Chapter 4 Open Secrets

Every shred of compulsion urged her to make him there and then-what was all that about? She knew her transition could be painful, but it wasn't as if she wanted to tear him apart.

As she rose to her feet, ready to walk away, she felt her knees give out, and she lost balance-she fell onto the floor.

Suddenly, a smarting pain hit hard upon her head; it was too excruciating-what the heck had she taken from him?

She got up, her head pounding, and went home before she was caught halfway. The last time it happened, she bit Agatha during one of her transformation episodes, and fell ill the next day. Her mom knew what was wrong with her and why she hid her from the rest of the world, but wouldn't talk to her or tell her anything.

She could see the chimney from afar; her mother was cooking inside the cottage, as she cooked her favorite fish, so she would eat before the pain would last throughout the night.

It was almost evening, and Nuella was not back yet; she began to get worried.

"Why is she not back yet?" She asked herself. Her mind went to Marcy, who warned her not to let her go out, but Nuella was already gone before she could stop her.

It was going to be a full moon soon. She immediately got up, coming out of the cottage to see Nuella holding onto the tree afar, looking tired and weak, like she had just fought a herd of guards.

"Nuella!!' She called, worried but still happy to see that she had returned in one piece.

Nuella looked up to see her running in her direction.

"What happened to you? "You look a mess! "Gosh! "You're burning up!" She held her, trying to give her a balance,

"Mom...?" She opened her eyes to see her clearly, not her mother and not the strange man.

"It's me...what the heck happened? "I shouldn't have let you out all by yourself." She blamed herself,

"Here," Nuella tried giving her the baking soda when Nuella totally blacked out.

"Nuella!!!" She had called to catch her before she hit the ground.

It was into the dead of the night. She slowly opened her eyes, looking at the blurry vision of Agatha staring at her.

"Nuella?" She called as soon as she saw her open her eyes, as she looked up to see her mother's worried eyes.

"What happened?" She managed to say her voice so little. She was out of strength. She tried to stand up, but lost her strength.

"Just lay down. "You've lost a lot of strength," Agatha said to her. As she laid her back on the bed, she placed her hand on her forehead. She was out of a fever.

"It's almost time" Nuella said sadly, as her eyes looked out the window. It was dark and was beginning to turn red.

Tears pricked down Agatha's eyes as she stood up to leave for safety, because she had not learned to control her powers yet.

Nuella smiled sadly. She was used to the pain, as she waited and waited but nothing was going on.

"What's going on with her?" She asked herself. Agatha looked from the other room. It was time but no growling was heard, no cries.

"Nuella?" She called to know if she was still there.

"Mom? ..... "Mom, I think there's a problem." She added, panicking a bit, Agatha got out as she looked at the Full Moon. It was slowly turning white,

"That's strange?" She looked at Nuella, who was confused as well.

"Did anything happen when you went to the market? "You came back pretty weak?" Agatha asked, but Nuella couldn't think of anything that could be the problem.

"None that I know of...I just went to the market, bought the baking soda but after that I bumped into someone and that was it", she explained. Agatha pondered who she might have bumped into.

"Description of this person."

"A man....and oh yes...he had green eyes."

Agatha's eyes popped open. "Green eyes?" She questioned, with Nuella confused.

"Yes, he had green eyes and something strange happened when we both interlocked our gazes," She adjusted herself in bed, facing Agatha.

"He winced in pain, as if my eyes were hurting him? "But after I escaped, I felt the same pain. "I managed to walk home to the point you saw me before I lost consciousness," she explained briefly.

"This is bad! ""This is terrible!!!" She stood up abruptly, pacing the length and breadth of the room.

"Why? What's the problem?'' It was high time she explained what was going on to her because she didn't understand anymore.

"You shouldn't have seen him; you are a danger to him!"

"Huh? Danger? "How am I a threat to someone I barely know?" She asked, but Agatha kept mute. It was then she knew she had something to tell.

"Mom?" She called,

"There's something you're not telling me." She added, looking at Agatha, who avoided her gaze totally.

"You don't understand, Nuella" she stated,

Nuella's twitched,

"What do you mean, I wouldn't understand? "Mom, please tell me something that I do not know." Her eyes pleaded for answers as she turned to Agatha.

"You shouldn't have met him, okay!" She yelled,

"Why? Is he cursed as I am or something? Say something Mom!"

"It's because you were born with Lunar Absorption Syndrome! "You can't go near him; you'll absorb his curse to yourself!" Agatha spat out. Nuella stood there in shock.

She was hoping all this was all a lie, and she was just sick with something. But when she looked at Agatha, who burst into tears, she knew this was reality and not a lie.

"What?" Her face went pale instantly, she just couldn't believe this was true.

"Lunar what now?"

Agatha heaved a deep breath, like she was happy to finally get it off her chest.

"You were born with a rare condition called Lunar Absorption Syndrome because you were born on a bloody moon. "I don't know what your parents did to ask for you to be born that day, but your mother paid the ultimate price with her life." She stated Nuella paraphrasing her words.
