Chapter 3 3.

"Have you found anything about her yet?" I asked my personal detective, hoping he would get something on the girl I spotted at the nightclub.

"No, sir. There isn't much I can find on her so far, give me some more time and we'll see how it works." he responded.

"Fucking useless, so very fucking useless." I sighed.

I wanted to find this girl, no, I needed to find this girl. Something about her just made me want to see her more, she drew my attention very quickly.

I was watching her chatting her life away with what I assumed was her friend, hopefully not her boyfriend. She was beautiful, I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Her figure was amazing as well, that dress was wonderful on her body.

"I'm trying my best, Mr. Steel. We can't find her just like that, it's gonna take some time." he muttered.

"You better find her soon or so help me I will put a bullet through your fucking skull, understand?" I threatened.

"My apologies, Sir. It's just very hard to find some one after such little description, let alone not knowing the name of the person. Details are important for these types of things." he sighed out.

He was right, I knew he was. Part of me hated that he was right, I didn't like it but I couldn't control it either.

"Jesus fuck, Walter. You're supposed to be good with these things, I only need you to find her and that's it. I don't need to hear any other words coming from you, got that?" I asked, somewhat aggravated.

"Yes, sir. My apologies, I'll be continuing now." he reassured while leaving my office.

"You better find something on her!" I screamed out as he shut the door behind him.

I shouldn't have been so desperate to find a girl I didn't even know, but I already was. Something about her just pulled me in, I wanted to find out what it was.

I saw her at the dessert shop with that other guy, well I followed them there actually. After the little incident in the alleyway I decided to check it out for myself, I couldn't take my eyes off of her even if I tried as she slipped away from me.

But before I could walk up to her she had already seen me, I'm assuming that's why she ran off so fast. We held a very strong eye contact with each other before she had ran out the door.

At that time, I was fighting every part of myself not to chase her down. I wanted to talk with her and get to know more about her face-to-face but I couldn't, I had to find her again for myself.

I let out a sigh of exhaustion, holding my face in my palms with my elbows on my desk. I hated this feeling of desperation, it was different though. I never was desperate for any girl before.

Looking up at the clock above the door, I read the time. It was already midnight, it felt so much later than that though.

'It is incredibly late at night, I should head to bed and hope for the best in the morning I guess.'

I got off of my office chair to leave and head over to my room but someone had knocked on my door. I didn't wanna answer it but I could've been important so I did what felt right and answered the door.

"Come in." I yelled tiredly.

The detective came in with a grin on his face, this must have been good news, I hoped it would be at least.

"What do you want, did you find something this time?"

"In fact, yes, I did. Ella Cage, 20 year-old female, living with her roommate Nicolas Rivera. I have more if you would like to check it out for yourse-"

"Give me that." I snapped while snatched the papers in his hand and reading them.

'Holy shit, she's fantastic.'

Clear criminal records, working as a bartender, and so much more. She was keeping her life together, I could tell. One thing that threw me off was her age, she was way younger than I was. She was 20 years-old and I was 34 years-old, that was quite the age difference.

"It matches your description of her fully based on the photo I found, I'm assuming this is the right girl?" he asked for confirmation.

"Seems so. I think I'm going to pay her a little visit, she doesn't live far from here." I said while keeping my eyes on the paper, reading more.

"Now? Mr. Steel, she could be sleeping by now, which is what you should be doing as well. Besides, she has a roommate that might answer instead of her."

"Of course not now, dumbass. I was thinking later tomorrow, the roommate should be simple to handle. And don't tell me what I should and shouldn't be doing, you're just my detective and nothing more. Know your place and stay in it, Mr. Lee." I cautioned.

"My apologies once again, Mr. Steel. You can keep those documents, I have more. Looks like my work here is done then?" he questioned.

"Very much done, thank you for your help. My brother will hand you a check for your service tomorrow morning." I said while shooing him out my office.

As he left, I took the documents off from the desk and looked at the pictures of her that were given. She seemed to be a very energetic person, half of these photos were her and clubs and drinks in her hand.

'Underage drinking, I saw that coming.'

I let out a yawn, tired from the lack of sleep I've been getting for these past few months. Working in the mafia is very exhausting, but it's business so I have no choice.

Picking up the documents I was given, I sat up from my chair and walked over to the door of the room, exiting. I closed the door behind me and walked through the hallways of my home, heading upstairs to where my room was.

I walked over to my room door after climbing the stairs and placed my hand on the door handle before seeing my brother walk out of his room, half awake.

"You look like shit, why are you up so late?" I asked him.

He turned to me with a soft laugh at my comment about his appearance, "Well considering I just woke up, I'm not surprised. I was going to get a glass of water, my throat isn't doing so well again."

There was no one else like my brother, Oliver. He was a calm and gentle guy, but brutal and murderous when it came to business. He had two sides of him, it made him awfully mysterious at times.

He was the only part of family I could stand in my life, I had a sister and father but they weren't like Oliver. They never understood me or gave me any chances like he did for me. Our relationship when we were kids wasn't the best but as we grew older and matured, we got closer.

I snapped back into reality, nodding as he walked off, but I stopped him for a second, "Oliver, would you wanna go somewhere with me tomorrow afternoon?"

He stopped and turned to me, "Sure, where are we going?" he asked.

"Going to visit a certain someone, I told you about her already, you should know who I'm referring to."

I had told him all about what I had experienced at the club when I had gotten home, even he was surprised on how desperate I was to find her. Usually I don't like having to see people but this one was.. different.

"You found information about her already? That was pretty fast, I'm surprised." he said as his eyes widened a bit more.

"Sure did, Walker isn't as useless as he seems I guess. I decided to pay her a visit tomorrow, so are you in or not?" I asked just wanting to go too bed already.

"Hmm, sure. I'll come with, only because I need to make sure you don't kill her." he said with a chuckle.

"Alright, be ready by 4:00 pm. Good night, Oliver." I said while opening the door to my room and walking in.

"Sounds good. Good night, Lucifer." he said while walking downstairs to the kitchen for the water he needed.

The door creaked as I closed it, locking it afterwards.

I walked over to my closet and rummaged through. After some searching, I picked up some more comfortable clothes, sweatpants and a white shirt was all I needed.

I headed over to my bathroom and turned on my shower, waiting for the temperature to become warmer. Once it did, I stepped in and began cleaning myself up.

After I finished, I dried myself off and changed into my dry clothing. Looking at myself in the mirror of the bathroom, I could see how much this 'no sleep' thing was affecting me. I didn't care that much about it anymore.

After brushing my teeth for a few minutes, I left the bathroom and closed the door behind me, finally feeling at ease.

Picking up the documents on my nightstand, I walked over to my bed. I sat down on my bed with the documents in my hand, my eyes glued to it.

To be honest, I read most of it already and might I say, I've never been more desperate to see her again after another read.

She was perfect, she is what I needed in my life. But now I just had to find out a way to get her near me, she must have thought I was a creep already. I don't know how this would work out but we would find out tomorrow.

I put the documents back on my nightstand and checked my phone, flooded with e-mails and request from people. I didn't feel like reading anything they had to say, I was already to focused on my business.

I forgot we had to find this guy from a few months ago, he owed me so much money and never payed it, so he was either gonna die or pay up even if it meant he was poor by the end of it, I couldn't care any less. I planned on torturing him until he could pay up instead of killing him but that would be so much work.

The whole time I was trying to sleep, many things were going through my head. The girl, the amount of work I had, so much more. I couldn't help but think about all of those things no matter how hard I tried.

Finally, I was feeling pretty tired. Everything left my head except for that girl, she was flooding my head.

'Ella, what a pretty name, fits for a pretty girl like her.'
