Chapter 4 Looking for missus

After the wedding, greg looked out for Vanessa but didn't see her. He couldn't get her voice out of his head and her smile. He googled her but found no result, she wasn't a celebrity or an influencer. He contracted a special agent to bring him info about her.

Weeks went by and no results, he wondered why the desire to see her grew unbearable each passing day, he was miserable due to the fact that everything he'd ever sort after always arrived on a platter of gold and on speed, but she was difficult, she wasn't traceable cause she wasn't on social media and doesn't have a single post about her. After futile search, he asked for the name of the company that served at the wedding, he was given the name, the following day he drove there and demanded to see all their staff members, due to his influence and money, every staff both on contract and fully employed was ordered to be around that day, they lined up when he walked in, he looked at each carefully one after the other.

"Who's missing?" He asked in an authoritative tone.

"A member of the managerial team, she traveled to her hometown to see her family and would be back by the end of the week" the director replied.

"What's her name?"

"Vanessa knightly"

"Give me intel on her current whereabouts"

"Uh... Sir we keep our employees credentials confident, if she's done wrong we can bring her in ourselves."

"Now!" Greg said with a final note in his voice.

The director gulped. "Straight away sir." He dialled vanessa's cell, it rang for a while then went into voicemail, he tried again, same thing, the third time and she picked up. "Hey vee, how are you enjoying your vacation?... Did you by any chance offend someone at the royal wedding?..... There's someone here to see you and he looks agitated....b..." The phone was snatched from his ear by greg.

"Be here before sunset!" He dropped the phone hard on the table.

"Um.. That won't be possible sir, she's all the way in the Caribbean" the scared to shit director chipped in.

"Fine, i'll go get her myself" he stormed out of the complex, got into his car and drove off.

Vanessa on the other side, looked at the phone in surprise after the call hung up. "What's going on?" She asked in a soft tone to no one in particular.

"Dinner is served!" Her mom's voice echoed from the kitchen.

She dropped the phone on the table and went to help her mother set the table.

She always travel to the island to see her parents, she grew up there and was fond of the place, as a result she always grab the slightest opportunity to be there regardless how short the time period was. After the royal wedding, she was given a fat bonus check by her company and took a week's break, she took the next available flight to the Caribbean to see her parents, she comes from a family of five, she had two siblings, her mom and dad. But the family has grown to seven members now, she had a niece and nephew from both siblings. She loves her mom's meals and always looked forward to them whenever she's around.

The following day, vanessa took her niece and nephew shopping, they got snacks and groceries, a car pulled up at the supermarket driveway and stopped in front of them on their way out, she was startled due to how sudden the car parked in front of them. She cursed at the driver and tried to move around the car because it blocked their path, the doors opened and Greg and two men dressed in black stepped down.

"Vanessa Knightly!" Greg called out her name and she stopped on her track.

She turned to the voice.

"Hi" his tone became friendly "I'm Greg Thompson" he would've slapped himself if there was nobody around cause he sounded so soft, stupid and weak, the authoritative and stern speaking tone he always used was no where to be found, what is happening to him? He dismissed the thought immediately.

"Hi! I recognise you from the wedding, nice to make your acquaintance sir" she extended a hand to him. He didn't take her hand. She cleared her throat in embarrassment, "what brought you to this part of the world?"

"I came to get you" his tone was firmer this time.

"Get me? Did i do something wrong?" She asked in a worried tone.

"No...it's, i can't talk here, get in the car."

"Sorry sir but i won't"

Greg felt a sting on his pride, he has never been disobeyed before, not by his staff, employees, sub ordinated, clients, partners or business partners, no one. "Excuse me?" He asked to be sure he heard correctly.

"I said i won't go with you, i am not getting in the car" she replied adamantly.

Greg sighed, "What do you think this is, a negotiation?"

"I'm sorry but you can't just show up out of nowhere and order me into your car sir!"

"Get in the car!"

"I'll be on my way now" she turned to leave but Greg held her arm.

"Please" he sounded helpless.

"What's this about?"

"I can explain"

"Go on"

"Just not here please"

"How do i know you're not a kidnapper or assassin?"

Greg would've laughed out loud if he wasn't trying really hard to play cool, who was she to be abducted or assassinated? Her net worth isn't recognised anywhere even on the dark web, as far as his name goes, she's a nobody.

"We'll drive to your house, wherever that may be on the island of you like"

"I don't do free rides"

"Okay fine, i learnt you planned the Abijans' wedding party and i loved it, can we discuss business in the car?"

"Oh!" She eased off a bit.

"Shall we?" He gestured to the car door.

"Wait!"
