Adonis POV
No! No! Nate growled in my head, fighting to be set free to run to his mate.
Her scent was overwhelming now. The disgusting scent of half breeds, it made my blood boil with rage. The smell of her blood ravaged my nostrils, she has been hurt. Dead even.
I started running towards the execution ground. Nate fought me even more fiercely, demanding to be set free. Five years ago, I could never have suppressed Nate this easily, he was a powerful beast. But after the witch cursed us and left us for dead, Nate lost most of his powers. But it won't be long now, I will get back everything that has been taken from us.
Nate growled again. He could tell that I did not care about saving her. I just needed her to be alive long enough to save me and after that I would personally rip her head off her body.
Besides, if the half human was dead, it was best to keep Nate at bay, else he would not rest until he has shredded everyone at the execution ground to pieces.
At the execution ground, at one end the half human was tied to a stake, with blood gushing from her shoulder, but she was still alive. And at the opposite end, a frizzled haired warrior was reloading his shotgun. Fang, my beta and the commander of the shadow warriors – my special and most powerful fighters, distinct from my normal army - had a thing for making his prey suffer before finally killing them off.
The frizzled hair warrior was about to fire again, before I could scream at him to stop, Nate broke free and dashed towards the warrior, knocking the warrior into the air and tossing the gun into the distance.
The shock on Fang's face did not go unnoticed, he must be wondering why Nate was desperate to save the half breed. Nate barreled towards her, with one swift movement of her claws he cuts the rope and she falls to the ground.
The fear in her eyes were almost palatable as she backed away with every strength she could muster, Nate made to pick her up but she throws sand into our eyes .
Nate had to go. I throw us to the ground as I fought with all my might to take control of our body and return to a less scary form. She was most probably unaware of our world.
"After her!" I growled in a distorted voice.
After what felt like forever, I finally regained control and shifted into my human form. "Clothes!" I barked at no one in particular but moments later the frizzle haired warrior limped towards me with a pair of pants.
By the time I had put on the pants, Fang returned with the half breed strapped on his shoulder, kicking and screaming and leaving trails of blood.
"Give her to me," I said firmly, stretching out my hands.
Fang gave me a confused look. "You almost killed one of my best warriors for a half breed. May I know why?" he growled.
"She's my...." I trailed off, unable to complete it. I felt ashamed to call a thieving half breed my mate. If word got out about this, I would become a laughing stock in my own pack and rival packs would think I am weak and increase their attacks on my territory.
After word of my curse got out, some rival packs have been making moves against my kingdom, testing our strengths to see how weak I've become.
Fang nodded in understanding, even though I could see all million questions he had in his eyes. He carefully put her in my arms and for the first time, I got a better look at her. Her curly chestnut colored hair was disheveled, falling freeing down her back and her fierce blue eyes glared at me. For a half breed woman, she was strong.
And as though to prove her strength, she scratched my face and mad to leap out of my arms. But I just tightened my grips around her, cursing under my breath.
"Let me go, I did not steal anything!" she screeched.
I frowned. Make that a liar and a thief. I might have been drunk last night, but I could still recognize her. She just didn't look as classy as she did the other night. But she was the one.
"If I don't take you to a healer, you will bleed out and die in the next couple of minutes."
"And I'm supposed to believe that you want to save me," she snapped, clutching her injured shoulder.
I chuckled. "Trust me, no one wants you alive more than I do."

The look of disbelief on Helga's face, when she saw the half breed, confirmed my fears. The half breed was my mate. It was both good and bad news.
"You finally found her," she said, as she showed me to a bed where I placed the half breed. "What is your name child?"
The half breed gave her a weird look. "Who are you people?" she asked weakly.
Helga flashed a kind smile, creasing her features. "Adonis will explain everything to you. I have to fix you up first."
"Vee," the half breed said, squeezing her face in pain. "My name is Vee".
Vee, Nate repeated. I almost rolled my eyes at him.
"My name is Helga and you are safe now, Vee," Helga's smile widened.
I watched as Helga hurriedly gathered herbs, chanted spells and hovered around the confused Vee.
"Drink this," Helga handed her a glass of a green colored concoction. Vee hesitated staring at the cup suspiciously. "It would help you regain your strength. You lost a lot of blood."
Vee glanced at me briefly before taking the concoction and downing the green liquid. From her facial expression, I could tell it was not a very pleasant drink.
Helga motioned for me to follow her to the inner room. I already knew what she wanted to talk about but I still followed her into the room.
"How long would it take to make a cure for me?" There was no point beating around the bush.
"It is not that simple Adonis."
"You said only my mate can break the curse and cure me!"
"That was before I found out she was a half breed. Her blood might even kill you."
I chuckled. The fucking witch must have known this before placing the cursed disease on me. But I will take my chances with the half breed. If there is even a slither of hope that she might save me, I will risk everything.
"I will take my chances."
Helga sighed and after a few moments she nodded.
I returned to the room and unsurprisingly, the half breed was gone.
