Chapter 5 The Call Of Power

Rachel sat alone in her dorm room, the desk lamp's warm glow creating long shadows over the walls. She had just ended a long, hard day, and her thoughts was full of the prophecy and her growing bond with Luka. Every day seemed to blend into the next as she tried, and failed, to ignore the strange draw she felt towards him.

The more she fought it, the more energy she felt inside her. It wasn't just a physical attraction; it was something deeper, more basic. The power she had been keeping deep inside her was coming back to life.

All of a sudden, the air changed. A strong wave of energy went through her body. The room shook. Rachel gasped and fell back as the walls started to quake. Her heart was racing. The things on her desk shook fiercely, and her books flew off the table and hit the floor.

"What's going on?" She muttered, her breath coming in short bursts.

She attempted to calm down, but the force surged again, out of control, like a wave that was about to pull her under. It wasn't just her feelings; it was something inside her that had been sleeping for a long time that was now coming to the surface.

The lights flickered, making a creepy shadow across the room. Rachel stayed still, her heart racing with panic. The door slammed shut behind her, and the windows shook in their frames. She couldn't stop it.

A sob came out of her mouth. She exclaimed, "What have I become?" and her hands shook. The power was too much. It scared her. It took over her.

The next day, Luka showed up at Rachel's door, and his presence made the little space feel very intense. He had been persistent, looking for her even when she told him to leave her alone. She couldn't stop thinking about him. Not anymore.

Luka murmured softly as he walked into her dorm, "You've been avoiding me." His eyes were dark and focused, looking for something more.

"I haven't been avoiding you," Rachel said, her voice shaking even though she didn't want it to. She had spent the night trying to figure out what had happened, but every time Luka was around, she lost more and more control. "I just need some room."

Luka quietly closed the door behind him, keeping his eyes on hers. "You don't need space, Ymir." You need to know who you are. And who we are to you.

Rachel's heart raced. She could feel the heat of his words and the strong attraction between them. There was no doubt about the relationship. She felt alive when he was around, but she was also scared of what was going to happen.

Luka moved closer and said more quietly. "We're not merely meant to be, Rachel. We hold the key to each other's futures. You shouldn't fight this. You should accept it.

Rachel shook her head and stepped back. "I can't just give in to this."

Luka leaned out and moved a strand of hair out of her face. "Ymir, you're not just any woman." I own you, and I'm not letting you go.

Rachel had trouble sleeping all night because she couldn't stop thinking about what Luka had said and how the tension between them was escalating. Her strength was waking up, but the draw towards him made it much difficult to resist. She was in a bind. She was torn between the person she was becoming and the life she used to live.

She had to get him to go. She had to stay on task. She couldn't be Luna. She didn't want to be a part of their world.

Luka showed up again, his black eyes probing hers with an intensity that made it seem like he knew what was going on. "You're fighting it." But the more you fight it, the stronger it gets. "Rachel, this is who you are."

Her chest got tight. She wanted to tell him to go away, that she wasn't ready and couldn't handle the weight of their future. But when he got closer, she felt a rush of heat and an obvious connection that made her heart accelerate.

"I don't want this," she said in a shaky voice.

Luka's palm brushed over her arm, and a wave of warmth went through her. "I don't want to make you do anything, but you're mine." We both know it.

Rachel closed her eyes and tried not to pull away, but the energy was too strong for her. She muttered, "What's happening to me?" Her voice was so low that it was hard to hear. "I don't even know who I am anymore."

There was a lot of raw energy in the air. Her breath caught, and her body vibrated with strength. Rachel stepped back, but the pull between them was too great. The silver moonlight outside lit up the room, and when it touched her skin, something inside her sprung to life.

"I can't do this," she whispered, her breath coming in short gasps.

But Luka was already too close. "You don't have to fight it anymore." "Ymir, it's too late now."

As Rachel went across the campus courtyard, she felt the sun's warmth. Her mind was too busy with all she had been trying to ignore. The whispers in her head, the pull towards Luka, and the scary power that was growing inside her were all too much. She just wanted to be alone for a minute.

A dark figure appeared in front of her and broke that tranquilly.

Gideon.

Her heart skipped a beat, and a cold ran down her back. He was back.

"Rachel." His low, powerful voice cut through the noise of the university around them. He moved closer, and his dark eyes stayed on hers. The smirk that she knew so well was on the edge of his lips. Seeing him made her stomach turn.

"What do you want?" Rachel's voice came out sharper than she meant it to, but the tightness in her chest wouldn't let her soften.

"You," he murmured, his voice now a whisper that was hard to hear but full of meaning. "Rachel, your destiny is calling you." The cult and I will do whatever to get you.

She couldn't breathe. The group. Her fate. Everything she had been running from was right in front of her. She felt stuck, like her body was fixed in place.

"You can't control me, Gideon," she said back, her voice harsher this time.

Gideon's eyes got darker, and a hint of amusement shone through. "Don't think you have a choice, Luna." He moved closer, and his shadow fell over her. "Your fate is set."

Rachel's heart raced as he got closer to her. She knew she couldn't get away from him. Not anymore.

Rachel barely made it back to her dorm, her heart racing and the weight of Gideon's words hanging in the air. The door banged shut behind her, and she leaned against it to attempt to get her thoughts together. She ran her fingers through her hair to try to calm the tempest inside her.

But the storm was far from over.

Rachel closed her eyes and took calm, deep breaths. She could feel the force inside her, like a hurricane that she couldn't control. It got stronger every day. Every time she felt a strong feeling, like fear, want, or anger, the force inside her grew stronger and begged to be let out. And tonight, it seemed stronger than it ever had.

The air surrounding her got heavy and crackled with energy. She fell back, using her hands to push against the wall for support. The lights in the room started to flicker in time with her heartbeat, and the room shook.

She whispered to herself, "No, not now," but the power didn't listen. It was taking charge. She was only there for the ride.

The floor shook under her feet, and everything on her desk started to shake. The walls of the room seemed to close in on her, and her heart raced. She felt an odd mix of cold, hot, and electric all at once.

Rachel yelled in anger and clinched her fists. The force that had been building up inside her burst out. The desk flew across the room, and the windows shook in their frames.

Rachel fell to her knees, out of breath. "This is it," she said in a shaky voice. "I can't control myself."
