Chapter 3 THE EVENING RUN

Darius

"Baby, I'm in the mood"

Marlene was all over me, her voice annoying as hell. I wasn't in the mood to talk to her or hear her voice or whatever. "Leave me alone Marlene I'm not in the mood." I said, and unfortunately, Marlene might be one of the strongest wolves in the pack, but she can't seem to take a hint.

She crawled up on my body and began leaving a trail of kisses down my neck. When she was about to reach my lips I lifted her off me and tossed her aside. "Are you dumb Marlene, I said leave me alone!" I barked letting a flash of the gold color across my eyes, forcing her to submit.

She stood up from the bed with a hiss "What the fuck is wrong now huh?" she asked and I rolled my eyes "If you are that much in the mood, go do it with one of those your boy toys, not like you don't already do that anyways." I said and she glared daggers at me, oh wow, now she is pissed

"You know what Darius fuck you!!"

She screeched and stormed out of the room, banging the door roughly behind her. Probably off to unwind her little knot with one of the numerous men in the pack that she's screwing.

There were more important things going on in my life right now than to attend to one of Marlene's many tantrums. The Blood Moon event was fast approaching, this was the third one since I had turned eighteen, and I had yet to find my mate. This couldn't happen again this year or else, I might lose the opportunity to become the Alpha. Marlene turns eighteen this year and she is convinced that we are mate. No matter how annoying she is I'm convinced that that would be good. Marlene was strong, a warrior she would be the best Luna that this pack will ever have.

"Let's go on a run" my wolf Leo said in my head. The closer that time drew to the Blood moon even, the antsier my wolf gets and only this run was able to clear my head.

"Well hello to you too Leo" I said sarcastically and the only reply I got was someone chanting "run! Run! Run!" in my head. "Ok whatever I'm coming" I stripped off my clothes and jogged down the staircase completely nude. Werewolves are animals akin to nudity, our bodies are literally always on display. And besides I had a good body one which I worked so damn well for and so I was proud of it and could show it off whenever I felt like it.

"Good evening Alpha" people bowed their heads in submission whenever I passed. But I didn't miss it the eyes that strayed or turned back to take a second look. I shook my head slightly with a smirk.

Once in the woods I turned into my wolf and took off. My wolf was magnificent, all seven feet of him. My fur was as dark as the night, with piercing forest green eyes. My claws and canines were extremely sharp. I was what one would define as a beast. On the day I presented as an Alpha my father was extremely proud of me but nothing could be compared to the day I shifted into my wolf. I heard it all, the praises that I was exactly what this pack needs. And that is why I needed to find my mate, nothing would stop me from being Alpha, I had worked too hard for this.

In my wolf form all my senses were heightened. Werewolves already had sharp senses of smell, hearing sight and taste. But in wolf form, everything became elevated. I could see everything down to the smallest dew drop, I could hear the whispers of the wind, taste the air. I felt light, like the world was my oyster.

I ran pushing my lungs to the limit, dodging trees and jumping over stumps as I went. I knew these woods like the back of my hands. Millions of times I had played here in my childhood and as I grew older, this woods was where I hunted sown and killed rogues. They were the scum of the earth rogues. Deviant wolves which were kicked out of their packs as a result of some action of theirs. Wolves were pack animals, and when cast away from the pack, it was only a matter of time before they slowly began to lose their minds. It was a rogue that killed my mother, the former Luna. My mother was the kindest woman I had ever known, until those disgusting mutts had cut her life short. After that things were never the same again. My dad got angry, going on rampage for days on end and killing all the rogues he could find, but still it was never quite enough. The anger consumed him and he got sick, leaving everything to me, well almost everything. All I had to do was find my mate and then it would be a new dawn in the Blood Fang Pack.

I heard the sound of a stream and trotted over for a drink. There I saw her she was taking a swim, oblivious to the world around her. Ayla was one of the most beautiful women to ever exist, with the softest blue eyes and the sweetest smile plastered on her perfectly heart shad lips. Burt she was weak, pathetic, a mangy omega with no wolf. She couldn't even sense me here I could kill her, rip her heart out of her pathetic little chest and no one would even know, no one would miss her. I was about to give her a fright but I decided against it. Not sure the reason why. I didn't care for her, at least not anymore, she was weak, pathetic, a liability. But it had been a long timer since I had seen her this peaceful, this soft look in her eyes. I just turned away and ran back towards the pack house.
