was getting attached to Celine and getting used to her, the attraction was much between them and he didn't know how to handle this new

emotional attachment between them.

He furrowed his brows as he frowned.

"Arabella!"

He called out loudly, using the office intercom, "Bring me those files for the meeting."

He wasn't really in the mood to hold a meeting now, but he just had to make an effort, as he couldn't keep the investors waiting.

Arabella came inside his office nervously, she hesitated when he looked up with anger in his eyes.

"What are you waiting for?" he growled

"Here it is David," she said quickly, putting the files on his desk.

"By the way, congratulations once again on your marriage," she said bluntly.

"Thank you!" he answered stiffly

"Any other thing David?" she asked.

"No, not for now,"he scoffed, frowning more as he heard Arabella calling him by his name, though he was the one that told her to, but now it was sounding improper to him.

What the hell!

He thought silently, Is it because he is now married? Arabella can call him anything she likes, he doesn't give a damn.

Looking at her, he raised his brows dismissively.

Arabella moved towards the door and closed it gently as she went out, wondering what had made him so angry this morning.

Celine knocked at the door of the baroness.

"Mother," she called.

"Come in my dear," she muffled an answer from inside.

Celine entered the room, admiring the well-kept artefacts on the shelf; the room was lovely, with a shade of light pink and white.

"Good morning Mother,'' she greeted. "Hope you had a good night's rest?"

"Yes my dear, I am fine and you?"

"I had a sound sleep mother," Celine said.

Celine went forward and sat on the chair near the bed.

"Mother, I would like to know the address of the company; I want to take lunch to my husband."

The baroness smiled, expressing her happiness at Celine's words.

"I am happy you said that my dear," she said, "I know that I made the right choice for my son and that you would take care of him when I am long gone."

"O, come on Mother, don't talk like that," she waved off the baroness' words.

"You still have many years of good health," she said.

"Thank you, my dear child," she replied.

"So what are you planning to cook for him?" she said with excitement.

Looking at her, Celine smiled.

She looked like a little girl excited about the doll babies she just discovered.

"I don't know Mother, that's why I came to you to know what David likes," she replied.

"I think he would like some sandwiches and cold juice for lunch, and also take some fruits like apples and bananas, he would love that too,"the baroness said.

"Thanks so much, Mother," Celine said happily as she stood up, "I will go and prepare it right away."

She went out smiling as the old woman wished her luck.

She needs all the luck in the world, she thought, as she got busy in the kitchen, making a sandwich for her husband.

The sound of David being her husband gave her a good feeling, she never knew he could steer these feelings of comfort, belonging, want and love.....

She paused!

"Oh my!" she exclaimed, putting her hands to cover her mouth.

"Does that mean I am in love with him?"she said to herself.

"Is it possible to fall in love twice in a lifetime?"

She shrugs,

"Some people fall in love all the time," she thought, chuckling to herself.

The maids came to the kitchen and offered to help her, but she declined politely.

"Go and do some other work," she told them.

They went out giggling to themselves, happy to see her show care towards their master.

She finished making the sandwich, made the juice and put the fruits and everything else in the lunch pack, and she was ready to go.

She left the pack in the kitchen and went upstairs to take a bath.
