Chapter 2 Sleeping with a stranger

Kaelan was surprised when he turned around and saw Jade.

"Thank you for bringing me up here," Jade said softly. She gave a playful pose, leaning against the bed while her fingers gently toyed with the edge of her dress.

Kaelan leaned in closer to her and said, "Of course. Get some rest. You've had too much to drink." He stood up, pushing his hands into his pockets, and turned to leave. However, before he could take a step, her hand caught his wrist again.

His skin tingled at her touch. He glanced back, locking eyes with her deep, alluring gaze. "Please stay," she whispered.

Kaelan stood in the quiet room, dumbfounded. "You sure?" he asked with a tougher tone. Instead of answering, Jade pulled him towards herself, causing him to lose his balance and fall right on top of her with their lips pressing against each other.

Suddenly, there was a blackout and the room became dark. Kaelan attempted to stand up, but Jade seized the opportunity.

Jade sighed with annoyance after reading the message. "Who was that?" Kaelan inquired. Jade responded, "Let's not worry about him; instead, let's concentrate on enjoying our time together."

Jade was doing just to overcome the heartbreak she had just gone through. Even if it's just for a night.

He glanced at the room and realized she was gone. On the nightstand, he spotted a brown paper with something written on it. He leaned in to read it, which said, "Thanks for taking care of the bills. I appreciate what we shared last night."

Kaelan got dressed and stepped out of the hotel room.

Luca had been trying hard to reach Jade, but nothing seemed to work. He even went to her apartment, but she wasn't there. Frustrated, he started calling all her relatives he could think of.

Just then, he received a message from Aria asking, "Have you found her yet?" He responded with a simple "No."

Suddenly, his phone rang with a contact named "honey bun." He answered, greeting the caller, "Hi honey."

Aria was on the line and asked, "What will you do when you find her?" Luca replied confidently, "I'm going to persuade her to talk to the media and clear things up."

Aria then asked, "Are you sure she'll agree to that?" She sounded concerned. "She can be easily persuaded because she cares about me a lot" Luca assured her.

"Alright, I hope everything goes well," Aria said before ending the call.

Luca continued to try reaching Jade when a notification appeared suddenly on his phone suggesting, "Try checking the cemetery; you might find her there."

During their time of relationship, Luca never paid attention to Jade whenever she was sad or depressed. Unknown to him is that Jade does go to her late mother's grave to ease her pain by speaking to it. It was actually one of the red flags Luca showed, but Jade was blinded by love that she couldn't see it.

Grateful for the insight, Luca texted back, "Thank you for helping me see what I failed to notice."

Aria then sent him the cemetery's location, and Luca quickly got in his car, entered the address into his GPS, and set off.

Throughout their time together, Luca had never visited the cemetery with Jade; he only brought her flowers to go with.

When he arrived, he parked his car and stepped out, walking through the cemetery as he searched for Jade.

Finally, he spotted her in the distance, kneeling at a grave and crying. "Jade," he called out. She turned and saw Luca running toward her, calling her name.
