Chapter 4 Wilderness 4

Chapter 4

Savannah

"I am done, Terrence. I am through dealing with your shit."

He shook his head.

"Come on, Sav. It was a small mistake."

I laughed even harder.

"Small mistake?! How stupid are you? You exchanged nudes with different girls, you had Sex On Phone with a chick, and you told them that your girlfriend is dead and you're happily single! You call that a small mistake, you animal?!"

He took steps forward until he was in front of me. His hair was still dripping wet and his chest was on display.

"Sav, come on... you always forgive me-"

"Not anymore, asshole." I sobbed.

I cannot do this anymore.

"You're so dramatic, come on. Just forgive me, I promise I will change-"

I laughed loudly as tears continued to stream down my cheeks. He just looks more constipated than a guilty man. I am done with his manipulating, lying, and cheating ass.

I can't breathe.

I need to get away from him or I'll pull his hair until he's bald. When he tried to touch me, I slapped his hand away and marched out of the room.

"Savvie!" I heard him yell but I was already out of the door.

With salty tears running down my cheeks, I mindlessly ran without a direction. The wind was whooshing and the snow's crunching noises were erupting as I stepped on them with my slippers. The coldness was biting my skin but I couldn't care less.

Five months of my life to that asshole.

Months of pretending like everything was okay.

I had already passed by so many trees as I ran through the forest. Thankfully, the moonlight slightly penetrated the tall and thick trees, so I could still see where I was going.

My legs were hurting and the cold and harsh wind were burning my lungs... but I kept on running. My heart hurts more.

A fog of smoke was coming out of my mouth as I exhaled swiftly.

I ran,

and

ran some more until my legs gave up. I stopped and finally knelt down on the mixed dirt and snow. The ice was seeping through my winter pajamas and the cold wind was penetrating my thick longsleeves. My chest heaves as I catch my breath.

When I looked around, I was surrounded mostly by big Douglas-fir and Lodgepole pine trees.

I am fucked because these trees thrive in the heart or in the remote part of big forests.

Which means I ran too far.

A woman with a degree in forestry got lost in the forest. Amazing.

"Shit." I immediately stood up. Suddenly, the heartbreak and Terrence's cheating were the least of my concern right now.

I looked up at the sky when I heard a loud thunder. I had to look back down because the snow falls harder and heavier, and the wind became even stronger.

I have lived in Colorado long enough to know that that is a clear sign of an upcoming blizzard.

Damn it.

The leaves were already making noise due to the strong wind.

I was about to try to find my way back when I heard rustling in the tall and thick bushes behind me, and suddenly, I felt that familiar gaze watching me again.

Silas Fitzgerald

After a very long time, I decided to head out of my sanctuary because for the first time, Dog decided to be a picky eater. He didn't want his usual roasted wild pig liver. I wasn't gonna let Dog starve, so I was forced to go to the small town of Pinbrooke, and try to look for canned food that Dog might like.

All I intended to do was choose whatever food I saw and head back to the wilderness, which was my home for the past six years after I left my bloody and violent life in Elláda.

But then, I had to see this beautiful young woman in the store.

Back in Greece, when people look at me, they are scared and they think of death, because of my reputation in the mafia. Even the people who were not aware of my past occupation still get intimidated too because of my build, my tattoos, and how I carry myself. But when I looked at her, she was not scared, rather, curiosity was gleaming in those russet brown eyes.

I couldn't take my eyes off of her. There was something so alluring about her except for the fact that I can sense that she is fearless.

Maybe it's her silky brown hair, or the adorable red tip of her nose because of the cold, or her pouty red lips. When I saw her in the small grocery store, I stood there like an idiot and stared at her with a puzzled and yet dark expression because I couldn't remember the last time I felt that way... I couldn't because there is nothing to remember...

...because I have never felt that before towards a woman...

Sure, I've been with women before, but they were nothing but sexual partners. I have never felt this magnetism....almost like obsession, because even though she already left the store.

I couldn't take my mind off of her.

I felt like an addict that needs another fix of drugs.

Only that I have one drug of choice and it was that woman with such a beautiful face and curious gaze.

After I bought food for Dog, I walked my way back to my cabin and fed him. Dog was too sleepy after he ate, so he fell asleep on the rug after. Then I walked many miles again to look if she might've gone to a tourist cabin near my forest.

And I was right.

Like an addict who got another fix of a Class A drug, I felt adrenaline rush through my veins when I saw her outside the car. I knew she was with the white blonde girl, but I wasn't aware that she was with a boy.

I thought he was just a friend like the girl, until I saw them on the side of the cabin they rented. They were around a campfire, eating burnt marshmallows. I felt that hot ball of irrational anger that made me want to beat the living shit out of the boy, when he put his arm around her, and kissed her.

She is mine.
