Chapter 7 Demeaning

Adrian's demeaning words motivated me more to complete the project by all means.

I couldn't wait to round this up and then say" In your face, you fucking asshole".

Of course, I wouldn't say it to his face.

I can just say in my mind.

I wish I could give him a piece of my mind.

So I put in more effort and practically all the time.

I can only eat snacks and instant noodles.

I took most of the documents home to continue working.

I barely got enough sleep and to tell you the truth...I was more exhausted.

On Friday morning, Lucy walked up to me.

" Leah, did Mr Adrian come here to scold you again".

I frowned, scold me? I haven't seen him this morning.

Really? I ran into him a few minutes ago he was coming out of here, Lucy pointed at the door.

I sighed.

He must have come here to mock me.

I have to give him the surprise of his life on Monday.

"What if he was secretly watching you, oh man! I think he likes you."

He doesn't. He just can't wait to fire me if I fail to complete the task.

Lucy's face fell.

"Am sorry Leah, I cause so much trouble I can't be of help to you either".

L looked up and was saddened by the quilt on her face.

Common now, you've been apologizing for days now. I told you it's fine, I don't blame you for the mistake I understand.

"What did I do to deserve you as a friend, not just a friend but my best friend, you are so cool, have you had breakfast?"

I shook my head.

Then it's on me, I will quickly get you something. I'm getting you your favorite, she scurried off.

While everyone had Saturday and Sunday to themselves.

I was still working on my computer

On Sunday, I was the only one working in the company.

I had a choice to work here so that Adele would not distract me from working.

I briefly wonder what my life will be like when I get fired tomorrow.

I would have to start job hunting.

I would have to start spending my little savings.

But then again I wouldn't have to see Adrian's face and constantly be reminded of our one-night stand.

I briefly considered being fired.

Suddenly, heavy footsteps filled the air.

I swallowed my spit

As far as I know, I am the only one in the company building.

I tried not to panic.

It might just be the company security guards.

I looked up and saw him walking in gracefully.

I never really gave much thought to men in suits but always seeing Adrian in one made me have some sort of thoughts.

"Good evening sir".

I had a feeling you would still be here working fruitlessly, he began to mock me.

I rolled my eyes.

Here we go again.

Can't he ever keep this mouth shut and just stay handsome?

If you truly can't complete it then leave it and take some rest.

If I didn't know him better now I would think he was being caring right now.

I'll have it completed and it will be in your office by tomorrow, I assured.

He nodded and walked away.

I decided that keeping my job was better for me so I have to stay up all night.

By 7 am, the project has been completed.

I yawned and cleaned up my space and my eyes wrapped up the files and headed to his office.

But I wondered if he was already in his office, I glanced through the glass of his office and saw him already sitting down in his chair.

When did he come in?

I knocked at his door, and he replied with his deep voice.

Come in.

I opened the door and walked in.

Good morning, sir, it's completed now, I said and placed the file on his table.

He reached out hurriedly and went through it.

The bidding meeting is at 9 am, and I don't have time to check for any mistakes in the file. I don't wish there were none because it could tarnish the reputation of our company.

I swallowed

I have worked here for three years now... I'm sure there is no mistake.

I understand sir, and I can guarantee that there won't be any problems.

He stood up,

I'll have them be printed out in several copies, For now, go through that door, Adrian pointed to the door, There is a bathroom there, take a shower.

Take a shower?, "I use my hand to cover my chest".

What the hell is this man planning to do to me?

Adrian chuckled showing off his perfect set of teeth.

He looks so handsome right now.

You don't smell nice right now, he announced.

Ouch.

I slowly sniffed my arms.

He was right and I felt embarrassed.

I'll go home and take my shower.

"The bidding is by 9 am we should have gotten everything ready before 8:30am. Can you make it home and back on time?".

I frowned.

I've never been present at such a meeting before.

My team and I only have to work out the project and present it to the manager or CEO.

As if he were reading my thoughts, he said

"You're the one who did the calculations. You have to be there to answer any questions that might be asked.

I slowly nodded my head.

It would take an hour to get home and then take a shower, get dressed, and get back which would take a lot of time.

And also concerning the fact that today is Monday, there's going to be traffic.

For the past few days, I have worked too hard to let it go down the drain.

"I'll take my shower in there", I accepted.

Good, make it quick before others get to the company, he said, and walked out of the office to print out the file.
