Chapter 2

After the conversation in the room ended, Claire pushed the door open.

Jordy saw her and squinted slightly. He said flatly, "What are you doing here?"

Claire was about to respond, but Jordy ignored her and continued drinking with his friends.

She stood alone in the center of the room and was completely ignored.

She laughed bitterly.

It was always like that.

Every time they had a gathering, she found herself alone.

She had tried to get closer to Jordy's friends.

She had given gifts to them and treated them to dinner, but everyone remained distant from her.

She had often thought that she was not good enough, but now she realized they did so intentionally, including Jordy.

Jordy always looked at her indifferently, even when she tried to please him and gave him a birthday gift he liked.

He would merely express his gratitude lightly and toss the gift aside.

Each time, she could only stand by and pretend not to care.

She felt more pain after she learned the truth.

She glanced at Jordy. Unexpectedly, he was looking at her.

Their eyes met, and Claire didn't shy away. Jordy quickly averted his gaze, but his voice unexpectedly rose. "Claire, everyone else has given their gifts to me. Where's yours?"

In the past, Claire was always the first to arrive at his birthday party, clung to him, chatted about anything and everything, and gave him her gift first.

However, she was distant for no reason this time.

Claire noticed everything.

Jordy had seemingly been flawless, but he had his moments of vulnerability now.

She had never had the guts to think that he might like her too, and that was why she had always ignored it.

Claire lowered her eyes and said a few words into her phone. Soon, the door to the room was pushed open by some waiters.

Eight waiters entered, each carrying a gift box.

Everyone's eyes widened, and even Jordy took a few more glances.

Claire said flatly, "Jordy, I've been trying to win your heart for seven years. Including this year, it makes eight years. Each gift box has a number. You can open one each day according to the number. "On the eighth day, I will confess my feelings for you again, and I've prepared the biggest surprise for you that day."

Hearing my words, one his friend couldn't help but exclaim. I bet the eighth gift is probably an engagement ring or something. Jordy, you're going to be tied down this time. Claire, what if you get rejected again? Why not consider me? I'm as good as Jordy."

Hearing the last sentence, Jordy furrowed his eyebrows instinctively, and his gaze darkened slightly.

But seeing my eight gifts, he quickly gave a faint smile. "Claire, you're not really going to propose to me, are you? I haven't even agreed to be your boyfriend now. How could I accept your proposal? Honestly, you'd better consider the guy next to you. He's eager to date you."

Jordy didn't know that it was Claire's farewell gift.

When he opened the last gift box, he would only see the news that Claire was getting married.

At that moment, Claire suddenly wanted to ask Jordy directly. "Jordy, have you really never had any feelings for me?"

Her words silenced the previously boisterous crowd.

Jordy shrugged and said, "No. What are you still fantasizing about? Haven't I made it clear enough? Do I need to say it again?" Alright then. I don't like you. You are never my type. I find you boring. Your countdown is boring too. But I would be quite amused to see you confess your feelings for me again. After all, it's not every day I can be so amused. I'll set you up with another guy then, and I promise you will like him."
