Chapter 5 Wilderness 5

Chapter 5

She is mine.

That thought surfaced in my brain as they headed inside because the snow started to fall hard.

I gritted my teeth not because of the cold, but because of......jealousy. I am supposed to be with her. Not with that stupid boy.

Before I even did something I'd regret, I moved away, and walked back to the cabin that I built on the side of the mountain. As I was walking, I realized that the wind was too cold and harsh to be normal. I knew that there would be a blizzard.

I will get back to her after the storm, at the moment my focus is to get as much wood as I can. I need to gather wood for the fireplace and some for the stove, because the snow storm lasts for weeks. I wouldn't be able to see her again if I froze to death.

As I was getting wood around my forest, I heard intense footsteps as though somebody was running.

I thought it was a deer or wild boar, but it was her....again.

Carrying the woods with one arm, I followed her as she sprinted to the dense part of my forest. She was too occupied crying to even notice that there was someone following her.

Where is that stupid boy? Why did he let her go all alone? And why is my woman crying?

Those were the questions that were circling in my head as I followed her.

When she finally stopped, I hid in the huge bushes with some woods tucked in my arm. She cried more and she weakly knelt on the snowy dirt. I wanted to wrap my arms around her and cradle her until she stopped crying. I want to ask her what happened and who might've hurt her because I will make them pay.

My fist balled.

I was so angry and eager to know whoever it was, that I didn't notice that a wood fell and it made a sound.

She froze.

Skatá

"H-Hello? Anybody there?" She asked as she's now standing. Her tone was shaking, and her whole body was shivering too. The snow was now pouring hard. She's not wearing clothes that are appropriate for the current weather, so I am sure that's because she feels freezing cold and also from....fear.

"Hello?" She repeated.

Just when I came out of the bushes, she passed out. But right before she hit the ground, I already caught her.

Savannah

When I opened my eyes, I was greeted by the blazing fire in the fireplace, I was a few steps away from it but I could still feel its heat. I wasn't cold anymore, what I was lying on was soft and I felt like my body was leaning against a warm wall. My eyes widened when I caught sight of a big and hairy dog on the side of the fireplace.

I was startled when it started barking, because it was a big dog. It looks like an adult American Alsatian or a Husky? I have no idea, because I was so scared to even try to figure it out!

"HOLY SHIT, DOG!--–"

"Dog, hush!" I was even more surprised when a big and deep voice silenced the dog. It immediately stopped barking and just sat quietly in its place. I froze because I realised that I wasn't lying against a warm wall. Instead, there was a huge man with a hard body behind me.

With my eyes wide, everything started to dawn upon me. Where the hell am I? Whose fúcking house is this? And who is the man behind me and cuddling my body?

"You're safe, my beautiful woman." He whispered in a husky tone, before I felt him move away. Somehow my body cried in abandonment.

What the hell, Savannah?

I immediately sat up, only then did I notice that I was wrapped in a soft blanket. He was kneeling beside me with a bare upper body, so we could see eye to eye, but because of his tall build and wide body, I still had to look up to see his face. His hair was a bit messy, his face was smooth, and he was just looking at me.

"W-Who are you?" I immediately asked.

All I remember is that I caught Terrence, then I ran into the forest, and then I heard rustling noise, and then everything went black.

"What did you do to me? Why were you hugging me?" I asked one question after another.

"I didn't do anything to you. You weren't wearing proper winter clothes so when the snow poured earlier, you passed out. I took you here to my cabin. I had to put you in front of the fire and give you body heat, so you don't die from the cold." He said in an accented tone.

I couldn't answer. Instead, my tracherous eyes travelled to his body. His broad chest have dark inks on them, those tattoos snakes down to his muscled arms, down to his

corded forearms.

It looks familiar.

When I looked back to his face, it sank in. Gray eyes that were almost like silver, tall with bronze skin, huge man, with firm but-

"It's you. The man in the store." I said in disbelief.

He nodded silently.

"Y-You were in the bushes? Were y-you following me?"

"You were in my land, woman"

I stared at him. As far as I know the forests around the cabin are for the public and, a white man telling me that it was in his land?? Is this dude about to make some racist comme-

"The forest on the opposite side of the cabin was for public use, while the dense forest on the side of the cabin is my property."

Oh, whoo, okay. He's not racist and not about to hate crime me, that's a good sign. And what? He owns the big forest???

"I also own the part of the mountain where this cabin is." He said while looking at me with his steel gray eyes.

Wow, this man must be rich? Is he working for the mafia or something?

"I was doing rounds in my forest to get wood because there's a storm coming, and then I saw you.... I didn't mean to scare you, and I am sorry if I did." He softly said.

I swallowed before nodding slightly. I can hear the harsh wind whooshing outside and the snow was falling so hard that I cannot see anything but darkness through the window.
