I Dumped the Guy I Loved For Seven Years

Every time I confessed my feelings to Jordy Butcher, he would reject me and set me up with another guy to humiliate me.

I was heartbroken, while he would secretly look at my photos on his phone with a silly grin.

But I was unaware of that and foolishly pursued him for seven years.

Just when I thought things would always be that way, I overheard Jordy boasting to his friends outside a room and learned the truth.

"Look, even though I push Claire away, she keeps loving me and never leaves me. Next time she confesses her feelings for me, I'll set her up with Brennen Reid, the richest young man in the city. When she refuses him, I'll finally accept her pursuit."

I finally understood that everything was a test from Jordy.

"Claire, don't you have any self-respect? Why are you so shameless?" Jordy once asked me angrily in front of everyone.

Seeing no reaction from me, he shrugged and changed his tone. "You'd better stop chasing me. I have a friend who's incredibly handsome, rich, and charming. How about you date him?"

I shook my head while holding back tears, only to be met with Jordy's sneer.

I thought I would chase Jordy forever until I stumbled upon his secret just now.

I accidentally opened Jordy's laptop, which he left behind, and was shocked to discover that the password was my birthday.

The desktop wallpaper was my photo.

There was even a folder named after me.

It included candid shots of me from our first meeting.

Each picture was taken from a unique angle and showed the photographer's affection.

At that moment, I realized that Jordy had fallen for me from the very moment we met, although he always rejected me and was cold to me.

During the seven years, I didn't have unrequited love as I pursued him warmly. He had always had feelings for me, but he never showed it.

I was shocked and furious and wanted to question him for an explanation.

But as I reached the door of the room where he and his friend had a gathering, I got my answer.

Jordy was drinking with friends. His magnetic voice was heard through the door.

"If I don't let her chase me for seven years, how can I test her true love for me? How do I know if she really loves me or not? I set her up with other guys, and it is the core of the test. What if she meets a better guy and abandons me?

Will she give up on me? Ha, that's impossible. I know Claire so well. She's head over heels for me. Without me, she cannot go through, so how can she give up on me?"

His sharp words pierced my heart like daggers, although it was already battered.

I finally understood that Jordy knew everything.

He loved me, but he didn't trust me, so he disregarded my feelings.

Even my tears felt cold.

I took a deep breath and called my mom.

"Claire, have you made up your mind? Are you really ready to come home for the arranged marriage? He is Brennen, whom I mentioned to you before." My mom sounded a little joyful in her voice.

"Yes, Mom, I've made up my mind. I'll wrap up my work here and go home in a month."

"What about Jordy? Haven't you always wanted to date him? Why do you give up on him suddenly?" she asked.

I tightened my grip on the phone instinctively.

Just then, I heard Jordy's friend ask him, "How long are you going to test Claire?"

Jordy replied nonchalantly, "This will be the last time. When she confesses her feelings for me again, I'll set her up with Brennen. If she refuses him this time, I'll agree to date her. Don't worry. I've tested her enough times and believe she truly loves me. It doesn't matter to test her one more time, right?"

I held back the pain in my heart, wiped my tears, and said to my mom over the phone, "I'm not chasing him anymore. I have given up on him. I'm looking forward to meeting Brennen."

"Jordy, you won't have the last chance.

I will never show up in your life again.

And I won't spare you another glance," I said in my mind.

With teary eyes, I looked at the door that separated Jordy and me.

I made the final decision and said lightly, "Goodbye, Jordy. Since you love setting me up with another guy so much, I'll fulfill your wish."
